Mildly interesting read as far fetched as an idea it might be. I doubt anyone would really want to move from the already established community, with the people, contacts, guilds and so forth they have to start something new.

Especially with that guy in charge.

thow having said that creating basic start guilds creates a bit of a starter base for it to begin usualy with good rp'ers things fall into place having said that this may be his attempt at starting a new council as he has seen hjow resiliant it is his shot at power as it were

If he wants to get a super-duper-active server, he can roll on AD. If I wanted that, I'd roll on AD. I prefer the Defias Brotherhood RP community, not the 'potential super server where you don't know anyone' community.

It was a while ago I saw one of these. The attempt to create a new unified rp community. I've seen two really... Defias Brotherhood and Sporreggar. Admittedly, the former turned out pretty well. Though at no point were we -the- rp server.

The idea isn't bad as such. Uniting all rp:ers on a single server. There's merit to it. On a purely theoretical plane. In praxis it's more complex than that. Much more complex.

However... the true flaw in his idea isn't what he's trying to do. But how. He proposed conceptual guilds, a good idea. But gives no examples. He proposes pure racial guilds, which is a very loose concept, and again no explanation at what these will be or do.
He's also suggesting leading the guilds himself for the first period. Now there's a monumental task. Just heading one of those guilds is bound to be a massive effort on it's own before a reliable officer team is recruited and allowed to settle. Let alone 6. And that's on top of acting community manager.

The idea has merit. But In my opinion, Ephitos should work on it quite a lot before it's anything remotely close to implementable. He needs to physically go in and start recruiting people to his project for one. Entire guilds. He needs to flesh out his ideas.

If he can put together something that will allow me to have great fun for a few more years, then by all means I'll let him try. But until he has more than a rough sketch of a plan I'll just observe from a distance.

People won't leave their realms, especially those that are on DB and AD. The communities on both are pretty damn fierce with their opinions n' such. Plus, combining all the RP communities will always equal an explosion of drama, when various organisations from several servers try to recreate that glory on one.

'sides, I'm closer to shitting in a box and mailing it to Ephitos than I am to following any of his initiative.

The event itself proves that: a. there are still more than enough RPers out there and b. most of them are eager to RP, but won't organize server wide events and/or choose to keep the RP within their guild. So doing something about that instead of trying to get more/new people to join would be a thing to consider

As for Ephitos...I think that was discussed enough by now and the community's opinions are more than clear. I find it a good initiative but still have a bitter taste in my mouth from everything he has done so far.

There's a lot of roleplayers. Just not in the open like in the "old days", for obvious reasons. People these days to my mind go less, just strolling around and looking for it. It's more of "Any roleplaying happening anywhere?" if not, they just go do other stuff. That's why in MY opinion you don't find as much RP. Eventhough there are most likely someone roleplaying out there somewhere, but not every roleplayer uses the populated guild channels "RP search" channels. I've even met an entire goblin RP guild who hadn't heard about THIS forum, nor were in any of the channels i were in, and i'm on a lot of channels on Guldujenu =P

Good news tho he may leave the server! o/
