And the Netherlands sound interesting indeed. Thus far I've greatly enjoyed Germany though. I think my next game will either be Russia or the USA.. Or Japan and make myself the Asian Great Britain, could be interesting.

One problem I do have is that some of my factories keep going bankrupt I don't mind reopening them or anything (I have 1.8m in the bank so yeah), it's just a tad bothersome.

And Paradox ftw yes. I've played HoI2 sucked at it but loved the concept. Moved on to HoI3 which I'm half-decent at and now V2 which I enjoy the most I must say.

Starting a war with both France and Russia? Enjoy is all I can say. If this had been EU3 you'd have been mowed down in a month! And poor Austria.. they rely heavily on getting their industry up and running to become a power to be reckoned with.

I've not tried either of those, USA, Japan and Russia yet. But do be careful if you go with Japan atleast, as beating China is.. well, damn near impossible for a country in the east, given their very large army.
If a factory goes bankrupt in any of my games, I simply shut it down. Why? Because it's probably gonna be useless for the rest of the game, and simply just kill my economy.

I never tried the HoI series. I've been playing EU for the most part, which is a great game. Apart from the fact that an unchecked France will be Immortal after 10 years time or so. I remember a game where a friend of mine made Germany, I made Spain and had North Africa, Italy and Greece. Even with our two powers combined, you could barely beat France because they had the same amount of men as us combined while having a tech advantage. We did win in the end, but hot damn, my friend lost 85% of his army and I lost like 65% or something.

You should really try to play the Netherlands. It's a bit of a challenge :3

Well, I had luck in my war as France refused to come the aid of Russia. I then managed to take part of Poland (the moswiezski or something region) due to my war goal. Then Italy formed and wanted me to help out in liberating Lombardia from Austria, which I did. We slapped Austria to hell and back. Then I turned on France and managed to win that too and formed Germany. Germany was formed in 1861.

Now it's late 1863/early 1864 and I've done a whole lot of industrializing. I didn't have much more than 150 industrial points in 1861 and I'm now sitting at just over 400. Partly because I took two of Austria's four most industrialized regions. Suffice to say Austria is my little plaything and it is a matter of time before I get to decide over their fate... Or someone decides to contain me, to which I say bring it on.

Yeah, I noticed China's immense armies. Those are worth worrying over.

and EU sounds quite interesting too.

And will eventually try to play with the Netherlands. Should be interesting to get into the colonial scene too.. My Germany has no colonies at all at the moment and I'd love to be a colonial power in this game, or another. Russia, Japan and the USA all offer that somewhat in my mind Razz

If you wanna be a colonial power, without going the extreme super hero G.B., you should really (as I've said so many times now!) take Netherlands or Portugal. While of course USA might be a decent choice as well, the two first options offer alot when it comes to colonies, as they already have a few around the world and can then expand from there.

What I long for in V2 and longed for in EU3 is a huge Multiplayer game, with like 8~ people. That would be so freaking awesome!

Yes it would be... And I just won a war against France, England and Belgium... Somewhat!

Half of Belgium is now mine and I had also hoped to gain some French territory but the French were bringing in reinforcements and I might have been able to handle them but I kinda doubt that. So I cut a quick peace with my enemies and retreated having increased my territory once again.

What are the defining differences between EU3 and VII ?

EU3 is over a longer period of time, like, 1300 to 1700 something I believe it was. V2 goes from 1800 to 1914 or something.
Apart from that, EU3 focusses -alot- on Wars, 'cause that's how it was back in time, while Victoria 2 doesn't have that much focus on wars, but more on diplomacy and economy.

I believe that's the defining differences, apart from the good graphics and such.

Not so much GB, more Prussia molesting me after I'd conquered denmark and it's north atlantic provinces.

Resulting in me having to accept the containment. - Which Russia noticed and saw as the perfect opportunity to virtually fuck sweden over, and my entire fleet having been sunk by Prussia, and me not having Sjælland (Which connects Sweden and Jylland). - So I was powerless to resist the russian war of containment which ravaged the swedish mainland.

Oh, did I mention the ottoman empire making a guest appearance aswell? Razz
