[IC] The Gilneas Platoon, Captain's log.
((Since the 15th of November, this log can be found on a table in the War Room of Stormwind's Keep - usually not unguarded. It bears a Gilnean seal, and the handwritings and inks used differ per section. Upon closer inspection you could notice the majority of entries has been written in the distrinct handwriting sometimes signed with "Taph".))
Attached documents
((An official looking letter has been stapled to the log on the 20th of November. It appears to be a message from the Gilnean General, bearing a Gilneas seal and a number of signatures at the bottom. The following parts have been highlighted thinly with pencil: ))
"The unit is tasked with the following."
"Introduce the unit to the officials of Stormwind, and refer to the letter previously sent to the Minister of Defense. Also announce the presence and function of this Platoon during the weekly so-called Council Meeting. Ask any of the locals for the exact whereabouts and time."
"Visit the local guards' headquarters with a delegation and formally explain the mission, requesting their official acceptance of our aid."
"When properly established, start cooperation with local guard organisations. Join their patrols and trainings. Get on friendly terms with the officers and try to establish relations of mutual trust."
"When the situation in Stormwind City is secured, branch out to assist those in the field. Specifically contact the 157th Company and their allies to assist in the war against the Iron Horde."
- Details of our people:

- progress with the local military:
- The Blazing Shields:
17th of November. Katy and I went to introduce ourselves to the Blazing Shields guard faction. We were welcomed warmly and they seem capable enough. Private Grim Darknight is in charge of holding the fort while the higher ranked officers are out at the frontlines. His comrade, Private First Class Derrick Turner, took me on a tour of the city. Places to keep an eye on include the alleys in Old Town, the Graveyard, and the area behind the Cathedral.
19th of November. We have also met a field nurse of the Blazing Shields, a lovely young lady named Sally Brayford. She seemed to go along quite well with us, especially Dwayde. The topic of relationships amongst members of the guard came up in conversation.
22nd of November. We saw Derrick again, and as you advised, I emphasised on how pleased we are to be allied with the Shields. Derrick insisted we call him by the first name, and sat down for a drink with us. I have good hopes for cooperation with this man's unit. -Taph
26th of November. While out in the woods we came across a Garrison owned by the Blazing Shields. A kind officer named Tina Arena hosted us warmly with a meal and a bed, and updated us on the news from Draenor.

- The Stormwind Regiment:
22nd of November. After Dwayde and I returned to Stormwind with the recovered supplies, an agreeable Regiment member made her aquaintance with us. Her name is Phoebe Coldar and she is exceptionally warm and welcoming. The girl, who is in charge of the place, gave us a tour of their Command Center. We are invited to share these headquarters with them until the missing majority of Regiments return from the Blasted Lands.

- Disciples of Light:
7th of December. Today we were finally introduced to a Disciple of Light: sir High Chaplain Beladon Indarys. He promptly offered us the assistance of his organisation, especially for situations where we need proper authority.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- The Royal Army:
20th of November. Today we formally met two members of the Royal Army, sir Grand Marshal Ariont Dalton and sir Field Marshal Aindor Lightfeather. The pair mentioned to be looking to boost their numbers so they can perform a coordinated strike in the Blasted Lands, so I proposed we ally and work together.
21nd of November. The Royal Guard joined us on our mission to retrieve the lost shipment. They are both very capable fighters, delivering an impressive performance. -Taph

- The 157th Company:
Unfortunately we have still not been able to establish any contact.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- The Second Swords:
I'm on the fence about these honorable mercenaries, Artemis. Their temporary leaders, Aklana and Higson, have proven most helpful so far in eliminating threats. I think the Swords are capable and dependable on an individual level, yet their organisation is, after all, one whose loyalty can be bought. I'd prefer we work together with the local guards and seek out the Swords when we need more manpower. -Taph
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- Non-military acquaintances:
Wrylas: This dependable Elf assisted us well in the investigation of the explosion on the 18th. He appears to be a patron of the Pig and Whistle tavern, which is shaping up to become the informal place to unwind for our Platoon members. Wrylas has proven to be an invaluable ally and friend to the Platoon.
Lennu: Another Elf patron of the Pig, this man bravely helped us deal with the escaping convicts. He recently returned from an odyssey to the Exodar, in the Draenei lands.
Alexander Kirstein: I'm aware some Platooners weren't on the friendliest of terms with this High Elven mage, but this fate I would not wish upon my worst foe. We must investigate his sinister death and find the sick mind who's responsible.
Robin Drake: A resourceful citizen who seems to have his heart in the right place. He has offered us his assistance in our daily affairs, and can usually be found at the Blue Recluse. He appears to be in some kind of business agreement with Eagle Lockson.
Eagle Lockson: A powerful and potentially dangerous man. He's got several enterprises going, and has friends in high places. His associates include Hex and Pazzle.

- Activity journal and event reviews:
- Hig's Job:
16th of November. A man named Higson Veilwood came up to us, and upon noticing we support the guard, mentioned a "job". Hig appears to be some kind of official, but I did not get the opportunity to ask if he's affiliated to any of the local guard organisations. He was vague about the details of the job, yet if we are interested, we are to meet him on Saturday at the Shady Lady at half an hour past eight bells in the evening. -Taph. Update: We didn't make it in time, and when we arrived no one was there.
- Situation at the Stockades:
18th of November. A visit to the Pig and Whistle was disturbed by an explosion from the center of the city. Together with some of the locals who were with us at the time, we moved in to investigate. Soon we discovered damage to the Stockades prison - the convicts of at least one cell were missing . A number of the remaining prisoners saw this as an opportunity to escape, and unfortunately we had to put them down.
We still do not have any suspects as to who triggered the original explosion, yet it appears like the source of the blast was located inside the cell itself. This raises some questions concerning the security of the prison. We must speak with the local guards first if we wish to conduct further investigation.

- Missing Supplies:
19th of November. A supply delivery was ordered from Lakeshire to Stormwind. It consisted of ten crates of building materials and weaponry, as well as four horses.
Update on 21nd of November: Two horses were found dead. The other one had bled to death while the other one was severely stabbed and then eaten raw. Six of the thugs were killed and six of the crates were burned, leaving four crates and two horses alive. We asked for the horses and/or thugs by the Tower of Azora, and we were led to the Logging Camp, in which we found the remaining two horses and four crates, as well as several knocked up thugs. We were told we'd have the rest of the supplies for free, with no additional fee, making the mission successful. -Artemis

- Hostile Death Knight:
In the week of the 22nd through 27th of November, a Death Knight has been wreaking havoc in Stormwind, injuring citizens and even a few guards. After a stand-down with four heavily armed Platooners, he cackled "This is not over!" and disappeared.
Thank the Light for we have not heard of him since.

- Bandits near Kharanos:
28th of November. The Second Swords, led by Aklana and Higson, requested our help in uprooting a bandit holdout. They were camped in the Dwarven lands of Dun Morogh and had been raiding travelling merchants boldly.
Wrylas joined our expedition and together we succesfully dealt with them. I doubt they will dare point a finger at a salesman again anytime soon. We worked nicely as a team, especially you and I Captain. Remind me to inquire whether Wrylas is interested in enlisting with us.

- Visit to Gilneas:
29th of November. Time to visit the ol' homestead! These were a VERY eventful two days. Upon arrival we split up into a few groups, as some wished to go see old friends. I think the highlight was that we encountered that woman clad in Scarlet attire, raiding the abandoned church.
Artemis, again; I am glad everybody came out of there alive. You did a good thing by eventually granting her mercy, despite your initial actions. Of course I regret my own decisions from that night. We should talk about this further when everybody has calmed down, including Evan.

- Who killed Alex?!:
30th of November. At night, a severely mutilated corpse was found hanging by a tree behind the Cathedral of Stormwind. The body could be identified as that of a certain Alexander Kirstein. Various Cuts had been placed on the victim's face and his eyes had been pushed in. What sick being would commit such an atrocious act?!
10th of December. Our efforts to find his mysterious murderer have proven fruitless so far. May Alexander rest in peace.
- To Darnassus with Evan:
1st of December, early in the evening. Evan agreed to come to Darnassus with me to seek the Kaldorei cure for his Curse. Fortunately we were just in time; a few hours later and it might have been too late to avert a feral phase.
He seems to be coping well with the effects, being freed from some of his timidity. He still spends most of his time in his original form though, which was to be expected.

- Trouble at the Graveyard:
1st of December, evening. We ran into a gathering of people near the graveyard, behind the Cathedral. I'm not quite sure how it started, but it almost got to a scuffle. The crowd included a number of our people, Robin Drake and his employees, a man referred to as Hex, a Gnome engineer lady named Spriggi who expressed interest in assisting the Platoon, and a wildling forest girl who called herself Charlie.
I believe some of Eagle Lockson's employees showed up as well, but I took our men with me, tactically retreating before things got heated.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- Our First Drill:
2nd of December. I think they did rather well, especially those without prior military experience! This just goes to prove my expectations that discipline can be picked up as long as the enlisted are willing to pay attention and obey orders. Military form and practice will follow.
I could tell they thought you were giving them a pointless chore when you issued the flower and stone gathering. Just wait until tomorrow to see the look on their faces.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- Stones & Silverleafs:
3rd of December. I am quite pleased with today's results, Artemis. It was rewarding to see some of our comrades 'click' when I told them the purpose of last night's assignments. I think we really showed them a valuable lesson.
Cooperation was splendid during the process of mortar creation. I put Spriggi in charge and she took it up nicely with some encouragement from our side. The monument turned out well, a physical reminder that in hard times it is vital to keep your allies close.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- A Second Sword slain:
3th of December. Grave news: Aklani of the Second Swords has been murdered in the streets last night. It is good that you paid your respects at her grave, Artemis. Again, my apologies that Liathai and myself interrupted your mourning. I know you were close with her. Take heart, for we will find her killer and bring him to justice.
Update on the 5th of December: We have two suspects who fit the description. The main suspect is a Death Knight, currently awaiting punishment. He is in the cells of the Stormwind Regiment right now, with thanks to Captain Phoebe Coldar. Our secondary suspect, a man named Alasdaire Giles, seems to be in the same business as Eagle Lockson. He is also known as Alice. We do not pursue Alasdaire anymore, as our Death Knight has confessed.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- To Darnassus with Liathai:
3rd of December. Time is of the essence. The Gnome, Spriggi, has betrayed our trust by blatantly conducting a freakish experiment on one of our own Platooners. Her concoction "Gnorken" was designed to discover whether a human can be given the Worgen Curse by indirect serving-up of organic material.
Please make sure every living soul in our city is warned to decline any meal or brew Spriggi might offer them. We'll deal with her as soon as we can. Meanwhile I am taking Liathai to the Kaldorei in Darnassus. Hopefully they will be as willing to help as they were with Evan.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- Blood Moon:
4th of December. Thankfully we were able to avert Liathai's feral phase. But the Curse is heavy on her, since she is sensitive. I took her out to a remote area and we hunted some game, or rather she gorged while I taught her how to control herself. It was a long night and I am exhausted, but content.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- Battle Royale:
5th of December. You did fantastic Artemis! Every comrade I spoke, was generally pleased with the Tournament initiative. I look forward to seeing the finale. Do you have a suitable location in mind that could serve as an arena of sorts?
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- I am so pissed right now Mr. Soren.:
6th of December. What do you mean I "never mentioned" yesterday's interrogation of Alasdaire? I might have forgotten to tell you in person, Captain, but I wrote a report and even then, I won't have you ranting at me like that and getting physical. I am awaiting your apology. -Captain Gibson
Update on the 8th of December. I regret the words I wrote here on Saturday - I was angry when I jolted it down. Artemis, I want to offer my apologies for getting so worked up about it all. Especially after the events during our visit to Gilneas, I should have known better than to cross an angry Captain.
- The Memorial Service:
7th of December. We're reaping the first actual rewards of our contact with the Minister of Defence, sir Helmut Spoon. I were already expecting a few speeches tonight, but Wrylas and Helmut both left me impressed with their words. In retrospect we could have included the monument our unit constructed near the lake, but I still think we picked the perfect location in the gazebo.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- The Many Shades of a Lady:
7th of December. This was such a long night that I have trouble getting my record sorted. After the Memorial Service ended, I went down to the Blue Recluse as announced. I was about to sit down with some of that fine wine Eagle Lockson so kindly donated, when Liathai stormed in and rallied all Platooners present to come up to the Shady Lady on your urgent orders.
Well, you know the rest. It was a bloody mess and I am still trying to figure out the roles Eagle, Hex and Robin played in all of this.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- A Light to Remember:
7th of December. Things had calmed down at the Lady and I was heading back up to the Keep, when we found a dazed and injured woman on the streets. Her name is Lynne and she claimed she had been poisoned. Liathai and (I think) Ferrius patched her up, using Ferrius' somewhat rusty medical skills from his time in Kul Tiras. I will not entrust the details of her report to this log, but I am certain you will want to hear it as soon as possible.
- Councils, comrades and consequences:
8th of December. How is it possible for a Kingdom to look so noble and fair on your mission briefing, and then turn out to be such a political quagmire once you're inside the gates? I am disappointed but not surprised at our unit's reaction to the news of the temporary council. I was already expecting that Ferrius would resist on grounds of honour and integrity, and that Liathai would see the bigger picture quickly.
They are both right. I agree it is rather questionable for the city guard, foreign or not, to publicly enter negotiations with these dicey future councilmen. On the other hand - what if they are really going to impose it on the city? I would prefer having a seat on that table over being on the receiving end of any decisions the new council might make.
- Salvation:
9th of December. Thank the Light for the news we received today. I feel so incredibly relieved! Let us receive our returning saviours with cheers and tributes. This also means that hopefully on Tuesday, the old council will have been restored, saving us from having to execute that painful quandary about the formation of a new council.
Regarding tonight's celebrations, I think it was splendid to see Liathai open up her playful side, and Vosler get more emotionally involved in the group.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- Fragile trust:
10th of December. I went over to the Shady Lady to talk to Robin. The tactical strategy I have laid out is a diplomatic one. I mentioned that the old council will be restored, and said I was grateful that Robin would have vouched to get me into the new one, had it been formed. Liathai showed up after having followed my tracks, apparently worried. She stressed the fact that I should not be out on the streets alone at night, lest I end up like Lana...
