Re: New Star Wars Trilogy!?!
I was saying to a friend yesterday, we'd have to do an entire day of all Lord of the Rings followed by the Hobbit trilogy, then realised that it would probably be impossible with all extended editions. It would literally be 24 hours!erwtenpeller wrote:

That challenge was issued and accepted as soon as the word came out that the Hobbit was gonna have a threesome.
Other accepted, but uncompleted challenges:
- All 8 Harry Potter Films.
- The Marvel-verse movies leading up to Avengers.
And, the ultimate of challenges, to be accepted when the requirements are met:
- All episodes of all seasons of Game of Thrones. Back to Back.

It was originally going to be a two parter, but he decided on a trilogy with the additional notes that Tolkien made, e.g Gandalf buggering off for half the book to deal with the Necromancer. So stuff like the council of Wizards. I trust him to do it well! This is probably how they'll be...Drefurion wrote:Vaell wrote:I was saying to a friend yesterday, we'd have to do an entire day of all Lord of the Rings followed by the Hobbit trilogy, then realised that it would probably be impossible with all extended editions. Film 2: Mirkwood, Beorn the Druid dude, Laketown and Dale. Arriving at Dragon.
Film 3: Killing of Dragon. Elves and Men gathering to attack the Dwarves in Erebor. Major stuff with the Necromancer in Mirkwood. War of the Five Armies and hometime!

people really are over reacting though
if it's shit, you see it once, you ignore it,
if it's good, then you have another good movie?
i mean like, franchises have been rebooted successfully before and like, episode 3 was sick anyway (come at me bitches, all of you haters)

I think we old buggers gotta admit to something. There is today two "Ewok" lines.
The original one, and the "Jar Jar Binks" one.

Re: New Star Wars Trilogy!?!
Fun fact: The Avengers, a nerd movie you all loved, was also a Disney movie.
Stop your complaining and wait. Odds are this is going to be great. The Star Was expanded universe is rich and bountiful and there are plenty of great stories to tell still on the silver screen. Your skepticism is irrational and mostly based on completely wanton bitterness and some "George Lucas raped my childhood" memetic bullshit. The whole hate against Episodes I, II and III would never have reached this level if it weren't for the internet and its propaganda effects on how you percieve media. I'm blaming a certain Harry S Plinkett in particular.
Sheesh. Take off those shades already.

It seems Eira removed her comment.
I am with her though, never was a big Star Wars fan. I don't dislike it per se, I just don't like it either.
I am definitely curious to the Disney, I think most of here agree and what's said is just banter, really.

You don't even know what a creative consultant does, you jackass: nobody does, because it isn't a proper function; it's like being an executive producer. It doesn't mean anything, and you can't learn anything about the movie from this, absolutely zilch
People, like so often, are just looking for reasons to justify their pre-established bitterness and hatred for something. If you're already set on hating something, you're going to find plenty things to hate it for.

Re: New Star Wars Trilogy!?!
Ths issues of Episode 1, 2, 3 are quite simple tbh. They are a little too focused on the action which takes you away from the oppression that the original trilogy really set.
I mean, I actually really like Phantom. Jar Jar is annoying, true. But that wasn't my main issue. Midichlorian counts were. The Force was always this great mysterious spiritual magic. Magic is exactly what it was to begin with, then they added the physical attribute and calculation that took away a lot of the "leave it to your imagination" that it was. It is like Metzen claiming you have a reading on how strong a Paladin is with the light. Other than that, I loved the opening where they start off on the space station, I love Pod Racing and the whole of the section on Tatooine, the story was great and immersive with plenty of characters and the ending battle was brilliant on all fronts.
Episode 2 and 3 had their problems, there were a fair amount of bits and bobs which didn't work but there was only one true problem which puts them on a lower bar than Phantom and that is quite simply Anakin "Hayden Christensen" Skywalker. He was whiney, his lines were all said in the same way, he just ruined Vader for me. It made Vader's evil supreme lord seem like a kid's revenge plot and he just kept going!
But the prequels were good fun. They just missed out a few key loves of Star Wars that fans had gripped onto in the original trilogy. Lucas did his worst to the franchise with the re-editing of the original trilogy by putting stuff like;
- Greedo shoots first.
- Changing Boba's voice to that of Jango.
- Showing the mysterious crime lord Jabba in the first film...
I just hope for the sequel trilogy they actually choose to avoid all the previous stars. Mark Hamill is my Joker and forever will be! Han could do a cameo and as sweet as Carrie Fisher is (I do adore the lady!) she is a little out of shape for the life Leia would have lead.

Not everyone did have any hopes (or dispairs) about any Marvel film.

The way to deal with the prequel films is to watch in machete order.
Also a great article for observations like this:
Also a great article for observations like this:
The first time we see Luke in Return of the Jedi, he’s wearing all-black, just like his father did. He gives R2D2 and C-3P0 to Jabba the Hutt, much to their surprise. Luke isn’t exactly looking like a clean-cut Jedi like he claims. Then, when he finally enters Jabba’s palace, the musical cue sounds a bit like the Imperial March, and the way he enters with the light behind him makes it unclear if he is Luke or Vader. Then, he force chokes Jabba’s guards, something only Vader has done in the series! Nobody else sees him do this.
When he confronts Jabba, he warns him that he’s taking his friends back. He says Jabba can either profit from this, “or be destroyed.” Furthermore, he tells Jabba “not to underestimate my power.” The last time this phrase was used, it was by Anakin when dueling Obi-Wan. When watching Jedi on its own, Luke just seems a tad arrogant during these scenes. When watching Jedi immediately after watching Revenge of the Sith, the message is clear: Luke Skywalker is on the path to the Dark Side.
