I was already fine with it. I could have Argentina be industry leader 25 years after flipping out of dictatorship, I'm terrified with what they'll do to the U.S.A's industry scores.

Took three hours for me to get Vic 2 working on this PC.

So, started a USA game yesterday. After a quite lengthy war with Mexico I got all of the US states from them but Oklahoma (sadly that was a lost colonisation). Still in truce after that.

It's closing in on 1850 and the UK declared war on me for getting Idaho. Hoping to be at least able to fight them off. How is it being in the war with the UK? from people with experience. Will they put in their full military score or do I only have to worry about being fleetfucked and then what ever military they might have in canada?

I also need to get Washington from them. Since I was stupid and didn't get the quicker colonisation tech at start. And I also had a fancy event that gave me US cores in all of British Columbia. For 5 infamy (had 0 Before this)

You're going to have trouble with the British navy and troops in Canada. I can't , at all, exclude them landing troops. I've been smart enough to avoid war with them over that decision. But in PDM they do make amphibious landings. Usually they're lousily supported, but they're there.

Well, here's hoping that I'll be able to fight the US at least into a white peace.

Really love the money changes in AHD, now you can even run out of money as prussia. Heresy!

By 1853 I had unified the German Empire and had roughly 100 factories and tons of railroads invested to foreign nations!

Still can't wait for PDM because the immigration/assimilation drives me mad, in 10 years all of Bulgaria was turkish, Finland russian and most austrian land was south german majority.

Money worries seem fine when you're playing Prussia or France, but uncivs can't actually turn a profit until they have military funding at 10% along with education at 10%, no stockpiling, no ships, no regulars.

Also, the AI now hates Japan. I wish I knew why. I've tried twice as Japan now, and the moment Russia finishes colonizing Sakhalin, I get hit by the mother of all alliances as Russia drags the Netherlands, China, the U.K and France/Belgium/Spain (any or all of the last three) in to war for Shumshu.

I managed to westernize as Yemen, with a hegemony over Arabia. Finished that game as a secondary power, and managed to squeeze in a moderately sized colonial based out of the horn. I have found Yemen easier to play than Japan.

Argh! I've just bought AHD. I still had PDM on my pwetty Victoria 2 install, anyway it crashed while loading history files. I uninstalled it (via Steam), so PDM shouldn't cause problems, and then tried to run it again. It crashed while loading history files again.

Anybody know how to fix this problem?

Correction: It just crashed while "loading events"

You should uninstall the game completely, then reinstall it.
Once it's fully patched, install PDM.

In that sequence, or you'll corrupt files.

Yeah, I noticed after a while that even if I uninstalled it Steam would keep the Victoria 2 files on my pc. I deleted those, reinstalled the game and everything went quite smoothly. Also, is it just me or does it take longer to occupy provinces?

I started a fresh game as Russia last week, and things have gone swimmingly.

I conquered all of Europe up until the modern border of Turkey in the east, to the French, Italian, German Border in the west. Moreover, I conquered and colonised all of what is modern day Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia and Alaska.
Later, I released all nations, and now have an army of satellite states. These being: Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Bohemia-Maravia, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus and Hawaii.


Even later, I waged war against the Ottoman Empire, and came out as the victor. After two years of war, I forced Spain, Portugal and the Ottoman Empire (now Turkey) to become my dominions. Furthermore, I added Egypt, Japan and Afghanistan to my sphere of influence, and forged alliances with Germany and Italy.

Russia is a true superpower now!

Nice. I just fought the American civil war on behalf of the Confederacy. I must say that it was a truly great affair. From the outset it was clear to me that I couldn't seriously take the fight to the North, so I fought a defensive war in which I was outnumbered. I managed to force a status quo peace upon the North on September 5th 1862. Really felt like a war of survival and I think I only managed to win that quickly because I sacrificed quite a few brigades and kept a mobile main force.

Just had a nice finish in 4th as Denmark. Would have been 2nd or 1st if the North German Federation didn't have a 50-year alliance with the U.K and France. I even had Russia in my sphere.

Agh. Having to reinstall Victoria II now.

I am currently conducting an 'experiment'.

I began as the United Kingdom, and began by generating casus bellis against the Chinese sub-states.

My first research goal was medicine. I set tariffs to maximum, all taxes to maximum.

I invaded and annexed China over about 30 years, in which time I also formed the Raj. I also continued down the medicine line, and allowed rebellious sentiment amongst the masses 'push' me in to reform. A full blown healthcare system.

By 1873, China was completely annexed. I then began formulating CBs on Persia, Russia, and the various other central asian states.

It is 1876 now, and I control over 75% of the world's supply of food. I have my farmers permanently mobilized. The world's supply of liquor is too low to support regulars anywhere outside of France, Austria, the U.S.A and Argentina. The fact that all my population equates to farmers in China and India means that the farms are full. They migrated elsewhere to completely flood every RGO in my empire. I am purposefully avoiding techs that increase RGO output. My population growth is over 20,000 adult males/day.

France's population has collapsed due to a lack of acquisition of life needs, as have those of almost every country in Europe. The U.S.A has a population of almost 60 million adult males now, the only comparable population being mine, at over 400 million. Some tag swapping has shown me that none of the major world powers have more than 25% of their population receiving life needs.

My plan? World conquest. Because there are no craftsmen or artisans, there are no guns, artillery, or new ships. Only irregulars and mobilized poor strata population fight now. There are no capitalists, or aristocrats, or officers, or soldiers.

I am leveling the playing field, and bringing world order in a truly egalitarian nightmare. All shall starve under the banner of Great Britain.
