I hate how lord of the rings so closely followed the books.

Quite simply put, to reitterate my point, the books were exciting but not to the extent a film has the possibility to be. I want to experience a whole new story and be engrossed in an original story. It is what I love about the Walking Dead show. Having read all of the comics up to date, I love when they do something unexpected.

They did say that they are not using the books or its lore.

I'm not sure if movies like Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3 are the best credentials for the writer of the new movie.

We shall see, it might turn out to be quite good. I mean, if Lucas managed to mess things up with 1-3, what's the worst thing that could happen? I've seen mentions on the internet about it and quite some of the time, negative. I mean, how can people know what the movie will be like before it's even out?

I will reserve judgement for when I watch it, the Star Wars universe is vast and can have so many awesome story lines explored, just look at what Bioware did during ToR with their lore for an example. It could be awesome, it could be mediocre and it would be crap.

Whatever the case, we are getting more Star Wars and I am happy, at least for that fact. And also, about all the mentions about Disney. Disney is not your cartoon making studio anymore, it is this huge international corporation that bought things like Marvel and so many more other companies. On the downside, they could just make a mediocre film to milk the franchise.

I liked those two movies he made. And yeah you may say that Toy Story 3 was a cartoon, omg! But it was actually a pretty amazing movie made with the setup he had. If he can do just as well with a different setup, then I will be very happy.

It's not the quality of the movies I'm worried about. It's their genres. Does the writer have what it takes to write good sci-fi? Then again, one might argue that Lucas doesn't...

Starwars was and never will be good Sci-Fi

Its space Fantasy, its the hero's journey, and its awesome as that.

The actual genre that Star Wars belongs to is space opera, actually. So ye.
