Re: The Temple of Elune
I'm a bit confused over what the thread actually is about. At one hand, DK RPers seems to comment that it's alright for them to be shunned, hated and loathed. On the other hand, it seems to be that people are dissatisfied with that elves hating DKs in societal broadness. In case of the latter, I think it's pretty ridiculous that they'd be found acceptable within nelf society at all.
Death Knights are after all monsters, abominations of life in every sense of the word, with their creation and origination being anything but benevolent or natural. How your character deals with this fact is what should make DK RP. You can't change that you're essentially a walking death machine created out of unholy means. You can't change that the inherent nature of a death knight is evil. Mograine's statement in a quest reflects this.
So nelves hating them for what they are shouldn't really come as a surprise. Until Cataclysm, they were one of the few races actually shunning magic for the corruption and destruction it wrought, and there is distrust against them still.
Are we to assume that just cause Tyrande gives a sign of okay that this distrust would suddenly wash away and make them forget 10,000 years of history?
Pairing that xenophobia and distrust of the arcane with the fact that Death Knights are born out of a magic as malevolent as the fel, while also pairing with the fact that nelves are very much in tune with nature (and Death Knights essentially being unnatural abominations outside of the life/death cycle), how would one be surprised that they'd be openly hostile to Death Knights? And that the open hostility would be the norm? It's night elves hating a -death knight-, it -should- be the norm.
Death Knights are not normal citizens of the Alliance. They're vessels of destruction, and will never have the same harmony as the living. I can therefore only echo Thelos' point that you can't really stand and chit chat as a Death Knight. The limitations that come with it should be the very thing that makes Death Knight as a class to RP.

There will be no atonement for us,. We are forever damned to walk the earth as monsters. While the Lich King may have loosed his grip upon us, the specters of our past will forever haunt our memories.
We must make amends in the only way we know how: Death...

You show some nerve coming to Teldrassil, Highborne. Your kind are unwelcome here. We have not forgotten the War of the Ancients or the minds behind it.
