There is quite some strength in the ability to turn adults into children, noses into slime factories and soup into the main food.

Obviously the flu is a bioengineered weapon created by the soup companies.

And everyone shut up about vegetarianism, it's being pretty effective in dividing the community. And I don't wanna hate Shae :<

Remembering a webcomic you used to read, then forgot about for some reason and now found it again...with +500 new pages/strips added since the last time you read it. Who the hell's going to start reading up on all that?! Not me!

Never claimed all predators are. Sharks are predators yet they can't survive in too warm water.

Who says nature is searching for a moral justification on how animals survive? When we slaughter two or three cows in abit more primitive way, the world shit bricks. Yet when Tigers in India mutilates two or three cows, spilling their guts everywhere and eating their flesh, people say "It's just their way to survive in the wilds". Why is that? The reason: Humans are intelligent. We can think beyond just our animal instincts, our natural survival instincts. So no, we arn't on the top when it comes to "survival of the fittest" since we're getting babied by ourselves. Hence why humans arn't considered as savage animals, which we probably would be if it wasn't for evolution where the -fittest- humans survived.
Shaelyssa wrote:

Funny how that works, since our digestive system can't break down the things herbivore's eat, once again proving we're not the fittest. Our teeth fits the animal of a omivore though, hence why can eat close to everything.

Considering we've adapted throughout thousands of years to where we are today while other animals have just disappeared, I'd say we're quite adapted. A common cold isn't dangerous (unless you have a weak immune system). However, diseases have always been there, and not just for humans. Since we have survived against diseases for a long time, we can still do that. And since we are adapted and intelligent beings, we can actually find a cure for most diseases. And Shae, there is a certain cure for cold. It's called taking asprins, lying down and resting for a few days. And not getting sneezed into your face.

Reminds me of that time I was watching national geographic channel and found out that eating the brains of a monkey, while it's still alive, is considered a delicacy somewhere in the world.

I think Koreans do the same but with octopuses ... or was it the Chinese?

They twirl the thing around a pair of chopsticks and swallow it while it's still alive and moving. It can suffocate you too and the threat of dying apparently adds to the thrill and pleasure of eating it :(

And I just found the clip on youtube!

Yes, I am. That's what happens alot when studying biology. It's a fucking confusing subject. What I was getting towards with that, is that humans can think beyond just "Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat" (Which is a demo-album by Slipknot). Incase a polar bear is hungry and then it sees a injured baby seal on the ice, the first instinct of the bear would be to eat it to survive. Since we can think beyond that, we'd probably show compassion towards it and try to help it. Although, that's just me speculating.

Edit: I love fried octopus. Alive octopus? Yeeeaaaahno.

Health Visitors.....

So we've started having these visiting us now in preparation for our first baby due in a week.

They are obsessed with breast-feeding, and I mean obsessed as in, it's all they talk about, now I have no problem with this Kylie (my better half), by choice, would prefer to breast feed, however she suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis and one of the drugs she is on means she can not breastfeed. So they've forced her to come off them, meaning she's in agony most of the time to the point I don't think she'd even going to be able to hold the baby let alone feed it. She's not very good at standing up for herself (bullied at school with silly parents who told her to tell teacher rather than fight back grrr another rant for another day.) I had to talk to said Health Visitor, now I am aware I can be very dry and very sarcastic, mainly because it's fun watching people squirm when they can't argue with me. However I was told if we don't breastfeed we are bad parents and not giving him a good start, now I've read the evidence for and yes I agree it may be MARGINALLY better, considering I was completely bottle fed and don't have any of the issues they state are almost certain without breastfeeding, especially the silly intelligence arguments, I have a far above average IQ, so that's that argument null and void as far as I am concerned.

Because Kylie is a worrier (Another habit I hate, worrying is pointless, sort the problem, don't worry over it.) And she can feel guilty over tiny things, she is just doing what they say, regardless of the problems it will cause her, and him when he's born since I'll be back at work all day and there is no way she'll cope as it is. I hate them already and by all accounts they only get worse, think I'll be banning them from my house quite soon after he's born...

And of course, said Health Visitor has never had children, but has read a book on the subject FFS!

Jesus fuck, Chrystan.
Let me get this straight.. She has a disease that causes her alot of agony, so she has to take medicine to be able to make it through the days. That medicine makes her unable to breast-feed. Yet people tells her to stop taking the medicine just because they think that "women that dont breast-feed their children are uncaring parents"? That's the only reason, right?

If that's the case, they should mind their own fucking business.

Pretty much it Eowale.

Sadly they have a fair bit of power in this country and when my brother told them to go and do one they got social services to watch them and stuff.

I hate the Nanny State the UK insists on increasing.

the answer is simple.

Don't breastfeed.

Its not that hard a decision... its better then spending 6 months in total agony...

Sure the Brown munchkin won't get as much anti-bodies, or produce the hormones that increases the connection between mother and child... but its not like that's life-threathening nowadays

That's pretty much my opinion Amaryl, sadly in the UK they make your life a living hell if you decide not to breastfeed, even to the point they have refused to prescribe her the drugs she needs because it will stop her breastfeeding.

Silly country.
