Re: Warlords of Draenor - General Discussion
You don't see an immigrant's descendant from say Albania wearing the Albanian army uniform when in the British army, the country where he now lives and serves for?
Same here, imo. :p They're part of the same army, regardless of culture!

Re: Warlords of Draenor - General Discussion
This is not the same at all. The Gnomes, Dwarves, Elves, and Draenei are not part of the same country so naturally they'd fight with their own colors and culture. Since when did Wrynn conquer the rest of the Alliance or the Gnomes or Elves migrate their population and become part of the human culture?Rmuffn wrote:You don't see an immigrant's descendant from say Albania wearing the Albanian army uniform when in the British army, the country where he now lives and serves for?

If such were the case we wouldn't have different tabards for each race, because they represent something different- each of them. Blizzard just ignores this to favor their lovechilds.
If Albania would be allied with the UK and they went to war, Albania would wear their shit, and UK would wear theirs. They'd assist each others, but at the end of the day they're two different armies.

Re: Warlords of Draenor - General Discussion
To be honest, lore and story in WoW is not something that you should take seriously.
Hate to be the nay-sayer, but Wrynn is High King of the Alliance because they can't bother bringing all the leaders in for the progression of their "story". Having Alliance vs Horde is easier than having an Alliance with 6 different characters vs a Horde with 6 different characters. Not to mention, considering Siege of Orgrimmar ending, there really isn't a reason there should be a Horde vs Alliance!
If story and lore was the most important thing in WoW, then we'd probably have no unresolved storylines floating around. We'd probably not have Warlords of Draenor either as an expansion, because it isn't a setting motivated by an intriguing story. They just wanted to show old draenor, regardless of what story took us there or if the story demanded it. Acknowledging it and enjoying it is one thing, but defending the lore/story behind it is pretty pointless at this point.

By that logic, we shouldn't see national flags on army uniforms, just the EU one. Darnassus isn't governed by Wrynn. It's called the -alliance-, because that's what it is.

Re: Warlords of Draenor - General Discussion
Well-- Let's just say we can have it both ways. There are a lot of people from all races and background serving in the alliance army, but there are also plenty of people serving their own faction or race at home.

Re: Warlords of Draenor - General Discussion
They really ought to change the Alliance tabards/banners though; Having the Stormwind symbol and colors representing "The Alliance" really just makes it out to be a blue version of the Horde.
Especially when you consider that the Night Elves are likely the strongest race in the Alliance at the moment, given just how savagely beaten every other race was over the course of WarCrafts I, II and III. Cataclysm did pretty good at showing the Elves on the offensive, and we see a tiny bit of it in Pandaria too, but otherwise it's all humans humans humans, even though that really makes no bloody sense. Like the Draenei and the Gnomes, the Human race has been cut down to a percentage of its original population by Orcs+Plague+Scourge+Demons+Everything else and their grandmother's dog.
I say the Alliance colors should be purple. Night Elves, Gnomes, Draenei and Dalaran all agree. Plus it's a mix of Ironforge and Stormwind banners (red and blue).

Horde keeps the original orchish colours and symbol, so from a blizz point of view, so should alliance, it's what we've come to define them as, after all.
Altho I do miss the fancy L over the Lion. (All Hail Lordaeron)

I quite agree, the Lordaeron L is a great logo and represents the Alliance better, imo. Or perhaps the Kul Tiras Anchor, since Theramore was the binding point between the old Lordaeron Alliance (Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes) and the new Kalimdor ones (Night Elves, Draenei and Worgen).

Doesn't mean people can't state their opinion and finding Blizzards lore decisions to have a lacking foundation in their own lore without them doing "PLOT DEVICE!"
Or Plot Hole, or "Because we say so", or "OH SO COOL /Metzenvoice"

While your main fortress will always be in Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) or Frostfire Ridge (Horde), you will establish Garrison outposts in Gorgrond, Talador, Nagrand, and Spires of Arak, all customized based on your building choices.
Interesting indeed...

Grrrh. All this does is make me wish more for racially-specific Garrisons, rather than a few touches added to the different buildings (as we've been shown so far).
Hell, I'd gladly pay for it if they made aesthetic options for your Garrison a Blizz store purchase, as long as it's actually an option. Make a Draenei garrison, or better yet... A gnomish one!

Sim City!
EDIT: Aww man... All of these features would sound so much better to me if they were guild-based instead of personal. Oh well. We'll just have to pretend it's alliance wide.

Well i prefer these shoulders, hugeness and some things aside.
Not sure what to think of it really. Surely awesome for an undead and I feel like it's at least better then the normal tier version.
Also for some reason reminded me of this:
