This update sucks balls.

It does. It seems like the forum engine tried to get smarter, and with it, fucked up any hopes of making an orderly post. I'm assuming this has been an automatic update from the forum engine, or host or whatever, but it's pretty impractical.

The new quoting functionality, and "smart" copy-pasting are especially bothersome to me. Makes it so much harder to format a post.

So, question:
Any way to disable this new functionality for my account?

When you're editing a post or creating one. There's a button to the far right which looks like a paper/document. Click it, and it should get you back to the BBCode version. Sometimes it will fuck up and show you the color code for each and every line, but just ignore that as it pretty much does nothing.

But yes, this new version is horrible. Give back the old!

SO basically, there was a change, people are not yet used to it (like me) and so it sucks balls!

lets see in a few weeks when people have gotten the hang of it

I find it discomforting too currently! its really breaking up my normal rythm.

It sucks balls because it automatically transports all sorts of meta-information I don't need.

Example:
If I post an image, I copy the URL of the image, paste it in my post, and put it between [img]

However, with this update, when you paste an URL, it automatically embeds [url] tags to go with it. Invisible ones you don't see. Putting that image link you just posted, that's automatically been pimped with this meta-data, in-between [img] tags, it spazzes out.

I was going to post an example here of how bad it spazzed out, but it messed up my post to such a degree I had to remove it.

Anyway. It appears the forum remembers I prefer to compose my posts in "Editor Mode" or whatever. So, problem solved! Once the button is clicked, all that nasty auto-make-up is gone.

We will probably get used to over it time, seeing as the old system has been there for years and we're not used to something new.

That would be true if it was still functioonal.

With the new update I quoted someone's post, and for the life of me couldn't figure out how to add lines outside of the citation block.

The same thing happened for me, if you don't have a line above and no under the quote, it's impossible to write something outside of it in the "design" mode and not "edit" mode (as I will from now on call it).
But with the Switch Editor Mode function everything should work as normal, unless it bugs just once as it has done for me.

You can. Click the "Switch Editor Mode" button.

Whenever I quote someone, I can't seem to type outside of the quote box. Odd.

That is when you press the button on the far right of the list above the editing box that looks like a document/paper and it will take you back to the old BBCode view where you can type outside of the box.

The issue with the search function is the lack of propper index. Doubt that'll ever exist.
