Re: Interesting lore answers from Round 2 of Ask CDev...
My question was about the status of the Draenei&Alliance. Since most Draenei NPCs in the game are members of the neutral factions: (Shattered Sun, Sha'tar, Aldor, Argent Crusade, Earthen Ring), while there are no NPCs truly fighting for the Alliance. Not even peacekeepers at Forest Song. So the question was whether that is just the way game-world is built, or is there actually lore behind it (ie: Draenei avoiding contributing to the alliance)

Gahalla wrote:Interesting bits about forsaken and the Light. Especially about priests literally hurting themselves by using it, but not destroying themselves (which hints there's something different between forsaken and the like and regular undead. Do I smell old god plot here?)
No, there's nothing different. Using it does not destroy you. Having it used against you does. Sir Zeliak was able to use it as well, afterall, and he was in the Scourge. The Forsaken would suffer the same damage as any undead if a priest used the Light against them (except with healing. The idea that healing spells destroy undead was simply a relic from the RPG game mechanics/Final Fantasy). But when they use it themselves, then it is just pain without the damage.
Also... Ebon Blade addicted to causing pain? Why do we trust these guys into our cities again?
This isn't anything new. Any DK RPers who paid attention to the starting quests already knew it, as Razuvious says it clearly during the quest to kill the failed DKs in the pit. The only thing that this quote confirms is that, even after leaving the Scourge, the DKs still feel this.

Wasn't the Hinterlands zone originally called Northeron up until the vanilla alpha or beta?
Any Gnomish developments of interest?Q: Why are gnomes suddenly interested in the Light?
A: The gnomes have had an interest in the Light since they joined the Alliance, but they were so focused on technology and, later, the retaking of Gnomeregan that studying the Light didn't feel necessary to them; the dwarven priests and paladins of Ironforge served as the only connection to the Light they needed. Now that the gnomes have reclaimed a foothold in Gnomeregan and begun rebuilding their culture outside of Ironforge, however, they've recognized the importance of having followers of the Light in their own ranks. In addition, researching new methods of purifying irradiated gnomes has led to radical advances in Light-based technology!
Has anyone rp' ed this yet? Would be very interested in how you did it, come to think of it, a priest Gnome wielding technology that draws upon the light would be awesome to attempt. But, would the gnome call himself or herself a priest, or would he or she rather be a medic? What do you people think?

Every Gnome healer/priest seems to be called medic or surgeon.

There are however Vindicators in Stonetalon Mountains, showing that indeed the Draenei are fighting alongside Night Elf contingents against the Horde.

Dunno why it was deleted or if I ever hit post but I gave this an answer a while back. Not typing it out in full again but in Valliance Keep, Borean Tundra there is a Draenei asking to summon a regiment of his men to help the war effort but is shot down because, "Much of the ALliance's army are peasants and aren't used to such exotic allies."
Essentially they aren't big fighters cause the Alliance is racist as fook. So they go elsewhere to help but do not directly help the horde keeping to their promise.

Yeah, it's a shame that there wasn't an update on the Draenei in general and some detail on their current situation within the Alliance or at least some recognition that they are due some attention from the developers.
I'd imagine that most Draenei RP'ers are aware of the scene that plays out with Harbinger Vurenn in Valiance Keep, which is pretty much the only Draenei tidbit of note that I can recall from Wrath at any rate. That reveal itself is nearly three years old now since the launch of Wrath and of course, events have moved on considerably since then from an in-game lore/IC perspective too with the defeat of the Lich King and the Shattering.
I haven't played through all the revamped old world zones yet but have there been any significant Draenei-related changes with the launch of Cataclysm? Nothing springs to mind although the leveling experience in Stonetalon could perhaps provide something with there being Vindicator NPC's around. It really seems like the Draenei have gotten short shrift since TBC.

The guy who made the racist comment, turned out to be a Cultist. If you finished the questchain, it was The damned spreading mistrust through the Alliance >).

Nope. We should have gotten an update to Forest Song, but didn't. Sigh.
About the only thing we got was a small quest chain in Swamp of Sorrows.

Well so far I know of Draenei lore they fight for the things they see good thats why Argents, Earthen Ring and what not. And on page one of this thread about Northeron being above the Twilight Highlands is bullshit. http://www.wowwiki.com/Northeron
And I tested if it was possible to enter Northeron with a flying mount but I crashed into a invisable wall.

You are quite right, I did finish the chain it was the cultist who made the comment however his comment was not denied by anyone. I think considering the lack of Draenei in major human/dwarf/gnome settlements we can probably assume it's a pretty accurate knock-on reason.

Maybe not elves, they kinda have a identity of wise old beings. But yes, it would not be surprising to see racism in azeroth. I mean modern humans cant get over the "wait he has a different colour skin" thing, so a desease that turns you to a wolf and a big blue thing with hoofs that looks kinda like a demon!

but but, that big blue thing with hoofs that looks kinda like a demon is hot!
And aren't Night Elves suppose to be a bit xenophobic?

A bit yes but keep in mind that:Kristeas Sunbinder wrote:And aren't Night Elves suppose to be a bit xenophobic?
Night elves did accept the new alliance rather fast in the third war.
The Draenei with their spaceship that had travelled through the twisting nether was accepted as well.
No quests suggesting we have any problem with a place like Everlook.
Kaldorei NPCs in almost every zone helping the rest of the alliance.
I can't actually think of any in game examples of the kaldorei xenophobia, other than the race description on the character creation screen.
