Actually there was, but it wasn't directly related to our eating habbits. If I remember correctly, a heavy, big jaw was one of the attributes that appeared "manly" to our ancestors. At some point in time, women started choosing less "brute" men, favoring more gentle and loyal men to increase their chance of success in offspring. As I recall it, this was partly related to a change in our sex habbits (as a result of walking on 2 legs) where coupling and loyalty became a key to success for offspring.
So.. Gentler features, including a lighter/smaller jaw were considered favorable. Perhaps a tad of that instinct remains.

I remember when my brothers gf called me when I was at work and demanded I come to her house and get rid of this animal that'd got it. I honestly thought I would find a bear in her kitchen, she was panicking so much. Fucking pidgeon sitting in her living room.
