Re: Mass Effect 3
Bought and played it for the weekend, I must say everything is amazingly epic apart from ending, which is verry verry dissapointing and verry confusing. I don't know what Bioware were even thinking, perhaps they just rushed it because it surely looks like it. But the rest is epic, though I still prefer ME2 over ME3, probably because of ending. Though I must say ME3 multiplayer is quite fun though!
Part of me is still hoping they will continue the series, they can make and develope a plot that happend in the past - something with Protheans maybe, or they could continue whit the story from ME3, though it kinda seems impossible if you look at the endings, but I just don't want it to end since it's one of the best game series ever made imo, especially since I'm space/Alien fanatic.

Re: Mass Effect 3
They kind of screwed it up with the ending. If they'd made that a bit more... "normal" then the logical next step could have been Massive Effect which would be the mmorpg. I would play the shit out of that.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Same!
- Spoiler:
- The endings made no sense... I mean. If you chose the 'destroy all tech' ending, you've killed EDI and the Geth as well as the Reapers, and Sheperds cybernetics. That part made sense. What was off was now you have a small planet filled to the brim with aliens who can no longer communicate with each other, as I'd imagine they all have their own languages and people used translators to speak. Which will have been destroyed.
Then you've got the Quarians and the Turians, who can't eat human food. They're stuck on a human planet now.
Then you get your crew. Joker expertly navigates through a Mass Relay is it's being destroyed and they come out on green planet. Depending on the food sources, either Kaidan and the rest of the humans, plus Liara, are dead , or Tali and Garrus kick the bucket.
Something I've had to explain to a lot of people: The Catalyst explains that the Reapers only harvest the most advanced races, leaving the young ones . These races are the form that the Reapers take for the next cycle, as more will have to be made. Javik, the Promethean from the DLC, is always making offhand comments about the other races. "The Asari actually learns to write?" "Not bad for people who lived in caves." "I knew the Hannar when they were but minnows in the oceans" and stuff like that. He's also confused as to why they all share power in the Citadel. This points to Prometheans being the master race of their time. They put down the other races, didn't give them the chance to evolve. So they were the only race to be harvested by the Reapers, thus, the Reapers only have one form.
The Collectors always reminded me of Promethean husks. They had the same heads, and seemed to me like Saren and the Illusive Man. Indoctrinated. I believe they mentioned at one point in one of the games that the Reapers allowed some to live. Because they were using them to hunt down more of their kind. Which is why the Collectors are so advanced, they're clearly Prometheans.
That was another thing I hated. The Illusive Man was just Saren all over again. >.> I fucking knew I would convince him that he was under their control and he'd shoot himself in the head. At least this one didn't get back up to fuck me over.
Yeah, I put way too much thought into Mass Effect. The ending angered me.

xD
I'm just starting the whole series again from scratch, I seem to have lost my old Infiltrator Renegade save. It'll amuse me for a week or two until I finish them all 100% again. xD
yes, I 100% EVERYTHING on those games. I suck.

- Spoiler:
- Yeah was wondering the same, with Normandy being the commanding ship who led the counter-attack against reapers, then suddenly appears in the middle Mass Relay jump makes no sense at all, also this appoints them for being deserters, leaving Shepard die there..
Re: Mass Effect 3
- Spoiler:
- I was rather sad when I heard that the team rushing for the beam was decimated, because I had taken EDI and Kaidan, two of my favourites. Then I see Kaidan hop off the ship at the end and was like YESSSSS... Wait a minute...
I can see Joker figuring shit out super fast with EDI's help though, and managing to break through the relay as it was being destroyed seems like some typical Joker stuff, the guy's amazing.
I just typed [shepard] instead of the spoiler tags.

Odd. I've experienced strong headaches whenever playing ME3. A few of my friends appear to experience the same. Must be all the bright lights and excessive lens flare.

Re: Mass Effect 3
So, I finally finished the game with FemShep Paragon Infiltrator. My thoughts;
tl;dr
I loved the story and the characters and the gameplay but the ending was bad and the boss fights were lame.
- Spoiler:
- Good things:
1. Personally shooting Udina, stabbing Kai Leng and shooting the Illusive Man was all incredibly satisfying. Made of win.
2. The deaths of various party members were mostly handled very well, Mordin and Thane especially had amazingly good death scenes, and you have the option of saving Samara from her suicide so yay!
3. Grunt and Wrex being awesomesauce krogan, Garrus being awesomesauce turian, Legion coming back from the dead (I failed to keep him in the first game!) and of course, getting to score with adorable Liara again <3
4. The sense of dread and despair throughout the Citadel was incredibly atmospheric and really works to capture a realistic, and deeply personal feel to the war.
5. Did I mention Mordin? I did? Well fuck you, I'm going on about Mordin again! MORDIN WENT OUT LIKE A FUCKING BOSS!!! The very model of a scientist salarian, indeed, my old friend.
Bad things:
1. Miranda's death. It felt completley devoid of the emotion and relevance that Mordin's, Thane's, or even Tali's had (I'm sorry Tali... I'm so sorry! NOOOO!)
2. Mission to Thessia. Okay, maybe it works a little because I love the asari, but I know when I'm being manipulated to feel extra sad because the people dying aren't spiky-headed birdmen or walking salamanders but instead are cute, sexy blue girls. You don't have to keep hammering it in by showing asari soldiers dying "just before you can save them" repeatedly, I get it, I'm supposed to feel sad now! I can't even imagine how silly that sequence would be for someone who doesn't like the asari all that much.
3. Inconsequential side-characters. So, I spared Rana Thanoptis (the asari scientist working for Saren) in both ME1 and ME2. So, what's the payoff of that? ... A text-message saying she killed herself in prison after blowing up 5 people with a bomb because she went crazy, even though there wasn't a single speck of dialogue indicating that in the previous games. Uh, lame?
And what about Shiala, the asari commando absorbed into the Thorian and released by Shepard, also spared and allowed to live with the colonists she harmed and help them recover? After you even meet and (possibly, depending on choices) have a brief moment of intimacy with her in ME2, her only appearance in ME3 is to be mentioned as a war resource, giving what, 25 points to your total war readiness score?
And what about Liara's father, the asari bartender on Ilium who shows up on the Citadel? You can have her chat with Liara for a while, and after Cerberus attacks the Citadel she's just gone. Did she die? Did she just go to work somewhere else? Did she stop stalking Liara because I made them talk to eachother? Where did Conrad Verner go after he bumbled around a bit on the Citadel in that one throwaway scene? And did Urdnot Wreav just die off-screen and that's that?
What the fuck was the deal with Aria T'loak? Okay, so I did some quests to make her lead some mercenaries into battle, and then what? Was she at the Battle of Earth? Did she die on the Citadel? Was Aria the asari commando Wrex told you about in the first game? Why did she have the power to make the asari councilor do her favours at a whim? And did the Council die on the Citadel, and Captain Bailey?
And that's just the characters who make appearances in this game, what about all the rest?
And what about Lantar Sidonis? Why wasn't Pressly ressurrected as a badass cyborg just like Shepard? What was the point of the Consort Sha'ira when she didn't even appear in ME2 but was also conspicously absent in this game? AND WHAT ABOUT URZ?!?!
4. The ending(s). I'm going to be very brief about it, and say first what I liked about the endings;
I blew them up, because as I see it, my Shepard had Liara pregnant since the extremely PG sex-scene before you attack the Illusive Man's base and was fighting mainly to protect her and their unborn blue babies, and she'll be fucking damned if she turns the entire galaxy into cyborg freaks instead.
I have 2 words for you, Reaper-God-Child; FUCK! YOU! And three more; BANG! BANG! BANG!
But even with the sheer awesome that is Shepard, Avatar of Kali the Destroyer in that final sequence, the end result of the destroyed Citadel, the destroyed Mass Relays (which I happens regardless of which ending you choose) and implied mass-scale genocide of all sapient species just completley fucking torches everything unique and defining about the franchise. So yeah. Fuck that.
tl;dr

Just remember to get the "good" ending DLC just 19,99 from your local BioWare online store!
I see a good chance for profit here.
1. Make shitty shocking endings intentionally (as stated by one of the latest interviews)
2. Watch as people in the forums fill with QQ and beg for better ending DLC
3. Release a better ending DLC for good dosh
4. ???
5. PROFIT!
and people will buy it like the garbage it will be.

I've got an escape plan ready for this. After playing through 3 with my paragon maleshep and my renegade femshep I'll enter a bubble and pretend 2-3 never existed storywise. All will be good.

- Spoiler:
- WAIT, TALI AND THE GUYS DIED?! My only deaths were Thane, Legion and Mordin as I recall. The three of which seemed unavoidable. I was so sad for Legion, he was one of my favourites, and he finally calls himself "I" in his last moments, instead of "We".
I had to recreate my old Renegade Infiltrator the other day to play through to the 3rd. Finished the original Mass Effect in about a day, with all DLC and stuff, now I'm halfway through the 2nd game. I've killed Samara in this one, as I always saved her. If Samara comes back in the 3rd game, heads will roll.

- Thane and Mordin are the only ones that are unavoidable, either Legion and Tali dies depending on which side you choose. (I think they both survive if you manage to make peace between the quarians and geth, but that wasn't possible for me since Legion died in my original ME2 playthrough.) I sided with the geth because seriously the quarians are assholes <.<

- I made peace! But Legion had to sacrifice himself so that the Geth could be updated with the Reaper tech without being under Reaper control. The Geth came up to one of the Admirals and was like HI GAIZ. And she was like OH MY GOD. But then he was like "Have you thought of where you would like to start living?" and they were all pals.
