The biggest mistake this forum has ever made

... is to hide the largest portion of its boards from unregistered viewers.

I can clearly recall why this had happened. A lot of people were going mental because a handful of players (of the Goon Squad was it?) had tried to troll a couple of role-playing events. So it was decided that we would build a huge fence around our role-play and only allow people that are approved by moderators to view these boards. What was originally a tool to promote role-playing quickly changed into an elitist group that tried hard to keep role-playing hidden from plain sight.

I've stated this before but I'll do it again now: GTFO with that fence. Break open the forums to be viewable by role-players that are not registered. The fence doesn't do anything but frustrate new role-players, as people who want to try and ruin events will find a way to do so regardless. We've shot ourselves in the foot with the decision to strictly select people that can view this forums.

Does anyone agree with me?

Agreed with this from day 1. Besides, the hoo-hah over most event ruining people never really took off anyway. It was a precaution that was never required.

I agree with this completely. When i first came here i thought this forum was inactive for a while, until i finally realised that you had to apply. That was dumb on my side, i know, but some people might do the same mistake without viewing the sub forums because of the low amount of posts, and then leave.

I've heard many other roleplayers saying the same thing. The sad thing is that some of the roleplayers out there STILL don't know you need to apply to see the rest >.<

I remember when I first registered with the site, after the first authorisation from someone to register, all I could see what the new members work - without realising that I had to then make a thread to ask to be approved in order to view the full forums. It took me a good three weeks after registering to be told that you had to make a thread there...

I'd wondered this a few times, actually. I know Saihna's not active right now so don't leap on her back, but I definitely agree that the forums would benefit more from letting others see them. Not letting guests post, but view at least! It could promote our RP.
