Ashal Anore - For Our People

Background (paraphrased, with permission, from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] )
In the wake of the Siege, despite King Varian's decision to allow the Horde to get back on their feet, the possibility exists that not all of the Alliance agrees with their King. Indeed, most factions still hate the Horde, and move to capitalize on their moment of weakness to wipe them from the face of Azeroth. With Orgrimmar, the heart of the Horde, only now clawing its way back to normality, who would stand to defend the Horde territories in the Eastern Kingdoms were they to come under attack?

Both Lordaeron and Quel'thalas have ever been close, geographically, and hold the shared tragedy of falling at the hands of Prince Arthas. Two nations, united by grief, allies in a world brimming with enemies, it is the bond between Sin’dorei and Forsaken that will defend the Horde’s Eastern Front.

Presently the Sin’dorei are a metaphoric island in a sea ruled by the Alliance. The Forsaken and the Sin'dorei, along with any allies who would choose to aid them, must stand together to protect their precious homelands.

Note: At this point I'd like to point out that this is a Sin'dorei only guild, and will not accept Forsaken.

RPing a Sin'dorei (with extrapolations)

Below are displayed some traits the Blood Elves have in excess, along with why they have these attributes. Whilst obviously I don't have the right to tell you how to RP, it is worth bearing in mind that the Sin'dorei are not merely Humans with pointy ears.
(Section below taken from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Power Hungry
Blood elves adore the idea of power, some moreso than others. Buf if there’s anything they all seem to have in common, it’s that Quel’Thalas will once again rise as a powerful nation.

There’s also a sense of craving for more – that what they have (be it political swing, financial standing, a drug…) is never quite enough. There is always more to be gained. Always. To be content with your lot in life constitutes laziness and lack of drive. You’ll end up outside, begging for money like Jero’me the artist!

You [SOMETHING] the Light!
This one used to be a little simpler. Before the end of TBC, it was fairly straight forward to say “you hate the light” and it would be accurate for most characters. Now, that’s not necessarily true. It seems, more than ever, blood elves are swinging towards being light-worshipers again. So what now for your characters? Well, take it realistically with how they would react. The turn to the Light again has been sudden. Is your character an elf who has always secretly wanted to back back to Light-worship and is relieved? Or are they bitter and struggling and refusing to accept this new doctrine, after years of scorning that which you had once blamed for not helping you? You could simply be on the fence, or even always have revered the Light, despite what other have said!

You hate the Alliance!
And I mean the ‘old Alliance’ more than the current one, here. Sure, you hate night elves and sort of draenei too. But you really, really hate humans. They left you for dead when the Scourge came, and then when they realised you hadn’t all been finished off, they dragged you to fight their wars for them, and sent you off against impossible odds. Then they decided to imprison your royalty and try and execute him. You’re not going to have a high opinion of these chaps.

STOP! I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING!

There are two sides to every story, this is true. All your meta-knowledge tells you that this is a one-sided account of events. But it’s exactly that – meta-knowledge. Too often I see people not taking into account that there is bias in the world. That their characters don’t have access to WCIII, or WoWwiki and don’t know or understand how events truly played out. For your average blood elf, the story I just recalled will likely be how they know things. Heavily biased, with a lot of anti-alliance propaganda to boot.

Magic is cool, yo.
Blood elves are perhaps the most magically-attuned race on Azeroth. Even more so than their high elven brethren, because blood elves have dared to delve into the darker arts. It is integral to society. Even those who seem like they don’t know any magic (rogues, hunters and in Cataclysm, warriors) know rudimentary magic. What is this? I don’t know, make it up! Say you light a candle with a small spark from your fingers or something. The fact is, your blood flef will have been raised to believe that a magical understanding is the be-all-and-end-all of power in the world. Those who literally have no understanding of this tend to be looked down upon.

Arrogance
One of the biggest troubles I see with blood elf personality is that people take arrogance too far. Blood elves are arrogant beings, that’s not an issue. The problem comes when this arrogance isn’t tempered realistically in RP. As with all things, there is a time and a place and a way in which to be sensible about it.

Most elves will not be rude and look down their noses at every horde race they meet. They may well think little off them, but certainly now after having fought alongside them for a while, it would be silly to openly slander them. This doesn’t detract from an arrogant stance. Rather, it adds to it a layer of aloofness – the idea that your elf is in control of themselves, and that they have no real need to remind the other races they’re inferior. They simply are.

Sin'Dorei School

For those new to Blood Elf RP,  or RP in general,  we will offer lessons in background lore, both Blizzards and our own server lore, as well as rekindling the popular Lectures of Flame, a series of talks on the nature, methods and effects of magic, and the history of Azeroth, its flora and fauna.

Ranks

Note: It is important that you understand that naturally, there are not the mechanics in place to have every organisations ranks, and these ranks are broad groupings, mostly to help us identify how healthy each faction is looking etc. Within each rank are many IC ranks. For example, Blood Knights are further divided IC as Initiate, Adept, Knight, Master and Champion, along with others.

Note 2: For reasons of lore, some ranks will be class restricted:
Farstrider: Hunter, Rogue, Warrior
Magisterial: Mage, Warlock, Priest
Blood Knight: Paladin (Mages and Priests on a case-by-case basis)

Note 3: If your character has sufficient backstory and/or you have been RPing say a Blood Knight Master for some time, it is possible for new members, upon joining, to be promoted straight away.

Adventurer – Upon joining, you’ll receive the rank of Adventurer, meaning you do not belong to any faction within the kingdom. Essentially a civilian looking to achieve something.

Civilian – Whilst we appreciate that the world is largely populated by heroes, there are some who may wish to inhabit Quel’thalas as a merchant, innkeeper or simple worker, to add a little more immersion to our lives. This is a rank especially catered for you. It is advised that everyone has at least one civilian handy in case of sacrificial cultist activity, virulent disease or other calamity, so instead of ‘random man #114 has been murdered’ we can have some backstory. That’s not to say that we’ll start taking people out randomly, either.

Guardian – Guardians act as the primary praetorians of Silvermoon, patrolling its streets and protecting its citizens.

Farstrider – Member of the Farstriders, the protectors of Quel’thalas’ forests and borders, you will spend most of your time using fearful guerrilla tactics within the wooded glades of Eversong.

Magisterial – The magical elite of Quel’thalas, this rank will include any clerics and followers of the Light (Blood Knight affiliated clerics excluded), as well as incorporating any Scryers and Sunreavers.

Blood Knight – The Blood Knight Order is well established as the preeminent fighting force of Quel’thalas, and is predominantly made of Paladins. However, there are priests, and even magi who are intrinsically linked with the Order, and as such will hold this rank.

Reliquary – The Reliquary is a relatively new organisation in Quel’thalas, and it counts Magisters, Blood Knights and others among it’s ranks.

Official – Councillors, magistrates, judges, ambassadors etc. are accorded the rank of official, as well as those who serve in other administrative positions.

Elder – A union of Officers and Guild Master, responsible for guild leadership. It is a largely OOC rank that doesn’t reflect a persons IC role within the Kingdom, although most will have official positions.

Uniforms and emblems

While there are no set uniforms for most of the factions, we do ask that a broad colour scheme be obeyed to reflect your faction.

Blood Knights: Black and red, plate if possible
Farstriders: Natural greens and browns
The Guards *will* have a uniform, we are still working on it.
Magisters, Reliquary members, Official and Civilians may wear what they wish, though do try to make it look Sin’dorei.

Guild Tabards are not compulsory, and guild banners aren’t to be used at every opportunity. At official Gatherings and the like, however, do feel free to plant one behind our group. Silvermoon and Sunreaver banners likewise, if appropriate.

Bases, and theatres of operation in Quel’thalas and Silvermoon

Blood Knights
- Hold jurisdiction over the Hall of Blood, off Farstrider Square

Reliquary
- Have their base in the Royal Exchange. The Reliquary are also in authority in the ruined half of Silvermoon, still searching for magical artefacts on home turf, as it were.

Farstriders
- Farstriders have access to the Retreat and Enclave (Eversong and Ghostlands, respectively) along with a Lodge off the aptly named Farstrider Square.

Magisters
- The Magisters are based in the libraries of Sunfury Spire, as well as the Sanctum on Murder Row. The Magisters also have jurisdiction over the Sancta of Eversong and the Ghostlands, and the Terrace on Quel’danas.

Guardians
- The Guardians of Silvermoon make the streets their workplace, but their armoury and office of the Justicar is located in the Hall of Respite at the south end of the Royal Exchange.

Other
- The training grounds in Farstrider Square are open to all for exercise and instruction in the many forms of combat taught by the Sin’dorei.
- Sun’s Reach, on Quel’danas, serves as an elite training ground for those who champion their Order. Magisters, Farstriders and Blood Knights patrol the village, prepared to spar with any who step into their arena. In order to further learn how to combat the insidious demons of the Legion, the shadowmancers of Silvermoon have summoned a veritable horde of nether spawn for the Sin’dorei to practise on.

Regular Events

Weekly:
Monday: Meeting of the Council – All may attend to observe, but must remain silent unless allowed by one of the sitting Councillors.
Tuesday: Silvermoon City Inn - The inn is open whenever it is staffed. However, Tuesday evenings are guarenteed opening for those who wish to ahve a drink and a chat.
Thursday: Military training - Farstrider Square will be staffed by instructors in all manner of warfare, ready to train civilian and soldier alike.

Monthly:
1st Sunday: Traders Fair - Traders from all over the kingdom converge on the Bazaar to sell their wares to the citizenry of Silvermoon.
3rd Sunday: Lecture of Flame - A series of talks on the nature, methods and effects of magic, and the history of Azeroth, its flora and fauna.

Less regular events:
The Horde Gathering - A quarterly meeting of the various orders and factions that comprise the Horde to discuss military tactics, trade and inter-city justice matters. Hosted by a different group each time.

Rules

1. Keep IC stuff IC, and OOC stuff OOC, there’s nothing worse than a bit of quality hateful RP that the participants let ruin their friendship. Similarly, letting an argument outside the narrative spill over to make your characters hate each other ruins RP for the rest of us.  Stop it.
2. Thalassian is the primary language of Quel’thalas, please use it predominantly, switch to Orcish at your discretion.
3. Do not power RP at all. You're not the demonspawn offspring of Arthas and Alexstrasza. Also under this rule, do not RP that you have authority over anyone outside the guild, unless they’re up for it. Some of the best RP I've seen has been someone lording it over others. Just make sure all parties are compliant. This is very much a give and take rule. A Farstrider Captain, for instance, will have authority over normal members of the Order, etc. Just use your common sense.
4. Have fun. Yes, it’s a rule. If you feel your character is stagnating, and logging in feels like a chore, think about taking a break.

What we offer

Ashal Anore stays true to the nature of the realm as an RP-PVP realm. So we want to contribute to all aspects of the game, such as RP as well as PVP & PVE contents. This means we offer you a unique experience which will remain loyal to the rules of RP’ing.

Recruitment

As stated above, we will take all Sin'dorei regardless of level and class. However, bear in mind that in Quel'thalas, some classes will have more political swing than others.

So, how to join:
Now we have over 100 members (!!!) our recruitment policy has changed, to allow us to vet applicants a bit better.

How to apply:
Firstly, register on our website at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Enter the application forum, and fill out the form, indicating your name, class, and level.
Tell us about your experience at roleplaying
Finally, write a short story or character introduction.

[H] Ashal Anore (Sin'dorei) Empty Re: [H] Ashal Anore (Sin'dorei)

Post by Dolerien Sun Aug 03, 2014 7:27 pm

Most recent adventure:

Several weeks ago, Silvermoon's standing force of Blood Knights rode south out of the Thalassian Pass, and mysteriously vanished. A mixed force, led by Councilor Lord Magister Abulos Sunwing, has been sent into the Plaguelands to find out what happened to them.

21/8/14 - The expedition rides south into the Plaguelands, making for Tyr's Hand to make camp. Acting on information received, they intend to travel through Northdale en route, to search the village for any sign of the missing Knights.
Exiting the Thalassian Pass, several scourge siege engineers attacked the group with meatwagons. The elves repelled the attack, and made their way on foot to Northdale.
After clearing the village of encroaching banshees, the elves were shocked to discover the corpse of one of the Blood Knights hanging at the gallows. After cutting him down and burning the body, the village was searched, and an encoded journal found.
When approaching Browman Mill, the elves further discovered a ghoul clumsily wielding a sword of Sin'dorei origin. The ghoul was felled, and the sword reclaimed.
The expedition made their way to Light's Hope Chapel, and after a brief respite, carried on to Tyr's Hand without further incident.

24/8/14 - The expedition ventures into the ruins of the Scarlet Enclave. After finding two more dead Blood Knights (this time impaled on spikes flanking the road), the elves found an active plague cauldron in the northern fields. Dispatching three cultists while one ran further north, the elves were dismayed as they were attacked from behind by several ghouls who had been secreted in the crypt nearby.
After dealing with this new threat, the group headed north as well, after the escaped cultist, and found a hastily abandoned encampment on the ridge, surrounded by Scourge banners.
Investigating the camp, the group found letters detailing the instalation of the plague cauldron, a warning of approaching Blood Knights, and congratulations at the camp successful besting of the encroaching Knights, ordering the survivors to be brought to the Fungal Vale for 'Ascension'.
Making their way back towards Tyr's Hand, the elves spotted a shadowy figure lurking in the nearby mine, and gave chase through the tunnels, finding not another cultist, but a surviving Blood Knight, who had escaped the cultist's camp as it was abandoned.
He was brought back to Tyr's Hand for rest, recuperation, and questioning.

26/8/14 - The expedition is led to the Fungal Vale on information received from the Argent Dawn. Upon arrival, several cultists had gathered, expecting the Elves. The cultists revealed their latest creation, two Sin'dorei Death Knights, who proceeded to attack the expedition with no sign of recognising their kin.
Magic seemed ineffectual against the Knights Saronite plate armour, which absorbed almost all their magical attacks. Thinking quickly, the elves targetted the Knights where their armour was weakest, and soon felled both Knights, and the remaining cultists.
Following one retreating cultist into one of the ziggurats in the Vale, the Elves were shocked as they discovered that this was the place that had produced the Death Knights, with the capacity to make many more. The lone cultist pleaded for his life to his unseen master, who abandoned him to his fate. Rather than be dispatched by the vengeful elves, or taken for questioning, the cultist chose suicide.
Following a search of the body, two keys were found, one of which unlocked the chains to the plague cauldron in the centre of the Vale. While two chains were unlocked without further incident, the cauldrons vile contents were sprayed onto Thelesion Sundancer, who began speaking in a dark tongue, about how foolish the Elves quest was. Entirely controlled by the strange entity, the elf attacked his comrades, who quickly confined him.
It was several minutes before Sundancer returned to his normal state of mind, though he was severely weakened. Lord Sunwing suggested that, since Hearthglen was close by, they reconvene there. As the centre of the Argent's operations, they would have the necessary knowledge to heal Sundancer of the debilitating effects of the cauldrons contents.
The expedition has moved to Hearthglen, where Lord Fordring has graciously allowed them to stay.

31/8/14 - On information received from the Argent Crusade, the group moved into the eastern forests of the western plaguelands. There, amidst the trees, they discovered a hastily constructed camp, in the centre of which was a Quel'dorei of sinister aura. After dispatching the necromancer, the group put chase to the remaining cultists, and followed them north, and into a cave on the Thondroril River. Hacking their way through a series of tunnels, the elves were dismayed that their prey had escape through a short range portal that was rapidly vanishing. They did, however, find another two dead Blood Knights in a sophisticated laboratory set up in the cave system. It was concluded that, due to the laboratory, and the previous cases of plague cauldrons and death knight conversion, that the only place the equipment could have reasonabley come from is Caer Darrow. Now known by its much darker name, the Scholomance.

7/9/14 - After a series of setbacks, the elven force united with the Argent Crusade and marched on Caer Darrow. Arriving, Commander Reginald Blackwood explained that in order to assault the Scholomance proper, the enchantment upon the keep, which caused any who got near to the gateway down to the Barov catacombs to quickly wither and die, would need to be broken. Having already pinpointed two locations that were saturated with magical energy, the elves split up and destroyed the bone charms that sustained the enchantment.
The Argent forces streamed into the catacombs and began to scoure them of the filth that had infested them, while the elves were to clear the rest of the keep. In the main garrison, however, they were shocked to find almost three dozen mismatched sets of Blood Knight armour and acroutrements. It was then that the horrific truth was revealed.
Commander Blackwood, revealing himself as the necromancer who had orchestrated the revitalisation of the Scholomance, lured the Blood Knights to the island in small groups, where they had been slaughtered, and risen as Death Knights in service to the remnants of the Scourge and Cult of the Damned. Even now, they were headed to Northrend to reclaim it for the Damned.
After a gruelling fight, Blackwood was defeated, and the Scholomance cleansed once more.
Lords Sunwing and Fordring discussed the ramifications of the elves uncovering a traitor in the ranks of the Crusade, before the Highlord granted those who had been guests of the Crusade the freedom of Hearthglen, and should they ever want it, a position in the Crusade.

This sounds really great. Sorry, I'm a well-wisher, and I'll well-wish all I want!

I've never been a fan of Blood Elves. Blood Elf RP has long been dominated by the negative stereotype that ruins things for everyone, but occasionally a guild like this turns up and makes things very, very interesting. You may well find me making an alt for you...

Is it Blood Elf only or did I misunderstand that you'll accept Forsaken as well?

Census updated.

Must say, we're growing faster than I imagined. Can only be good Very Happy

Still looking for Reliquary representatives and Guardians. These don't have to be full time characters, I imagine anyone from the Reliquary is away on excavations most of the time. SO MAKE AN ALT! NOW!

I am interested in joining. However I just made a new toon as a priest and I will need some help with the Belf lore. I am an experienced RP-er, but new-ish to horde/belf lore. I know the basics ( Scourge attack, Kaelthas being a d*ck, relationship between humans and elves.)

I am gonna have a harder time adepting to light + Belf = priest.

Thats alright, we'll help you along. Smile

Did you make the new toon purely for Ashal Anore? If so, nice to know we're being noticed on the other side of the fence, as it were. If not, tell your friends. Razz

I am slowly switching over to Horde toons more. Got a Horde main in the Red Blades and I want to expand into horde. Not sure to make me fully go horde. But yeah I'm rolling a bunch of toons and one of them is a Belf. Priest is a class I haven't really explored yet.

I noticed you lot on this forum that's why I decided to give it a shot.
