Right. Who's playing it? And who wants some matches later?

Campaign is going to be epic as hell.

Just got home from buying it (five goddamn hours between busses out in this no-man's land) and just about to install it. Tried some out on my friend's laptop while waiting in town though, and this far it's easily everything I've expected (IE a lot).

I just got home after going on a trip like this and I kid you not;

I got on the bus with my money, didn't have card on me so couldn't take anything out. I checked the GAME site beforehand which said 35 pounds. I had 40. So bought bus ticket. Took a 20-30 min ride over to GAME.

Get in and realise the price tag is 39.99. OH DEAR PRICE SITE IS LYING. I'm a few pounds short due to all day bus pass. No way in hell I will get it knowing the market. I go to HMV and gamestation, gamestation is same price. HMV is sold out.

I take bus 20-30 min back and pick up more money back home. Rush the fuck back out back to the bus stop waiting 15 mins for a new bus. I then realise my ex-boss who I really DO NOT WANT to be speaking to me comes to the same bus stop as she lives somewhat close to me. I evade the bustop until it comes, let her get on and bolt the fuck on myself showing my day-pass. I elude her sight as she is distracted and go to the very back behind people. I basically played a rogue IRL making sure I was always out of sight of her gaze until she got off. I guess popping evasion worked.

Get back to the town 20-30 mins later. Make it to GAME 10 mins before closing time. Get the game and enjoy my trip back...JUST IN THE DOOR.

THE END. Now to install.

No it isn't.

That price is for ONLINE purchases only; in store is always much more expensive.

Never go to gaming websites to find prices.

Woot, I just checked B-net store. And it speaks of gametime. Is it like, you can't play the game after the time ran out, or you can't play online? Pah, dissapointing. Not gonna buy it... 1.7k roubles is way too much.

Full price and they only offer 1 campaign, and you'll have to buy 2 more later on. Yeah, that's definitely something I'd pay money for.

30 missions in it or not, I'd torrent this a thousand times before I'd buy it once. Obvious cash grab is obvious, but we already knew that with Activision in the lead. Razz

30 missions is also pretty much on par with the mission count of the original Starcraft. Three times that = content for three games.

30 missions with one race means there are gonna be fillers about. Also, if zerg and protoss campaigns are indeed expansions, and not stand-alone games, it's gonna suck a lot of money out of the people who are just interested in the zerg and/or protoss campaigns since they can't skip paying for the terran one.

There's also the hilarious debacle of only being able to play in one region, and you have to pay for a new game to be able to play in another region...

I'd say the ones interested in only one or two of the campaigns are in a minority compared to the people who are interested in all three as well as the whole story.

Rare or not, how come that possibility existed with Battle.net 1.0, but not anymore? This gets even worse with teams going on tournaments in other regions, as they too will need a second copy of the game to play there, as there's not even a LAN option in place.

Just because it's not "rare" doesn't mean it isn't a horrible idea to support it.

Righto, been playing for a bit now. The campaign seems pretty good this far, storytelling wise. The hub-based mission structure is cool and I like the way all the characters and backstory exposition is available, but not force-fed to you if you don't want it.

Playing on Hard, I found quite a few missions kicked my scrawny Terran behind to kingdom come one or two times before I got the jist of it - and mind you, I'm barely even getting started on the campaign this far, about six missions in - but some missions get quite annoying not because they're hard, but because they're boring.

"Collect X resource" missions weren't fun when the Warsong had to do it in WarCraft III, and one mission is just one, long escort quest. Screw that! Bah. I'm still enjoying myself, and I tested out Protoss in skirmish and discovered that Warp Gates are not only supremely evil, but also really fucking cool. No regrets!

I have two things about this game I dislike, the first being the extreme "Trial and error"-nature of some of the missions where they just keep blind-siding you with new things as it goes on. In some missions it works quite well, because it forces you to think fast and adapt.

However in some missions, you can't adapt because this stuff comes right the hell out of nowhere and you have no counter for it - in this case, a particular mission I played before told me to take out some heavy ground units with some flashy new tanks, only to then throw air units at said tanks when the only units I had capable of shooting back were Marines, totally demolishing my army and forcing me to play another map first just to unlock the goddamn anti-air units...

Most of the missions aren't like that, but the ones that are really bother me.

The other thing is the new StarEdit. It's... Just crap. The terrain editor is clumsy and I have no bloody idea how the unit/device editor is supposed to work. That's a bad thing when the already reasonably complex editor in WarCraft III was still user-friendly enough that I could figure it out when I was thirteen... Going to poke around it more and see if I missed something incredibly obvious.

I didn't find the laser drill mission that difficult on hard. 5 siege tanks and 2 bunkers on both choke points, six missile turrets around the drill. Laserpewpew the colossi and the immortals. Walk in the park with no tight spots whatsoever. Most of the time the waves couldn't even land a hit.

That terrazine gas mission on the other hand made me wish they had at least used some lube.

We clearly have very different playstyles if you found something hard that I found easy and viceversa.
Although I suppose the number of available troop options affects things as well.

It makes me sad that, playing on Hard, most of my attempts at complex strategies with combined arms, heavy weapons and fancy maneuvers are crushed utterly, but a huge clot of Marines and Medics can brute-force their way through pretty much anything, including heavy Protoss formations, with relative ease.

Of course, throwing hundreds of Marines to their deaths to wear down an enemy base defence is probably not doing wonders for this revolution...
