Re: The "other game thread"
I used the term worked on, actually, mate!
Telltale started making Monkey Island in 2008, Lucas Arts have done it all the way through. Ron Gilbert worked for LucasArts.
There's quite a difference between developing and publishing but you do realise that half of those games (if not more) would never have made it into the public if it wasn't for LucasArts. Along with the fact that, from what I've read, LucasArts is one of the best publishing labels to be under - they integrate a lot of their staff to collaborate on projects.
There's a reason that this has become such big news and that's because LucasArts was a goliath in the gaming world. It was responsible - collaboration or not - for some of the best games of the last couple of decades.
Saying that LucasArts wasn't a massive asset to the making of those games is like saying that EA are a local corner shop that sell used train sets.

I'm not saying LucasArts werne't great.
I'm saying that what they are/Were at the end. Is not wht they used to be. Most people that you generally think of when thinking of LucasArts aren't with them today. They have moved on.

that star wars 1313 sounds awesome, reminds me of that game where you're a bounty hunter. I think it was just called Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. Twas for the ps2, it was epic

SW Battlegrounds 3, Republic Commando 2 and KOTOR 3.
Not like I'm holding onto foolish hopes and probably would feel let down even if those games were published due to my far too high expectations. Not at all.

It isn't anything spectacular. The best things about the remake are:Clydas wrote:Does the "HD" add anything to the game Coppers?
- Steam Workshop (so expect Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, other points in history campaigns).
- Online

Bioshock Infinite is absolutely, without a doubt, wonderful.

@Gruff: Do I need to play through Bioshock to enjoy Infinite?
I just dislike the UI in the first game too much, so I think it'd be lost on me in that case.

No, not at all. Bioshock is a good game, not great. It slacked tremendously and just didn't keep me engaged (though it's weird, and dark). Bioshock 2 was terrible.
Whilst there is something that players of the first 2 games will recognise and will make sense, no spoilers, you don't need to have played them at all. The game stands alone. And stands above the crowd. Seriously, people should play this game. It's amazing.
I've never had a game make me feel so thoughtful after finishing it. The story is fantastic.
In much the same way as certain graphic novels (began to) change the way people saw "comic books" as literature, I think Bioshock Infinite could (and should) do the same for storyline writing in computer games. Better than (made up statistical number of) 80% of Hollywood's droppings.

Re: The "other game thread"
I suppose it's almost another game at this stage, Prologue. I've recently joined their Lore team. I've never thought it would be such a hassle to read through so much WoW history and get to 'officially' write parts of it.
Interesting though, and at least a break from writing 4,000 essays on Cold War history (as much as I without any denial love this)

Prologue explanation: Pure awesomeness. Seriously though, if you've tired of wow and only remain for the RP, then Prologue is the place to go. It ought to be checked out at least.

It is the place I would recommend DefiasRP to go rather Argent Down.
A lot of people from DB are already on Prologue, (Garodin Silversmith, Exilius, Drathun) to name the ones I know.
Gunnell got kicked off the staff team there for going power crazy so no worries there.

Re: The "other game thread"
Correction, Prologue is the place to go if you just like Human RP and tired of paying Blizzard. Cause if you want to RP as anything else it'll be very very scarce.
It's not amazing, and I personally prefer the main servers over Prologue any day due the fact that they're simply more vast and has more content in general.
The complete lack of Cata and Panadria item models is a big Meh to me, not to mention that it's too much a hassle to get anything beyond green quality items.
The way the currency works is absolutely dreadful too.
Plus the general lack of players, and the fact that GNomes are in a even WORSE position on Prologue rather than giving them back Gnomeregan.
Worst of all? THe lack of /who, you have NO IDEA where people are. This is actually quite horrible since it can make you walk around doing nothing while the bulk of the RPers are somewhere else. It really takes out a large portion of the game's social aspect as you simply can't find anyone.
I understand it from one viewpoint but there's too many flaws for it to be seen as anything positive.

Re: The "other game thread"
As a visitor to that forum every day I can say that some of what you've said is slightly inaccurate. It may also help that I have good contacts with two of the administrators and the project leader (we went to the same Uni and he lives 2 hours away from me)
I would argue strongly that it's in the same scarcity that it is on retail servers and on DB. Essentially that, there's as little draenei RP & gnome RP as there is here, (in any organized form). But people recognize that, and I assure you, there's quiet a lot of protest/discomfort against a human majority. A huge emphasis is placed on non-human role-play.
Agreed, I really like PvP in retail and the arena system and just general wPvP.
Incorrect here, Etorix (leader) is capable of bringing in certain items individually from database to database and they have done so before. (Gilnean clothes)
Agreed!
Well, to each their own.

Eight of the world's greatest assassins come to Gotham on Christmas Eve, all to kill the Bat.
*gleeclap*
Tad concerned it's not from Rocksteady and that they're jumping back in time, would've preffered if they'd continued with the hooks left from AC. But I suppose I'll stay my bitching for when we actually get some solid info.
Plus maybe it means we'll get to hear Hamill again after all!

I agree, Flo! I'm a bit annoyed it's a prequel but Arkham City was my game of the year for 2012 (I didn't play it till 2012!)

Re: The "other game thread"
Naa, Hamill said that Arkham City was his last ever venture into Joker.
He said the same about Arkham Asylum, but when they gave him the script and the final 'good bye' to that Joker, he couldn't say no to such an opportunity to give the Joker a good send off in that particular universe.
Needless to say, Hamill = Best Joker.
Maybe if Ledger had Hamills voice, I'd have liked Christopher Nolans Joker a lot more, but I wasn't amazed by Ledger as the Joker like everyone else.
