Wanna know the weirdest thing? Crusader Kings made me think of minecraft.. I'd love to do a minecraft server with tons of people.. Oh the dreams I have. Does anyone actually play minecraft these days?
Also the most depressing game of CKII ever, I had six beautiful kids and their mum had just died in child birth giving me a seventh. 3 sons and 4 daughters. The youngest dies of pnumonia, the second youngest dies of consumption. My vassal murders my eldest, my other vassal murders my third youngest. I have 3 kids left, 2 sons and a daughter. I'm essentially in tears now. The Holy Roman Emperor murders my eldest son and heir in battle and the king of france executes my other son, i'm left with my last child, adaughter called Anna Gloria, she is to inherit -everything-. I get her a good match, I really start to look forward to playing her. She dies in childbirth. All my children are dead before me, it was utterly heart breaking.

My game as Brandenburg->HRE is looking good. Managed to make myself a hereditary emperor. Current king is the greatest king EVER (6000 prestige) but he is plagued by one of the vassals, King of Frisia, a major landholder within the Empire. That old bastard keeps scheming against me and doing other despicable things (i KNOW it!) but I can't prove anything so he keeps evading my imperial justice. He got a kick-ass spymaster so only 12% chance of succesful assassination

As the Habsburgs I've just created both the Duchy of Upper Burgundy and the Kingdom of Burgundy. It's going rather well. I've set my eyes on my neighboring Duchy of Dauphine. Haven't figured out how I'm going to get my hands on that title yet though.
War is one option, and my chancellor's busy trying to get me a claim, but I'd also like to absorb the title into my family through marriage.

From the very start no one actually liked me, then they started stealing titles, so I tried to revoke it. He obviously start war. After having crushed him and his allies in this civil war, I still couldn't claim the ground unless I ursurped them for set amount of money.
And then I saw my other counties shifted owner to children, so I tried taking it back, it was a maybe. But the brat started another civil war! D:

Note to self.. Giving a vassal england is not a good idea. A vassal with equal power to one self is bad for buisness.

I'm having a trouble understanding how to win a county without using their peace offer.

It's why I use the Empire mod, as you can then have Kings as vassals.

Started a new game as an Irish Duke with only one County. Slowly invading nearby lands until Ireland is united under one banner. I've got about 50% of the Country by now, but small pockets of resistance remain in the North and South. Not for long. *Cackle*
Anyhow, Question: Do I always need a valid Casus Belli, or can I just attack someplace without rhyme or reason? Getting a bit tired of having to wait for my Chancellor to fabricate some claims for every County I want to take, no matter how good the fellow is at his job.

You need a valid Casus Belli. You can't attack for no reason at all :3

It was in Europa Universalis. But I like it this way. If you just ran around like a headless chicken, it'd make it a wee bit to easy.

So my wife, who's the mother of the Holy Roman Empire's Emperor.. I'm just a Danish bloke trying to sow some friendship (though that apparently didn't happen, dunno how the F to get allies through marriage, but this didn't work!)
And she has an ambition, to adapt to a new lifestyle. How on earth do I help her in gaining that? o.o''

Re: Crusader Kings II!
So... House D'este.
The current Duke of Lombardia (me) is also the son of that duchess in Italy who starts the game unmarried. He's her only male heir (I killed his younger brother) and stands to inherit everything she has. Which is quite a lot, actually. 4 duchies in total or so, Modena, Ferrara and the one the duchess starts with, oh and and sploletto duchy too.
He was married to a Holy Roman Princess and had some children with her, including a male heir (two, maybe, can't remember). The princess died away and he remarried, this time with the Duchess of lower Lorraine who was also childless. They now have two daughters and a son, who stands to inherit her duchy and the duchy of Brabant iirc.
The male heir to lombardy is also betrothed to the duchess of Holland (also childless). And there are a couple of female d'este's running around creating new d'estes with lower nobility from my own court or creating marriage alliances. This is going very well I must admit
Now I'm just pondering as to how I'm going to get those titles from Holland and Lower Lorraine etc in the hands of just one of my offspring. Hmm, maybe some intermarrying will be needed >.>

If you have 50% of the counties you can form the Kingdom of Ireland, then you can invade the other counties with the reason of 'unifying' your de jure kingdom.

Change succession-laws of 'Seniority' - this way eldest member of dynasty is an heir to all estates held by all members of the dynasty. Downside, likely it won't be your son who inherits but your brother.

Really? That would be quite useful in order to get those titles unified in one pair of hands eventually.

Ah, thanks! How do I check what percentage of counties I have? When I said 50%, that was just an estimate from me, not an actual statistic. It's probably more around the 40% area.Anaei/Vezullia wrote:

Re: Crusader Kings II!
Wohoo! That bitch mother of mine finally died! Now my character is:
King of Italy.
Duke of Lombardia.
Duke of Toscana.
Duke of Modena.
Duke of Ferrara.
Duke of Spoleto.
And Count of 9/10 places.
As said before he's married to the duchess of Lower Lorraine, so offspring are going to get that title into the dynasty as well, and his son is betrothed to the duchess of Holland. My dynasty is doing well
