Re: The Defias Battle.net topic.
This is also true. If this thread is to function it needs more effort in posts and fewer low effort link posts.Amaryl wrote:my main complaint would be more that just posting links is just worthless. at least add a description as to what i'm clicking towards. the same would be said for the news thread. its all just pointless; Here's a link, but i'm not even going to say what's interesting about it. that kinda defeats the purpose of a forum, i'd be on reddit if i just wanted crappy spam.
one of my mottos: if its not worth a description, the link isn't worth it to read.
Edit for Content: Almost any of the compilation threads by Fyne on the Roleplaying forum is a good way to waste a half hour or so. He's got threads on subjects lie [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in the setting where basically he records interesting posts by other people on the subject in question. Some of these posts are ridiculously over-researched while others are things which presumably just made him laugh.

It takes longer to write a whiny post than to click on a link and skim through it.

Re: The Defias Battle.net topic.
You're free to just post links ephitos. but if even you can't be arsed to actually give your opinion on thread and why you link it, why would i even find it interesting enough to read? or why would anyone else?
If the threads linked aren't meant to be read and discussed its just spam, spam that's worse than random .gif posting. because i can see .gifs without additional effort ;p

Yeah I know, right; discussions on a forum, who'd have thought. we should go back to the olden days and do public executions and market trading.

Guys. Seriously. Stop derailing the thread please. I don't think I'm the only one starting to get slightly annoyed by it. Just let it go.

You read this thread at first and you think "Has AD sunk to new levels" and then you check again and it said's "That guy is from DB". One quick alt-finder check turns the entire thread into a success troll story for our friend Dolphus who used to visit our own lovely realm forums.

Just for the person who whispered Raven (I have a strong feeling they are on DefiasRP). She is a former guild leader of a roleplaying guild on Argent Dawn and is probably one of the most fervent supporters of roleplay you'll find in a guild as OOC as The Shade.
An interesting topic none the less to yet again highlight the unnecessary divide between 'rpers' and the rest of the realm.

DB is just the same as AD, just with a private forum and less numbers.

No. No it's not. From my short experiences with it, I can very easily tell it's different. Perhaps it's like DB used to be, however. It's not like DB is today.Lexgrad wrote:DB is just the same as AD.
The mindset of the RP of those I've been observing (albeit in Elwynn/Stormwind mostly), has had a similar approach as what we used to, in bigger numbers. However, since then a lot has changed. Alliance used to be all about the open RP, it's not anymore. It's closer to Horde's style of RP now where individual guilds focus on their thing instead of interacting with one another. That doesn't mean it's entirely like that, but then again I did say it was closer.
I assume you can find similar stuff on AD, however saying DB is the same as AD is stretching it very far- because all you need to do is go to Stormwind and you can see the massive difference right there.

Re: The Defias Battle.net topic.
The only real difference I've observed in my adventures on AD is that there are simply more people there. That's it. It has the same types of guilds, the same types of character- and player archetypes. The same elitists, the same non-elitists, the same trolls.
There's just more of everything.

Re: The Defias Battle.net topic.
My glorious RP career started in Goldshire with Marrenus (if that was his name, he used one of those TBC "goggles" for an eyepatch, think he lead or co-lead a guard guild at some point). y u all diss GS so much.

I was in Goldshire back when Geldar and that gnome guy were co-GMing the Goldshire Guard guild.

I really suggest you read it, it's a long post but it's about how I believe the game should change. It takes the idea of item squish onto levels and pushes it a big step further. Going as far as making old dungeons and raids viable again.
also this may get you curious:

The main thing I learned from that is that ERP is allowed. Huahuahuah.

Wish I could post and say my piece, but alas... I can't. Good post nonetheless, and some of the responses were really good too (though the morons who said "Block the addon" ought to be blocked themselves...).
