Just bought the Halo 4 Limited Edition. Installing now, can't wait. Reviews have been phenomenal!

Man. I (unfortunately) have Halo 3 but I could never get into the hype of the Halo title. I thought it was just another generic first person shooter. My opinion of course but eh, yeah.

Re: The "other game thread"
The hype for the first Halo probably came from the fact that it was a shooter on the consoles that *wasn't* terrible.

Re: The "other game thread"
Halo:CE was how Lini explained it. Basically set the standards for all fps' on a console platform then on. Halo 2 was where the hype came from however, seeing how grand the original was and it was an amazing game with proper online multiplayer, clans, voice chat and all the works. Halo 3 introduced custom games (create your own game mode), theatre (create video clips of your games and edit them/share) and forge mode (create your own multiplayer maps and share them). I love the setting too and universe of Halo too. Plus I grew up with it.
HOWEVER, Halo 4 kicks ass. Probably the best console fps I've ever played. Controls are so tight and the game modes are incredibly fun. Just sat for 5 hours straight in multiplayer/campaign. The story so far is incredible too, but I think you'll have to be familiar with the previous three games to get the wow factor from it.
They're also releasing weekly episodic co-op missions that tell a story or something too. For free. Which is cool.

Okay Helmfrid. It took me about 12 seconds so I doubt you had time to shoot that many enemies. Unless you're playing on easy, in which case: Lol.

Re: The "other game thread"
NO! NO!Halo 3 introduced custom games (create your own game mode)
Halo 2 did, Halo 3 just gave uncreative ponses the option to. Zombies, Wacko Jacko, Cat and Mouse, Kill the king, Willy Wonka and hundreds more were invented in Halo 2 by the public! We came up with the rules and people stuck by them just because it was so much fun to do so. Groups thrice the size of this RP community coming together to play these game modes. I fucking loved Halo 2 for this.
Halo 4 campaign was good. Just completed it on Heroic, it was solid as a shooter and untouchable in all gameplay aspects. The cinematics were incredibly enjoyable but the story was a bit dull tbh. Some of the scenary got a bit samey too. I love Halo for the online though, CoD has the 6 hour short burst campaign perfected with the sheer versatility of the things you do during it. I finished the campaign at like 10pm, planned to go to bed at about 11 but my friend invites me to play online with him. End up spending 2 and a half hours playing that brilliant piece of game.
I don't like loadouts, too similar to CoD, I like everyone starting off with the same stuff and you map-find the rest. But still, man oh man, what a beautiful game.
I do love console FPS, there is something a lot more casual and social to it.

Awh I liked the story But used to be into the lore and all that I don't like loadouts either. And oops, my bad! I get 2 and 3 mixed up quite a bit. What's your gamertag?

Re: The "other game thread"
I am as well, don't get me wrong. I do love the Halo universe (I even read the God awful books that geniungly had Master Chief chapters where they described every mission of the first game...) but I just don't think they explained it very well. It didn't feel like the end of an episode of Lost where you're going "But what is that? Who is that? What happens next? Are we all saved?" it just felt like... "Erm... what?"
My gamertag is Coldnightfire!

Re: The "other game thread"
Had tons of fun with my friend, when we tried-out Halo co-op on an Xbox stand in a local store back in 2001. Think we spent nearly three hours just standing and playing there. Sadly enough, I never ended up playing the final thing, as neither of us (nor any of my friends) bought an Xbox. Or well, I did play the pc-version, but that didn't feel too amazing anymore. Tried the sequel as well, but got maybe half-way through it.
But since there's no 360 in this house, that's enough of Haloing from me. I'm still just waiting for Hitman - Absolution to be released. Not many days left...

I'm quite interested to see how they're planning to implement the whole three main characters thing. I mean sure it could be done very simply by just having you move from one to the other when the next portion of the map unlocks, but I hope they will do more with it than that.

I can not wait for The Walking Dead Game season finale and at last we have a date. After what happened at the end of episode 4 I've been itching to get back in and find out just how this is going to end.

I suggest you re-read Antistia's sentence once or twice, Oskar

Re: The "other game thread"
Adding to the Halo-discussion:
Halo 1 was a pretty good shooter on a console. Split-screen slayer made me love it.
Halo 2, however, will always be my favourite. The multiplayer was the reason xbox live made it this far, more or less, and the campaign was plain epic. Every single mission except the very first one had something going, the soundtrack perfected. Oh, and did I mention that I like dual-wielding space-guns?
Halo 3 is terrible.
Reach is ok, but only if you play it for split-screen firefights. Those, however, can get incredibly intense, and having 1-3 friends over, all shooting and swearing at the neverending hordes of enemies can be pretty epic.
The Halo series is good, but for me it will always be primarily split screen.

Well, come the 7th you'll get you chance as that is the date listed for the retail version of the full season to go on sale packaged together. They are all so very good, and I like the fact that you get the feeling that nobody is ever truly safe, and the fact the characters seem real (something I've impressed with, esp how they make the little girl seem vulnerable without seeming like useless dead weight you just want to cut free.) adds so much to this.
This Map of the Dead game seems like it could be rather interesting. might even be a reason for me to get a smart phone finally.
And it seems SWTOR went free to play yesterday. I decided to patch up this afternoon and give it a looksee... What the fuck were EA thinking? Their free to play model is terrible! Making you pay to use your god damn actionbars??? Who the fuck does this sort of thing? I'm sorry, but if they want to see a free to play MMO model done right, they need to take a look at Guild Wars 2, simple as. Now some may argue that you can download AND play the game for free while with Guild Wars 2 you have to buy the game first. Well I say to you, many of us did buy SWTOR, and this whole free play launching was reason enough for us to give it another look, and this is what we have to deal with? Really? I mean shit man, some of the restrictions they have in place are just plain stupid. I really can't see their free to play option doing anything for the game at all, it's still on track for a slow and painful death.
