Wait, what? Playstation Plus is required for online play? That sucks.

I miss the days when I could buy a game and play it to its full extent without needing to worry about constantly paying for it. Sort of ruins the escapism.

I know (although right now, without a job, it's harder). I just hate the inconsistency of constant payments.

Also, I've started watching Sony from where I stopped last night. TES:O on PS4, the first gameplay footage shown by Sony. PS4 wins. I don't actually want to play TES:O but it's still pretty huge for them.

To be honest, I think I'll just continue to pay the 40 quid for the year. Given that it gives you the opportunity to download up to ten free games a month makes it more than worth the cost.

Yes, if you wanna play online it isn't. But you can still play games OFFLINE without it.
For me that's a huge fucking deal. (mostly since 95% of the time if not more any console I might be getting will most likely not be connected to the internet)

Halo 4 release trailer was great. We had an abundance of crappy games like Reach which just didn't fit the bill. I remember being on TS with my IRL mates watching E3 and we start seeing the inside of a brain (or was it blood cells?) so we decided to mock whatever was coming. As all of us were big Halo fans, it came as a shock when it zoomed out of his visor. Great reveal.

Halo 5 reveal teaser. Their thought process;

343 staff 1: "We need them not to expect what's coming!"
343 staff 2: "We can have it start off in abandoned cities?!"
343 staff 1: "No, what if they recognise a vehicle? It's too soon!"
343 staff 2: "What about if we started in space and then had him drift by?"
343 staff 1: "We're showing it during Microsoft and you want space? Too easy."
343 staff 3: "... Why don't we put him in a desert for no reason and have him wear a hooded cloak over his Mjolnir futuristic space armour for no reason at all except to throw people that watch the teaser off the Halo trail."
343 staff 1: "It makes no fucking sense... But I like it! It works!"

Sony are just scoring points by "subtley" pointing out xbones bullshit (always online, not sharing etc) meanwhile I have to pay extra for online modes? I already paid for the internet. I already paid for the console. I already paid for the game.

Not happy about this. Reason I ended up playing my ps3 way more often then my 360 is because of free online(Which should be the standard ffs)

Happy to see PS4 looking promising. Always been a PS fan.

Not going to pay for online play though, only ever played console singleplayer anyway.

Well, as I said before. I've never played online with any console other than the Wii. And then it was back the year it was released and like, Guitar Hero 3.
For me "Pay to play online" isn't a problem since I likely won't do it. I'm curious if you can still access PSN for free for the single player indie games etc.

And Sony are scoring subtle points as hell. And trollishly obvious ones (See the share games video)

The need to change hobbies has never been greater when I saw the Ryse: Son of Rome trailer on microsoft's conference. Also I was disappointed that Ubisoft only put out a 1 min trailer with Watch Dogs, I'm getting less and less hyped about that game the more I see of it, sadly.

Gonna watch the Sony conference now, the new MGS game might actually force me back into console gaming. :/

No combat footage? Really? That's really disappointing. While the visuals are nice, the game itself could very well be utter shit.

As for a Wiiu, absolutely not. It barely got anything going for it and their conference was (to say the least) disappointing with nothing to show.

Not to mention WII FIT GIRL for brawl? REALLY NINTENDO? REALLY? You couldn't have found a better character? I mean, not like you don't have a ton to choose from or anything.

Yeah, just watched it now.

I dunno, for a game that was originally proclaimed to have true "open world organic sandbox" gameplay, the gameplay vids are scripted as hell. A positive thing about this one though is how he deliberately chose not to kill anyone, just wounding them. Hopefully you can play through the game without having to kill anyone, should you choose to.
