It is the rare pandaren indeed who sought a way beyond the mist. Generations ago, pandaren explorers began to gather on the back of a giant turtle: Shen-zin Su. The great sea turtle roamed Azeroth's oceans, perhaps the only contact pandaren had with the outside world. Eventually, they too lost contact with their mist-shrouded homeland.

Players who choose to create a pandaren character will start their journey on the back of Shen-zin Su. When the great turtle is threatened, and their whole wandering homeland is in jeopardy of being swallowed by the sea, players will have to accelerate their training and spring into action.

During their time on the turtle, players will first encounter the Alliance and Horde. Before they are finished, they'll have to make the most important decision of their lives: Which of the two factions will they support as they venture out to heal a world broken by the Cataclysm and threatened by a global war?

Well that means that cross faction comm. Will be harder to justify, seeing as you're one tribe.
And sounds very familiar... Sailing around and encountering the horde / alliance...

I like that they can join both sides. It's cool. They could have done the same for goblins, but they feel like they belong on the horde you know... Yeah.

Just had a look at the talent panel, it's pretty snazzy, I can really dig these changes.

Hmmm....point taken

Anyway, trolling aside, I'm glad that at least there's no "end-game" boss to kill like Deathwing or Illidan, just good old Alliance vs Horde scenario. I guess they finally ran out of archvillains to kill, eh?

Not at all. There's plenty of those to go around still. Its just that they figured that the whole Archvillain model is getting stale and dreary. An assement I fullheartedly agree with.

I for one am REALLY hyped about Pandarens. They are in my oppinion one of the most fascinating and complete races in Warcraft lore. They've always been asian-themed aswell, so the thoughts of them copying from AoC's release is invalid, really. People seem biased about it being another "furry" race or have just grown accustomed to giving very bitter remarks about any effort Blizzard makes towards progressing the game onwards.

That's just blatant BS. The Pandaren were just a trademark funny thing Samwise started doing. Blizzard put them in their April's Fools joke and they put them in the expansion because people WANTED them in. Now that's fine but the only -actual lore- on Pandaren prior to this is what we have from the Neutral Hero in WC3. That's it. That's -all-.

I'm not being too bitter about it, but you just have to wonder what Blizzard was thinking overall. I'm all for adding new stuff and lore to the world, but just looking at the theme going through this coming expansion makes no sense to me at all. First there's Nefarian and Ragnaros. Then there's Illidan, Kael'thas, Vashj and Kil'jaeden. Then there's the Old Gods and the Lich King. Now there's Deathwing and Cho'gall destroying the world. Next?

Pandaren. That's basically it. There's not much else we have to take in about the expansion. The Monk class seems great. The talents seem pretty damn awesome (especially Druid, Warlock and DK). There's apparently an escalation in conflict between the Horde and the Alliance but I feel like we've been hearing about that since WotLK and I still don't see them changing the entire concept of the game into a PvP based one. I just don't see the appeal in the rest of the expansion, which is basically the entire thing. The entire aesthetic appeal and focus of 2-3 years worth of content is completely uninteresting to me. A break from chaos and destruction is cool, and it'd be fine if it was just a patch, but this is an -entire expansion-.

In the end though, it's not like it matters a great deal RP-wise. I doubt Pandaren will have an overwhelming population of players and it's not like a lot of RP will center around Pandaria, much like BC. I will personally never be able to take Pandaren RP serious though. They started as an April's Fools and I don't see anything changing that in this expansion. A few people seem to enjoy Pandaren. Good for them. Meanwhile one can compare the public response to the reveal trailer. It's not accurate information for the entire WoW community, but the simple Like/Dislike bars on the different trailers do show a discrepancy when compared to the previous ones. I think the response on various forums mirrors this.

Oh well, I am personally looking forward to the Bard class next expansion! Gotta roll one of those!

Also this expansion is, for as far as I understand, all about war. Horde VS Alliance. Pretty darn awesome if you ask me. Nice for a change.

In all seriousness, I would kill for a bard class.

Obviously without the guitar hero controller, but still. Bards are bloody awesome and one of the cornerstones of D&D that is still missing in World of Warcraft. Even more integral than Monks, I'd say.

One thing I am frustrated by is they don't seem to have even vaguely sketched out what Pandaran females will look like...I suspect after Blizz's approach to all the other 'monstrous'/animalistic females it'll be something vile like:
