To be fair, Pokemon is essentially a game about the exploitation of animals for use in blood sports. It's no wonder PETA wouldn't like it.

As someone involved in animal-rights and quite critical of most PETA campaigns, I actually found that funny and cute.
I mean, the knee-jerk reaction of most meat-eaters will be to go "OMG dey h8 games and fun dnt they like n e thing?!!!" and act all offended but really its not so much anti-pokemon or whatever but just applying an animal rights view of the world to a popular game.

It was funny and cute untill Ash showed up and they portrayed him as not caring. Omg, it took him less than one episode to respect Pikachu's wish to remain outside of his pokéball and he ALWAYS treated pokémon with respect. He even DIED for his pokémon in the first Mewtwo movie....

However this game is trying to "teach" people about cruelty to... Pokemon apparently but when you play it and try to use skills like protest, petition, hug etc you aint going to get far...[sarcasm] You got to win the fight with outright violent attacks and if there's anything that taught me, is that I need to go grab a knife and kill other humans.[/sarcasm]
Also a "reward" is meant to be something good, not HEY LETS REWARD YOU FOR USING VIOLENCE AGAINST A HUMAN WITH SAD VIDEO.
[sarcasm]PETA making people more violent to people to "help animals". Known as their only move ever. Let's not even get started on the hypocrisy that PETA have in all this.[/sarcasm/half truth]
Also I remember their angst against super mario wearing some racoon skin suit once. Just heh.

Oh dear, Eira. I expect more from you than that! These are the same old comments used by aging Christians arguing that games cause kids to shoot up schools. Just a shock-tactic against anything they do not like being represented in a video-game/any other type of media.Eira wrote:However this game is trying to "teach" people about cruelty to... You don't really think someone is gonna go release animals from a farm, or an animal-testing lab because of PETA's pokemon game, do you? (they totally should though )
But yeah, PETA sucks (mostly for their objectifying and sexist ads than anything) but I think the game is funny. I don't think they're completely serious. The 'outrage' from the gaming community is though, and thats pretty sad.

Shit, guess sarcasm doesn't appear well on the internet. Maybe there should be a [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] support for certain parts.
Also in response to the part I bolded. No I don't believe it, but then I wouldn't be surprise if in the bizzarre scenario they do.
EDIT: Fixed earlier posting for obvious sarcasm clarification.

I think PETA's game is rather cute. The production value of it isn't that bad either.

Not only does this guy crack me up for reasons I cannot explain, I swear, with this particular video, I've discovered where Blizzard discovered their sound effects for the Zerg.

My electric toothbrush has been turning itself on and off today, really strange to wake at 4 am to the sound of a huge wasp.
