New Idea-need help

A party suggests an actual say in government. I feel that this may be too modern to be taken into the Warcraft universe. This is 18th Century Consitutional Monarchy thinking. Just my thoughts; seems a bit viva la revolution.

Party seems to be peoples problem, a few comments up Dreth makes a good name suggestion.

Commoners revolting against oppression is in all stages of history.

It's more like a political organization gathering people and being active in the streets than a political party competing with other parties in an election to have the majority in a parliament. I've named it "party" just because it sounded nice, but it could have been "front", "league" or whatever.

The whole thing with 'party', the word was only picked because SPP is a good sounding shortened version off the tongue.

To those saying this is not fitting with WoW's setting/lore, you might want to consider the Defias Brotherhood's back story, which had a very...peasant worker party uprising style of origin and is an accepted part of the game setting.

Ah you're right about the trade minister. DoL I don't know, are they all Knights? Geldar, no. He's not a knight. He's a military commander. There's a big difference there.

Knight is a military rank on the way to Commander. That's where the conclusion comes from. It's the LORE! *Judge Dreds* So there is a big difference, several pay grades.

And DoL Are all knighted once they reach a certain rank. Even JP is one.

Doesn't his title say Sir Geldar Angelos though? (or used to) or am I plain-confused? Not that it is important, since the SPP can just say "Council claims to represent the people, but we don't believe them! AVANTÉ! "

TBH this is off topic, the idea is a route for RP not to boot the council. Mostly I love the council! In the same way nifty loves Dreth

Commoners making a stand for rights? Wat Tyler and the Peasant's Revolt of 1381 anyone? It's not a specifically 18th Century thing at all. And I think it's a great idea for a "politicised version" of RP within Stormwind etc.

Edit: hell I would go further... some of the victorian Robin Hood/Ivanhoe idealised mythology of "merrie olde england" is very like this too. In a sense. And Monty Python "I'm being oppressed!".

That said, I have no problem at all with the concept of peasant made organisations. Gruff's example is a perfect one. I'd just caution not to use too many modern day words (like 'party' as Exa pointed out) and to try to keep it fit for an old-time setting (which, well, we all like WoW to seem, even with it's crazy mix of lore!).

With Party being the word people seem to dislike, how does using Stormwind Peoples Faction(SWPF) sound?

Wat Tyler was the one after the plague right? If it was it was interesting due to it was partly down to a supply/demand issue over man power. A third of the peasents died and the rest realised their value...Cata would have killed peasents.

An excellent idea, one that I have been backing for a long time. I can foresee this bringing about a great amount of RP, and a nice new vibe to be introduced to the streets. To be fair, I think there is more of a lore basis for such a front as this to exist, than the Council, but let's not commit pettifoggery and instead get this thing moving.

Dreth, my point exactly with Wat Tyler.

The Cataclysm will have killed scores of "lesser people". That will create a massive demand and pressure on the necessary things (food water etc etc). Who will stand up for those who still survive, struggling, working so hard... etc etc.

Scared people, afraid of what is happening (surely the earth still shakes, there's tales of the Aspect of Death (Earthchin, sorry) flying around and making people into popcorn, cultists preying on the weak willed and minded...

Perfect for someone to turn round and say "but... this is wrong... why..."

And then get killed, obviously.

Yeah i think it is well worth saying that the ultimately it is rp and the guild will never acheve its goals.

Would it be too far a streach to suggest medieval revolt from westfall and a french revolution style move in the city (both with soviet socialist side dish), that way there is both flavours and plenty of scope for inter revolution struggles!

Or is that too much to sort out?

I'm all for this idea, the original post did have me a little confused, but after reading the thread, it does look like something that could create a lot of roleplay, and decent roleplay at that!

And uh, all the talk of knights, lords and ladys can probably hault. The council does indeed have more than Julia stated. Even if coming from common backgrounds is correct.

Huzzah for more RP, and more political RP.

I really do wonder who then. Alas, more RP is always good. But I doubt it's going to clash much with the Council since I think the Council pretty much have the same ideals and wishes.
