I think there should at least be a vote, rather than just two admins deciding it. It's a lot of effort moving everything there just to make the site flashier (which not everyone even wants based on the above comments).

-The main idea is to redesign the forum in a large scale, self-host the forum and moving off forumotion which would increase flexibility in managing it not only in design, but better custom features that the old cannot support or do. Forumotion is stuck by the control panel and move no further; all the themes it offers are pretty basic.

-plan is to add more features to the forum + a few more moderators. I would only be doing the webmaster/designer job which is to maintain the forum updated, looking good and user friendly to incentivate more players to use it more often, because since I've joined Defias I've felt that there's a small obstruction in how news travel along the server, as people wouldn't know about some events and stuff like that.

-I've heard from many different players that they don't use the forum because they find it kind of hard to understand and reach; making it further user friendly would definitely help so much with it, and I was
hoping to add many features such as portal with a sidebar for events people can input

-I was also hoping to add more custumization for every account besides only a character sheet; a diary area perhaps even. I've even arranged extensions which allows you to input your character level/class/race
icons of such will appear next to your posting portrait; I also intend to add ranks for either posters or roles, a sidebar with the user of the month and other cosmetic features -- keeping it simple and minimal
but at the same time stacked with very nice and amazing features that people would certainly use!

-Another thing that I believe people have issues with on forums sometimes is the lazyness to check their email to activate their account which we could deactivate for the first months of the new forum, and share it further around.

-Adding a portal with features which Forumotion does not support to make it somewhat similar to the Argent Archives which would increase it's use even further. One thing I've learned since I've started using forums for the very first time in 2007 for roleplaying: there's always lurkers.

-People who don't register at all but they check it because the information they look for is right in their nose as soon as they open the page; and there's a lot of reasons why these lurkers would sooner or later join the forum, to make posts, answer posts, and share their own events, which is why the user friendly interfaces would come in hand very easily; besides I though we could use a little space for useful links. I've created a link called RP Guides which directly links to WoWWiki guides on roleplay (or we could our own based on the RPPvP communities beliefs and traditions and integrate things to educate roleplayers about events such as the Pilgrimage that Maelmoor has been doing for a few years as I've hear)!

-Worth a try in my opinion to advance with making a new one -- the transition would not be instant obviously, but with little time it would sure gain popularity, specially if the old forum redirects to the new one!
