Re: The Duskwood RP community [A]
Aye, pretty much what stung my curiosity, as these used to be de facto "shady" lairs, and I was at a loss that nothing was mentioned or hinted. I know the Sphere itself has disbanded, hence why I added the clarification in parenthesis. Regardless, cheers for clearing it up.

Re: The Duskwood RP community [A]
My apologies, Nayan, if the impression you got from my post was trying to prove the Alliance were any better than the Horde then I have entirely failed to express myself.
We're not Orcs, Trolls, Humans (hurr hurr), or Gnomes. We're all players. I play both sides and my OOC attitude doesn't change when I switch character.
My point was, and always has been, that there are sometimes good reasons why people don't want us wading into their events simply because we can rationalise the likelyness of an attack occuring. We wouldn't dream of barging in on a same-faction event and god emoting everybody and interrupting their RP. We respect their right to RP how they chose and if they don't want to RP with us we leave them to it. Why is it any different when it comes to PvP? I don't care if they're wrong to ask something like that of us,we give it to them because to do anything else is to spoil somebody's elses experiance in a childrens GAME.
They're hosting an event I believe is illogical, but (And I'll use SGE as an example because some people have taken offense at me using different guilds/groups/players) I don't believe it's any more illogical than Gurubashi Trolls allying themselves with Sin'Dorei, the Dark Lady, and Darkspear Trolls. Then travelling the length of the Eastern Kingdoms to defend a Sin'Dorei "Queen's" territory. The likelyhood of this isn't something I'm going to argue about, in my mind it's a forgone conclusion, but I accept this oversight of logic because it makes for good RP and -that- is what I am interested in. If they will enjoy their event because we leave them alone then we should leave them alone and get on with our own RP.

Re: The Duskwood RP community [A]
Again, you're jumping into conclusions based on nothing but assumptions. Do you have any idea about what goes on behind the scenes of the troll, and specifically SGE RP? Do you know whether there is an IC justification for the trolls' presence at the side of any of the above mentioned races/guilds? I doubt you do, because if you did you wouldn't be using this as an example. Those who are aware of the guild's RP however know for a fact that it's perfectly justifiable for them to be there. Knowing what's really going on myself I can safely tell you that the reasons for their IC presence are solid enough to overrule the "It defies IC logic but it's good for RP, so who cares?" argument, since they were RP'ed out over the past years.Geneviève wrote:

Since you lack said knowledge, you can't compare the two. Traveling to an utmost hostile environment just for leisure isn't the same with traveling to fight with your allies. The reasons for the first are not thought through, are mostly based on "For fun!" and make little to no IC sense, while the reasons for the second might be a mystery to you but actually make perfect sense
On a side note, no one has answered the question of why not choosing a less hostile environment with beaches, unless I missed it.

Yeah, Pick a beach in a non-hostile enviorment. Westfall has beaches, hopefully some without mobs.
And there's more than just Westfall, at that.
And stop picking at guilds.

A Letter has been posted to the Dark Watch of Duskwood, from Lady Nayru Valthia of House Valthia.
"Greetings, Night Watch. I have important news for you regarding the recent affairs in Duskwood. Please be in Great Hamlet at 20:30 today to learn more."
Cant be arsed to create a full on event for it, since its only a light meeting.

Re: The Duskwood RP community [A]
I thought I mad it quite clear Mandui that I was certain there was IC justification enough to satisfy you and the vast majority of people. But at the same time, nothing is going to justify that breach of lore for the precisely the same reasons as they are doing, because it is more fun.
I'm not picking on a guild, I'm guilty of the same hypocrisy and I'd dare to say almost -everybody- is. What does make it a problem is when people cannot acknowledge that aspect of themselves, it's moral cowardice and again I'm forced to say, dissapointing.
Let people RP the way they wish and stop trying to impose yourself upon them. Live and let live?
Perhaps this is what frustrates me most, people are so used to self rightious, insufferable, 'know it alls' flaming each other on the forums they cannot see well intentioned, non-judgemental observations and comparisons for what they are. They must instead become instantly defensive and hide behind layers of self justification, veiled hypocrisy, and down right pig headedness. :S
P.S. Surely by it's very definition nothing can overule (Paraphrased for legibility) 'logic' when defining what is and what is not reasonable?
Whilst I do play both sides of the fence I've never levelled a troll on this server so my knowledge of SGE is limited to what my friends in the guild tell me. If I am uninformed about this 'fact that justifies overuling logic' (paraphrased) it is because they are, because I'm mimmicking their observations, not just my own. As they themselves told me SGE's alliance with people who, in lore and often IC brutally slaughter them, is one of OOC conveniance because without it, where would SGE stand when it came to partaking in server wide RP-PvP events?
I'm not judging you in the slightest this is a childs game, the object is to have fun, but not at the expense of other people. But you can't see that, you'd rather see somebody attacking you and your guild for purely irrational reasons (and I confess if that was what I was doing it would be irrational, for what have I to gain by doing so?). To avoid feeding the flames (accidental double entendre) by adding credence to the idea people are afraid of the servers big personalities I'll make it clear this is the last time I'll post on this topic at this time, not because there are any sort of repurcussions for continuing, but because it is unfair on Chareshia, Mortima, and the rest of the people who wish to see this event go ahead.

It had began to be a circular discussion anyways, since Gene keeps missing the point I repeated at least 5 times thus far. Sorry for the derailing (although my derailing was at least a bit constructive or that was my intention anyways >_>). You can ask a mod to delete all the posts irrelevant to the topic or have this thread renamed-moved and create a new one.

Hmm, may be you should a bit more information to the main page? Especially contact information. And times/places of events. The Image-advert is certainly nice, but it is harder to update than text .
