I used to have a blood angel army over 200 figures strong and I gave it away to my cousin. I wish I didn't. But I think i'm going to start buying a few more every now and then just to paint. I can't get my around the rules anymore to play it XD I just love eyecandy >_>

Been 3 months since I painted Boss Snikrot, took me 2 weeks to do, added moss aswell, dude looked bitchin! kinda like a Orc rogue

Just got back with the last Retribution Collector's Edition they had in the store - Ironically it seems they are ONLY stocking the Collector's Edition around where I live.

For the same price as the regular (£35 anyways) its not too bad; large decent quality poster, army postcards and a compilation of the Wargear packs for every army they had (individually) as DLC.

W40K has sucked ever since around 1998. The dumbing down of rules killed it for me.

I used to work for games workshop in Southampton from 1994-1996 and i saw nothing but hideous changes coming from head office trying to force changes about every system of game we played and the way we taught new peeps the rope at playing the games.

In one memo from our regional manager that said that all employees had to shout "YAY!" and wave their hands in the air whenever the beginner killed an opponent.

But i digress...

I find it increasingly hilarious and depressing the further we get into 5th edition that THQ and FFG captures 40k better than GW themselves.

So, I was reading some WH40k forums regarding the new Grey Knights codex and what I stumbled upon was.. well.. mind blowing. So the supreme grand master of the Grey Knights got cursed by a daemon to spend eternity in the warp, and the guy went across and started to burn daemon worlds on his own, killing Hordes of Daemons on his own.

Whats more.. odd is that he killed a Daemon primarch and took his scythe reforging it into a Nemesis force weapon without precedent.. and here is the cherry on the cake.. guy went and ran rampart across Nurgle's garden.. destroying it.. after which.. he destroyed Tzeneetch's city.

Now, I am not sure if that is the ultimate badassery or butchery of the lore, but one thing is for sure, by the way this Supreme Grand Master is described he is probably the baddest motherfucker in the universe right now.

The amount of Gary Stu-ish elements that is acceptable, is in direct correlation to the amount of gore, blood and general badassery that is performed untill a specific critical mass is achieved where all Gary Stu-ish behavior is undergoes a face meltdown and fuses into kick ass?

Hmmm... isn't that kinda suggesting... he is just now... kinda... so far gone into "being a killer of chaos" he has become that himself? chaos destroying itself? He is chaos working undivided, bringing down the houses, so to speak?

Or, he is one of the warp-fuelled/living (demi)gods who are mentioned in (older?) lore about the warp? He has become maybe even a version of The Nightbringer or something. And I don't mean the actual Necron (C'tan) deity. But the older thing, for which the C'tan took its name.

Cos I always thought there were powers greater than those named, and the ones who took names, well, were shades of higher things. Names are so important that they trap you. And the warp has great secrets.

I did a bit of reading on wikipedia, 40k wiki and some forum. Mind you, it really was a little bit.

I can't really create an image of how I should imagine this 40k stuff though. It's basicly a tabletop game with "toys" ( I know that they are not just toys! Not sure how else to call them ;p ) and as you play, with others, you need to use your imagination like RP? And are there rules? Any board you use which is the world? And what about all the lore and the ongoing story? How does that fit in the games you play? While reading a bit of stuff and seeing you lot discuss stuff here I also gained a feeling as if this is so much more then a tabletop game?

I'm really confused about the concept of warhammer 40k, seems interesting though. Perhaps someone could explain it nice and simple?

Its because I am most disturbed by this turn of events that I am forced to use "..." over and over. But I doubt he is turned into demi-god or a part of Chaos, I think its just lore butchering.

I never stated he was any longer just one man. A body rotten encased in a tomb, maybe. But he's every screaming tortured soul lost to chaos, and every soul he's had consumed to stay alive himself.

He's a psychic vampire, feeding, really, on the misery and pain all that was, and is lost, from the Horus Heresy. Lost is any "good" he had planned. A psyche split in a hundred ways, just as his sons the Primarchs have split into their own little bands of brothers. Each "with the true knowledge".

There's no more an "empire of humanity". Just human slaves to this broken emperor.

No true, real, mankind. Just bodies, minds and souls condemned to the wars, war, and chaos.

How can it be Heresy, when it's the only (real) truth?
