Hmm, realised what the "perfect game" would be for me with todays tech.

A roleplaying game that plays more like "Pen paper" roleplaying games of the non Dungeons and Dragons nature.
So, games where the skills of the character, not the gear of the character. Matters.
So, a bit like tes games, but more ballanced. (Can't be the best at everything... and you know. Actually good at anything but exploration). In an MMO nature.
Where they story depends on player action, and combat is harsh and unforgiving.

... And a weak dragon can take down ARMIES alone.

So, in essence a MMO-RPG that isn't fucking gear or level based.

Eve is both far to frontloaded, and in space.

Also what spaceship you have matters a tonne, and getting skills doens't take skill, generally just time.

NWN. Just more so.

A Persistent World, GM led if wanted/needed. Somewhere with multiplay, just not necessarily "MMO". A living, breathing world. With thousands of species and NPCs etc.

Where craft skills can and do matter, and maybe even you can have a household or such, where it takes time to build things, as a group. No master of all in one character.

A rich history and lore, no high magic (but hedgemagic/naturemagic, sure).

Oh, being able to take a GM role for RPing, and just KILL someone doing stupid shit that'd get them killed. Would be so fantastic for a game with RP.

Kill EA? They aren't going to be killed by this! Go on Steam and look at the prices for the Sims 3 and all of the expansions. If you were to buy them all, it'd come to a few hundred pounds - EA aren't going to be killed by micro transactions, it'll boost their sales!

Expansions are one thing, but do you really think people will pay £40-£50 for a game that tries to sell them ingame ammo for even more money?

Obvously it worked well enough with Dead Space 3 so that they already think it's grand to put it in all games.

I don't think you understand how many people throw away their money! Micro transactions are scarily effective. Even people who are against them, such as me, have fallen victim to one or two. They're so hard to resist! Spend £5 or 5 hours?

Exactly. People buy a game for £40 and then spend an extra £5 to reduce the time they'll play by 5 hours, because a game is about getting to the end. If there's an alternative, quicker route to the end, people will take it. That's why games with cheats never showed the cheats in game - if they did, people would feel like they're doing it wrong when they don't use them, and the game wouldn't last long at all. But now cheats are about making money, so they'll be made known.

It's just so unethical I genuinely can't understand how they can do it.

A sub for an MMO is different. It costs money to keep up the servers. But having a sub, yearly expacs and microtransactions is ridiculous.

If you use micro-transactions to be more efficient in game / to cut off some time, you're doing it wrong.

If you use them occasionly to have more fun with the time you're spending gaming anyway, then I see nothing wrong with it whatsoever.

Keeping servers online for an MMO, even with as many servers as WoW, is such a rediculus number that I think that the sales of TBC at launch could STILL be covering the total costs of WoW.
Almost all of the sub fee, today, is pure profit.

See, I don't get this! Usually, you spend that small amount of money to skip a grind. Grinding is, in most cases, extremely dull and time wasting.

Hum, this is quite hard tbh.

For an MMORPG: World of Warcraft with Unreal Engine, updated graphics and character models. Which also means body physics, better lighting, shaders, enviorment details etc. Seriously, the trees in WoW might as well be flat and made out of cardboard. Also, larger ways to customize your characters looks.

And last but not least, no monthly fee. (I know, that wont happen. One can only wish)
