Reporting OOCer's

AFAIK he cannot, being banned (temporarily?) for the "Gilneas phasing" thread (correct me if I'm wrong). And he'd be warned/thread deleted/banned for a naming/shaming thread anyway, as that's something always cracked down on.

I do report stupid names (yes Goons have many, Porkflute, ho ho, it's slang for penis, hehe, funny... etc). And I encourage others to do so. People could even speak to the person in whisper and broach the rules and naming. The person may not even be aware. They may, on the other hand, be a tool. In which case report anyway.

And I don't think it's "bad" to make people aware of potential disruptors or ne'er-do-wells intent on shafting people's RP (or any other aspect of the game). However doing so publicly often gives these pricks the oxygen and attention they so rabidly desire. Something that continues to be done, since time immemorial, on the official forums.

But I don't like a naming and shaming, finger pointing thread. Not my cup of tea. And, as some have said, just looks like the side of RP elitism you are fighting against yourself in other posts and threads.

I'd also hazard a guess that names would appear that some people know personally, possibly as RPers, or who believe their names (rightly or wrongly) are "ok". And may have even been given the "ok" by a GM.

I'm not saying reporting names is a bad thing, mind you. I always immediately report names or spam. I usually send them a whisper, too, saying I reported the name because it is against the realm polucies. Sometimes I get a "I didn't know" response, sometimes a big "fuck yooouuu".

The only day to deal with harassment that works is to completely ignore them, and file reports where they can't see it. A thread like this encourages trolls. They want to see a reaction, the more dramatic the better.

"Naming and shaming" to them is nothing more then a badge of honor. A confirmation that their efforts to troll people have worked. That they are provoking an (emotional) reaction.

Vangrel, There's a difference between reporting people who break the TOS, and making a public list - denouncing the baddies! For all to see and shame.

By all means; Report offensive and non-rp names, but don't incite a pogrom.

The realm-forum stops Naming and Shaming for a reason. And thus attempting to set it up here is just ridiculously stupid. (and ironic, considering you're the biggest voice that says; DefiasRP is helping/creating the divide between RP and other communities of this realm)

This is true. I've seen (and reported) ex-guildies and " acquaintances" before. Either when they're too stupid to listen to sense and make a daft name, or want a name change after a change of heart/realisation.

Seeing as it's the same thing being disagreed with:

A list and/or names being posted here would only make them easier to report for as many people as possible.

Why? Because it takes more than 1 report to make a difference.

Then do so on the realmforums, your reach is even bigger there.

Besides, it will show blizzard all who dare breach their code of conduct!

More often than not, the players have tried to come up with names on their characters only to find out it has already been taken. What do they do, if not write down the first thing that comes to mind and press "Create"? What Cid said. Instead of posting a list of their names and having them mass-reported, whisper them and suggest that site for them to find a new name, then offer to report them so they get a free namechange.
