Sitting being annoyed at my connection being horribad with torrents. Atleast it's going better than last week, took over a day to download the first episode.

Haven't watched #5 yet, but watching it in general, aye.
Re: The Song of Ice and Fire - George R.R. Martin
Watched the first four. Like it a lot, really. It isn't the books obviously. And there will always be things that "aren't right" because it's someone else's vision, not yours, on screen. But it's a damned fine interpretation. Some brilliant casting, and I want to see more (there's a second season recently announced).
Plus there are many boobs.

Gruff, the second season was announced the same day #1 aired.
And so far, I really like it. Not my vision. Not 100% the books (would be bad). But a great interpertation imo.

It was? I swear that it was in the paper the other day confirming that HBO would be filming due to the "critical success" of the first. Maybe they took the rights to two series but only confirmed recently...?

Re: The Song of Ice and Fire - George R.R. Martin
They got the rights to all of them quite some time ago. Benioff and Weiss have been in contact with GRRM since before production start. Before even the first talk with any network heads.
They got the rights to the full series of books as a series from the start. The reason GRRM agreed. (They didn't want just book 1, they wanted it all).
And Season two was confirmed the 19th of April, according to his own blog.
So, I was off by two days. *bows for forgivness*
Also, the last scen in episode #5 is win.

- Spoiler:
- For someone who has not read the books, whats the deal with the sister of lady stark and that boy sucking on her tit at his age?

- The deal is a thing that should start becoming obvious by next episode. Otherwise I'll give a name towards it.

Well, as long as it's not his mother's, I can't see an age to stop doing that, really. ;Dat his age
Re: The Song of Ice and Fire - George R.R. Martin
I've never really thought, but surely that's the Lanister clan (minus Tywin)...
*dances*
And episode 5 was great. Jerome Flynn as Bron? Brilliantly beyond my expectations, if you know who he is, you'd understand.

Re: The Song of Ice and Fire - George R.R. Martin
Read all 4 books, been waiting for number 5 since I started reading them in 07. Damn it ... my patience is running thin D:
Love the tv version of this.
I was afraid it might turn in to a disaster like Sword of truth/Legend of the seeker. That one almost made me cry in dissapointement.
So far, Sansa and Joffrey is the only ones I don't think fits to the descriptions from the books. Absolutely love Arya

Episode 6 was really nice. Only complaint I have is "Too little Jon Snow!"
Otherwise they are capturing the whole thing nicely still.

- Spoiler:
- I'm seriously sad that Viserys died, not that I can say I like him. Only that Harry Lloyd captured him in such a amazing way.
Thankfully we still have Joffrey who imo got a fantastic actor. Can't be easy portraying such a creep.

Re: The Song of Ice and Fire - George R.R. Martin
I've been thinking about watching this serie.
Question though: is it worth reading the books at all before/while/after watching the serie or does the serie stand well on it's own to skip them?

As I've read the books I don't know personally if it stands well on it own.
But from those I know that I've gotten to watch it, and what I hear. It should.
The books are better, but my advice would be, watch the show. Then after the first season read the books.
Maybe even go so far as don't read the book until watching that season. Just for the experience (I doubt you'll be able to keep to this).
The show follows the first book quite well, there are only some small points and one major (yet for a not that major character) things where they go away from each other.
All in all, it's a great show with fantastic looks. (+ Blood and naked)

Never read the books and the story makes perfect sense to me simply put.

Pretty much fantastic. Gets better, to be honest. And I have read the books, I don't think you'd lose anything by not "knowing" the story. Infact it may even be better.
You'd not be expecting all the boobs for one. Then again, there's more boobs on TV than in paper...
MORE BOOBS.

- Spoiler:
- As fr Sansa and Joffrey, I think they're perfect. Sansa for one, episode 6, there were a few looks, subtle things, she really is great. Because she believes in her Lion. Her utterly twatish cunt of a Joffrey. Who is perfect. Because that's exactly how he comes across, in book and TV. And THOSE EYEBROWS.
Anyway, this episode did have a lack of boob. But that's understandable. And Viserys' death and Tirion/Bronn's trial, though differing, both were spot on I think. If that makes sense.

Re: The Song of Ice and Fire - George R.R. Martin
Thing is, I usually don't enjoy fantasy books. (Ironic isn't, considering I played WoW.) So unless it's really something that grips me, I'll probably skip it.
Well it's an HBO serie. And HBO will always be HBO >.> When I watched true blood, I got pretty apathic to the matter when a breast was flashed to me every other episode.
