It's another game, and something of a gloat on my part.

Playing Eve. A roleplayer Corp declares war on my corp.

Being purely curious, I take a closer look...

Related to Lore Figure/Some other high and mighty (CHECK!)
Playing some impossible to enforce authority (CHECK!)
Lost family and out for revenge for no particular reason and without true proof of responsibility against an entire country (CHECK!)
Big guns, but no idea how to use them (CHECK!)

So which of you Stormwinders is it? Come on, own up. I know it's one of you buggers.

Surely the question there is, why are you letting your 9 year old play an 18 rated game? Surely you've set the parental controls on your kid's XBox right? 'Cos your a responsible parent and not just a mindless tool of the FOX corporation, right? Right?

For those interested the Dragon Age 2 demo is now out. Tried it myself and I like the direction its taking. Fights are more fluid aswell and thats a big plus as I wasnt a big fan of how slow and clunky one was.

You're talking 45-1 hour of playtime in the demo depending on your speed;

Im sticking with a warrior my first playthrough in retail. Bioware has portrayed Hawke as being a warrior so I will stay traditional to it and try a warrior first. Very Happy

Played Rift beta...

I liked the "feel" of the Defiant. But the models of both races were pretty cool (some atrocious hair aside).

The skill trees and class system was good, though easy to get lost in, and with very little actual "information".

But the game... for one all about Light and Dark, choices and coming back to fight a great evil... lacked any real soul. I didn't feel grabbed by the story one bit.

There's bugger all explanation of some major plot things. Why the hell do the Rifts suddenly appear in the "second part" of the Defiant first area, for instance? Why is some NPC shouting to do some quest that appears in my log? Where do I go to help?

Yes, the UI and map and stuff were quite nice. The animations good for the main (spell casting for sure looked very pretty).

But it isn't for me, as it stands. I know, it's new, was just a beta. But it just wasn't different enough, nor much better than WoW to make me jump at paying for it. Not yet.

Edit: DA2 demo. Completed, liked the look and feel of it. I really did. The mage class seemed great. A few of my massive bugbears with the original have been fixed. Though the first lost my interest quite quickly. Whilst Bioware made one of the best games of all time in my opinion (NWN) they can definitely write a story, and do RP... the first lacked something. Maybe the "soul" that Rift was missing too. In DA I just was not bothered about the characters, nor my own character really. And the fact stupid, utterly crap, conversation dead ends/choices could so utterly ruin the continuing interaction between characters really pissed me off...

Apart from the DA2 animations being a bit robotic, the combat really is a giant leap better than DA. I also really like what they've done with the dialogue system. Taking the idea from ME but leaving out the horrible Paragon/Renegade meters which made it so you had to basically pick one of the two and go with that for the rest of the playthrough if you wanted any good end result. Instead, hopefully, your dialogue choices will just decide how the story twists and turns instead, only having to worry about what your followers might think of you. :3

Rift's story is so generic and random that I found it best not to dwell on it too heavily. "There's baddies, keel" works for me. And yea, it doesn't offer much 'new' stuff. Its a collection of several tried and proven game aspects from several MMOs that's been mashed together into something that ended up 'working'. At most, I see Rift as break from the terrible bore WoW's become till we finally get to hear something new about tOR or GW2.

As to DA2. Wtf's up with the female run animation. Seriously. I actually want to break with the tradition to go with the standard fare Male "as its meant to be" (don't deny it), but watching FemHawke run is just.. ugh.

Also. Flemeth is Awesome. Period.

I bought the Dead Money dlc for New Vegas the other day.
Very well written story but some annoying running back and forth to stretch it a bit longer.
