Re: Elder Scrolls... ONLINE!?
Orcs in TES have never really harbored much hate towards to humans tbh, considering they are some of the most stalwart and loyal members of the Empire. I like the idea that the Imperials are an unplayable faction, reserving them as the ones caught in the middle of all this.
Oh and there won't be any Dwemer in Elder Scrolls online, since the Dunmer are present. Going by the time scale it takes place around the Second Era, year five hundred or so, the Dwemer will have been gone for nearly 3000 years, they vanished early in the first era, around year 700 and the first era lasted nearly 3000 years itself.
One thing I wonder though, will Argonians be a slave race? Either way, I plan to treat them Icly like filth under my great Telvanni shoes....or I might choose to be more ordinator-like, what sort of Dunmer you thinking of lex?

I think I was going to go for a sneaky stabby roguey elf. Cloak and daggers.
As for the guild, not sure yet, Open to ideas really at this stage.

Lex, Helves, Welves and Bretons won't be in the same faction. Like your last post made it sound.

HElves, WElves and Khajit are one faction.
I am pleased they did not put the Dwemer in. I look forward to RPing an exploration into ancient Dwarven places.

If you want to get Burgen ranting, follow the following sequence of logical proof.
1. Dwarves are Dwemer
2. Mer is the word for elf and all races ending in -mer are types of elf
3. Therefore, dwarves are a type of elf

Re: Elder Scrolls... ONLINE!?
Dwarves are indeed elves within the Elder Scrolls lore and I always liked the fact they are not the stereotypical short, bulky and long beards. Though dwemer ghosts did have facial hair.
Perhaps Lex, as a starter guild, a roving band of adventurers seeking fame and glory...A little cliche perhaps, but hey, it's a whole new game to explore, why not do it all Icly, we are largely safe from ganking in our own leveling zones after all

The only pity is that you do not see the dwarf race die. There I said it.

Been a while since i checked back here, but i noticed this topic and i see a few are interested in TESO.
Just a quick notice for those interested to explore the RP side of TESO we have started up a little community @ http://www.elderscrollsonlineRP.com (sorry for the advertisement purely informative)
Anyway hope to see you guys in Tamriel sometime, I'm going to create a redguard or one of the elven races if my girlfriend gets her way.

Re: Elder Scrolls... ONLINE!?
TESO is something that intrigues me. I do love TES. Skyrim was amazing (even with the bugs). But an MMO?
I'd much prefer a multiplayer (or persistent world NWN style, GM led even?) game for TES. Too many people and too many twats could easily break what is good about that game, exploration, moments of fear and wonder.
TES with a chance to play through quests etc together... that would be groovy.

Imagine you're ingame with some friends, performing one form of epic quest handed out by a questgiver, and you'd reach a decisive point, such as a final boss, or the such, only for a random gold farmer/troll/the such to randomly drop in and kill the boss, leading to massive amounts of anger.
Of course, there are a few ways to solve that, like instanced quests for your own party, but, all in all, it would have been nice if the TES games would have had a multiplayer option similar to... let's say Borderlands or other games, when you'd have an ally join you, the mobs ingame would increase in strength, until you'd have a full party, in which case you'd have to actively plan out and work with your party to come out of a situation victorious. However, it'd also be very challenging and fun to quest through the world of TES with friends.
Also, really enjoyed NWN1&2

Re: Elder Scrolls... ONLINE!?
NWN, yes. NWN2, no. Was dreadful with a terrible graphics engine to boot.
But, as I have said before, NWN is one of the best game ever. And some of the PWs (Persistent Worlds, think GM-led sandbox adventures, almost like PnP) were amazing.
As for TES(O)... that you describe is exactly the sort of thing I was fearing. But running for example as a pack of werewolves, or a Silver Hand Cohort, or some Skooma runners, Vigilants of Stendarr, Disciples of some Daedric Prince... or just some adventurers investigating some Dwemer ruins ... that could be very cool together.

Same goes for any MMO out there. Well apart from GW2 where as long as you get a hit in on the thing you get credit for it's death. But still I have to agree that a NWN style multiplayer would have been lovely, but since that's not an option at the moment, I'll take what I can get. So long as they don't try to put in a monthly fee, or do a ToR style payment scheme this should do quite well. If they can take anything away from the current state of the MMO market, I'd say that GW2 has the best B2P option going as you can quite happily play for every without needing their store, but there are plenty of things in it which people desire, without it becoming P2W.

Like Humps said something like GW2 would work. They had a really nice touch in their quests/events in that they'd fluidly increase in difficulty depending on how many people were taking part in it. Ie a wave of 5 bandits on an area-defence quest if you were soloing an event, or 15 if there were 3 people taking part, etc. Greater rewards were given for different levels of participation too, so people couldn't get away with just wandering into an ongoing group quest area and afking/gathering loot.
For important plot points/story moments they could also do like The Secret World, which has small areas which are 'solo instances' for advancing the main storyline. Ie- the cave which you enter to face down dread evil number 25 is a private or small-group only instance.

Re: Elder Scrolls... ONLINE!?
To be honest, because it isn't Bethesda making the game, instead of thinking Elder Scrolls Online - I think, MMO with an Elder Scrolls theme. The difference being, I have no high expectations for the game itself - I expect a generic MMO - I'm more excited for the RP and story elements.

I don't know, they've been working hard to keep things such as the combat true to what you'd expect from an Elder Scrolls game. So if they have that, the story and the setting down right. I can forgive generic MMO quests.

I've seen some stuff on that, it "could" be cool... some mods are fantastic (for this and other games)... but I dunno.
