Re: Guild Wars 2
They removed the entire "Healer, DPS, TANK" in essence. If someone dies, he/she is not using his or her skills well enough or someone else did something wrong.

Since there's the whole multiclass ability, I suspect PvP will be more or less imbalanced, and if so, hopefully only in the beginning.

Re: Guild Wars 2
Even if someone does anything wrong, it's not their fault a party or a group perish. Each player can heal themselves, support others and so forth. If you die, then it's your fault and that won't make the rest fail. Even if your in a fight of 1 vs 3, in PvE, you can still turn the advantage and kill all the mobs.
As for the PvP, it won't be imbalanced since, like the previous Guild Wars game, you will go at the same level as the rest of other players and have the same skills as you would have at that level.

Along with the whole dodge mechanism, which makes the person invunerable for the duration of the dodge animation, means that anyone who does die is simply being an idiot. I like the whole removal of the stereotypical roles as it means everyone seems that they can have fun, instead of sitting back healing everyone and getting blamed if a wild DPS stands in the nice big AoE that you are not meant to stand in.

The only real problem with the class system is that it's so different to what came before, so people wont be used to it. And gamers have a habit of hating things that break from the norm, so, expect lots of whining.

That's humanity in general. With my job entails showing how bad the normal vacuum cleaner actually is (PS. It sucks. It only makes it look clean, it doesn't clean for shit). But a lot of people refuse to believe it because well. That's why they have one.Lyniath wrote:The only real problem with the class system is that it's so different to what came before, so people wont be used to it. Still, if people just get in there, and either figure things out or get -constructive- help to better understand it. I think it'll go well.
And well, you can do a full dungeon with the same party member acting like a "designated support" and having a "tank" that's a single player. Just that the people who play with everyone fluid will be by far more effective from what I've seen and understood.

For a random dungeon etc. Yes.
But for highly effective dungeon runs I'd say you want to know the people you're gonna be going with better than in WoW.
If you want to do an explorable mode dungeon you'll want to know that the people you play with have good game.

Re: Guild Wars 2
wait wait...
does that mean i can have my necromancer use pistols? o.O
. So for my most beloved Mesmer, I had a scepter in one hand and a pistol in the other. This combination gave me the Illusionary Duelist skill in slot 4, which creates an illusion (clone) of my character that unloads dual pistols on the enemies. Taking that pistol away and adding a one-handed sword gives me an Illusionary Swordsman skill that works similarly.
With each weapon you wield, you start off with just one skill, but using that item more often will eventually open up more and more skills on your bar. You can actually see the percentage of progression toward that next skill evolve as you use that weapon more often. So you can become proficient with a sword

Necromancers can't use pistols. But they can use axes.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Weapon There's a graph/table with all weapons, and what classes that can use them.

Decided to Roll Engineer instead of Necromancer, I suppose being Steam punk seems nicer than running around summoning vast hordes of undeads.
Least I get to say "Building a Sentry here" if I have any option to do so.
