I was making a custom muslim ruler in the ruler designer. His randomly assigned surname was "Mahdi".

HE WAS THE MAHDI! (Shaelyssa will get this).

And I truly do not seem to get playing as a Muslim yet.

The faction system will sure make it worthwhile to play a lowly vassal in a huge realm. But then, I always end up taking over. Should try starting as a byzantine count one day and see if I can get the empire!

PS: Having a -very- interessting game. Surprisingly, Holy Roman Empire expanded into Poland and Russia. Fatimids united Egypt, Arabia, Syria, Mesopotamia and Jerusalem in an empire and are expanding into Italy. Africa managed to nearly form an empire as well, but collapsed. And I am playing as Cuman Khaganate. Empires all over!

Could peeps do me a solid? I wanna get a CKII Multiplayer going with all of us, as many as we can. If you could, Private Mail me to let me know if you are interested, as well as what DLCs (Any and all, so SoI or Mongol Faces) you use, and if you think a certain mod should be used. And if you wanna bugsy a player, do so. I'm thinking you should at least play a Duke upwards for multiplayer.

Duke Godefroy de Boulogne has been proclaimed the Protector of the Holy Sepulche, a title in effect making him the King of Jerusalem. All of Christendon is praying for the liberation of the Christian holy city of Alexandria, and perhaps the conquest of the land between the two rivers where the people of Israel were kept captive. Will the fledgeling Crusader-state endure?

Goal is to eradicate Islam and make Christendom prevail from Andalusia to Khwarizm. Let's put Crusading in Crusader-kings!
You can save and restart in 'frustrating situations'. Like...your duke dying before getting an heir and half your kingdom going to another Realm. Or all muslim rulers calling Holy War on you at once. Don't reload if your conquests go badly, or if your assassination fails.

Coups against an Emperor don't usually end up well because of the Stacks of Doom he can bring against you, unless you time them during a succession crisis which -always- start when a new one is elected. In the best case, it can reduce the Kaiser to the power of a mid-sized country like France, around 20k men fielded in total, divided into a few 8k or smaller stacks, and that force is fighting several enemies because pretty much all the strongest Dukes try to claim the throne for themselves.

It's still a hard war to win though, your best hope is Blitzing like a true German and signing peace before the Empire unifies under one Emperor or another.

Slowly but surely the Hashimids are expanding.. Unfortunately I've been taken captive by another person which has gotten me into a regency.

I've a lot of sons coming of age whom I'd rather not give things to keep my decadence down. The captive emir is nearing 70... I'm really divided on whether I should let him die in jail or free him so that I can expand a bit more...

Yeah could do that. I already got my succession arranged for two generations. Got one quite decent son (3/5 of his skills are vary from 12-17). Now he has a son who's a genius. So that guy's probably going to be a great faction leader. I'm also trying to breed the first of a couple of families whom I hope will become quite prominent in my future empire (have them as councilors and with some territories etc).

I think I might be able to unite the kingdom of Arabia in 10 years tops if things keep on going like this. And then I'll probably point my arrows at Syria or Mesopotamia, uniting all those places until I can truly gain my independence from the god damn Turks.
