Aaah...Bungie "We made the game run without a mouse and keyboard. And now nobody plays shooters the way they used to play them before Halo ’cause nobody wants to" Software. Now that the new console generation is slowly emerging people are crawling out of their caves to offer statements on how PC gaming is dying once again because PC sales aren't bigger than sales on all console platforms put together.

And speaking of new console generations, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Playstation 4 yet. With groundbreaking new innovations such as having a "Share" button in the controller for social networks, it's sure to shake the gaming world.

And speaking of PS4...I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this either:

True. Even if the processor is practically mobile laptop hardware. Somehow I have this feeling that the jump in processing power between the previous (7th) and the current (8th) console generation isn't as drastic as it was between 6th and 7th. I might be wrong, though.

Still, it's nice to see the consoles close the gap on PCs a bit because no matter how you twist it, 10 year old technology isn't something you run modern games on.

It's a very interesting server, with 400 to 450 players online at peak hours.
Usually takes about a day to get through applications upon joining, since they come down on every single little minor fault in an application, but it's pretty effective shielding against trolls and general pricks.

This actually looks, really cool.

Finally finished the new DmC. Swell game and all...just that it's type of hack 'n slash once again made me frown at WoW's not-so-crazyass combat.

Also, PS4 looked like fun! Not that I'll be buying near the launch, if the pricetag is anything similiar (or higher) than to what it was with PS3. Perhaps one year later or so...

Obviously, it's Sony, so, it'll still look like a chunk of money to anyone with a regular bank account, but with any luck it'll be a more reasonable chunk.

I've got a PS3 and a fair few games, but... frankly I wasn't expecting them to work, given that no PS2 games and only some PS1 games worked on the PS3.

I'll go back to dream about SimCity and Star Citizen.

Played the SimCity beta (it was more like a glorified, heavily restricted demo with a 1 hour play limit). The interface was so... completely dull, ugly, and just generally terrible. Other than that, it's decent. I probably won't buy it because I'm done with EA and their shitty Origin, and I'm not buying (another) singleplayer game I can't play without a constant internet connection.

PS4 is bad. 8 core processor in a system designed for gaming (let's pretend they aren't trying really hard to be PCs) just bloats the price and is completely useless. I also heard (not entirely sure on this, but I've also heard similar things about the new Xbox) that the console will mark a disc the first time it's played so it can only ever be used on that console. So I wouldn't buy it out of principle even if there weren't loads of other reasons not to.

Gaming industry is fucked. I've decided only to buy games from decent publishers that don't openly screw their consumers, and I've managed to stick to it so far (or well, I bought Far Cry 3 and found out I need to run it through some Origin-clone shit, but I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known.)

But aside from the horrible platform requirements, it's a good game. Bit easy (on hardest difficulty) but it's fun. Multiplayer is similar to CoD, but I like it. And the environments are beautiful.

Those who bought a PS3 when it had that price tag. So, the first iteration, got the version that had the PS2 chipset and was backwards compatible (was removed when the price when down since it was expensive to manifacture).
It was also released in november of 2006, so they've had it for six years, and when the PS4 get's out it'll be seven. That gives it the economic lifespan of seven years. Which means that you payed 71.4 euro for it every year.
Not that expensive.

It's very much not CHEAP, it's not something you buy if you have a bad sallary and kids to feed. But if you live a comfortable life, don't waste money on ciggaretes (example of pure waste on expensive crap). It's well within your means.

Always think on the "how long am I gonna have this" not "OMG DAT PRICETAG?!?!?!".
How the fuck else do you think people buy cars for far, far more? They try to figure out how long they see themselves using said car, etc.

For anybody that cares to answer: what would -your- PERFECT game be like?

Here's three games which, if they were all around at the same time and were actually possible, I'd probably give up life:

- Skyrim but with the following changes (and no, ESO will be nothing like this! It'll just be generic MMO in their universe. They don't even have first person!)

• Instead of like 20 different enemy models, have well over a thousand.
  
• Ridiculous amounts of variety with gear. The worst thing in Skyrim is when you get the best gear. Getting the best gear in an RPG leaves you with little reason to go exploring for treasure. I love the feeling of picking something up, having no idea if it'll be good or not and then identifiying it and suddenly BAM!
  
• Good writing. It's hard to feel immersed in the story when they can't even make any worthwile characters. The moment I killed Anduin, I rushed down to be rewarded by the Jarl of Whiterun but was greeted with a "Dragonborn, what can I do for you?" The writing team was honestly shit. I could have done a better job whilst typing with my tongue.
  
• Thousands more spells!
  
• The entire Elder Scrolls world but with one city that is online. Perhaps the Imperial City. There you can meet others and group up. With groups of say, up to eight, you can go and explore unique and elite dungeons which contain big bosses etc

- A new Monkey Island game with monthly installments of chapters that each take 5 hours to complete.

- Zombie survival MMO.
When Left 4 Dead was first announced, I had imagined it to be four people trying to find a way to survive for as long as possible. Gathering supplies and what not. Now, I imagine that with several hundred people but with no ability to slaughter those lovely slow, walking zombies. If you see a pack of zombies, you have to get the fuck out of there. Holding up in a base and having a to watch how quiet you are so you don't attract attention. Now, you'll be thinking "DayZ!", nope! I'd prefer complete horror so barely any weaponry. If someone has a gun, that is a BIG deal. Melee weapons are fine, but your average Joe wouldn't be able to take on twenty zombies alone. Realistic Zombie Survival horror in a city like area maybe! With the ability to enter all buildings etc.

Contenders who didn't meet the cut, wouldn't be my perfect game, but they'd definitely keep me entertained for weeks on end:
- Lord of the Rings done in a similar way to Elder Scrolls games.
- A new, fresh Star Wars MMO.
- A Borderlands MMO
- Dungeon Keeper III
- Diablo IV but with a much longer story and no Real Money AH

I don't know about you, but sometimes playing Day Z I've been left practically rigid in tense gripping fear when I've heard gunshots or seen people near me.

Although the zombies in Day Z aren't the main fear, people are damn scary.

Yeah, but those same people are using guns so you can get taken out from miles away. Yes, DayZ is tense, but I want to literally shit bricks. I want to be scared of the zombies and actually get a massive rush from finding a gun (a pistol, not sniper).

Don't get me wrong, I love DayZ, but exactly as you say. Zombies aren't scary at all in it. They may make you jump by sneaking up on you, but that is about it. It's just the people.

I'd love to hear a gunshot as rarely as you see a chopper in DayZ. When you hear it, zombies from a large radius start going towards it.

TL;DR - A zombie survival horror game that is mainly about surviving and bunkering down, doing supply runs etc, rather than one about hunting down and gunning every player you see.
