When Guards go too far.
Moments ago, my sailor character was arrested and thrown down a flight of stairs.
How did this occur?
He was at a crime scene at the wrong time. Quite simply, someone was shot and wounded on the docks, near the Drunken Hozen ship. Dom was awoken by the ruckus, left the cabin, and was arrested by the guards immediately, even when the victim told the guards, specifically, dom wasn't around when the attack happened.
Fast forward to the arrival at the CC.
Ralegh says, the next person to speak, would be thrown down the stairs. When I point out, Icly, thats assault, I was thrown down said stairs, arrested, and cuffed in the cells.
Now, I can't complain to the guards, even though I tried ICly, since he's there captain. When do we draw the limit?

Just whisper them, there's no need to talk about it in the forums. Ralegh/Ezlbag has been a criminal for years, he experienced "police brutality" IC countless times before and therefore he'll surely listen to your complaints. He probably didn't know you were innocent, since everyone claims to be so when he gets dragged to the CC

I second that, yeah; Regiment is quite fair on an OOC level and will work with you if you give them a whisper. Ralegh's a solid dood, when he's not peeing on prisoners.

Matters like these should not be places on the forums. People need to look from the vharacters point of view. Crimescene and guards see someone there. Ofcourse they are going to take you in. And then the captain, who everyone know is'nt the fairest of of people, throws down anyone who talks, as he promised.
Listen, do we want guards who, universally knows who is good or bad and always does the right thing or do we want guards who, some of them make misstakes, are assholes and corrupted? I, for one, go for the last as it creates funnier and more interesting RP.

Re: When Guards go too far.
Best thing to do is contact me in whispers.
I am actually reasonable even if my character at times is not.
And my IC opinion normally changes quite quickly to accomodate rpers we jail/punish and so forth so that they don't end up feeling stuff is wrecked for them as far as future or current rp goes.
Issue is just that I am sadly not psychic and can't know that you were against the events on a ooc level without actually being contacted.
*Edit: As for IC complaints, I would suggests either sending a formal letter or potentially telling the council... or incite a crowd with your tales of guard-injustice (from personal experience the third is the most fun)

And tbh, that was all IC... If you take role-play to heart on an OOC level, you're going to have a bad time.

You can always complain IC to the council ;D There is always IC solutions!
Re: When Guards go too far.
This is somewhat unrelated.... But holy shit I laughed when you were tossed down those stairs.
Re: When Guards go too far.
As most have said Guards are not CSI, not psyhic and can be corupt even! But people are understanding OOCly. Though of course probably your char will have to complain against the guards who took him in if they didn't listen to the victim.
Ralegh icly doesn't like talkback your char just learned it the hard way. No one ever seems to learn that (Not even the privates themselves).

Fight fire with fire:
Isolate a guard patrol (remember to bring an anti-/yell-mage), and throw them down every stair from Cath to the harbor, tie them up on a small raft, send it out into the open water while your isolation-mage sets it on fire.

...am I a bad person for finding that fucking hilarious?
But, yeah, this really should've been talked out/settled ooc if you felt significantly hard done by, not posted on a bloody forum.

Already know a spell to stop people from shouting, its called Silence.
Re: When Guards go too far.
I find this a bit silly thing to do you could of settled it on whispers with the person in question instead of pointing fingers in a forum. The guards has to act sometimes acording to clues amd situation. And also if thats going to far.... in a fantasy sort of feudal set in a world people has only known conflict...
Well.
Well.

Everyone who is not a guard is a citizen, and therefore worthless scum.
