Raenmar-style interest thread: Prison RP

Starting with a disclaimer: When I make long sentences, explaining my exact thoughts and motivations, I mostly stop making sense.
Will try to keep this short, in other words.

Anyway, this is one of the many ideas for future RP concepts or characters I've toyed with for a while:
How about RPing in the first cell in the Stockades? Having a small pool of inmates, most likely in a guild for better communication (and for ironic black and white tabard).

RP would be pretty simple, everyday business inside the walls, getting desirable objects into the prison, breaking temporary inmates (read other RPers who have gotten arrested) out of prison, having Silence of the Lambs/Criminal Minds-interviews with the city guards, contacting lawyers to appeal to court, councillors, or judges for freedom, and perhaps, one day RPing the prisoner returned to society.

To keep it fun, the guild would have a majority of long-sentence prisoners, arsonists, cultists, various degrees of murderers (although, serial killers would have to be exceptionally well written to get a spot) and violent offenders. Forbidden magic too perhaps?

To begin with, this would be an alt guild, with something like one evening a week planned out.

Suffice to say, if there's close to 5 people here who'd be into that kind of thing every now and then, it would be worth a shot. If there's more, we'd naturally be in different prison wings (as many as the plot needs there to be), but occasionly meet in common areas. If succesful, a concept like this could add a lot to the justice system, first and foremost prison sentences that aren't "You can't get RP until you conveniently break out in a day or two", but with luck, also to the guard guilds "police-like" sides. Crime scene investigations would be more fun if you have a pool of established usual suspects (such as former inmates), just like "profiling" from said crime scenes might be possible.

For larger events, perhaps the cells are having the yearly cleaning and the inmates are escorted one at a time to the Command Center or a similiar location, allowing them to interact with more than a dungeon group at a time etc.

Wardens to rule the prison with an iron hand, psychiatrist-style healers to try to get inside the criminal's mind, as well as regular ones for medical checks would also be insanely cool, but perhaps not to start with.

Basicly, some crossover between a prison and Arkham Asylum (as seen in the video games, not the movies), as well as a livable punishment for criminal RPers from other enviroments who get caught, is what I'm thinking of.

If you can get this off of the feet, I can imagine that things could get really interesting, as we could reinstate using the Stockades again as a more viable location for prisoners, and give people stuck in Prison for a longer period of time, something to do with their characters.

Stockades limits you to only 5 people.

I -might- be up to ocassionally play a Draenei psychiatrist/prison revenant. Could be fun.

I think I definately have the particular set of skills to play an obfuscating psylosopher.

It would probably have to be a tiny gnome though. A tiny gnome asking many annoying questions, inevitably pissing off the prisoners and ending up retroactively calling his treatment "Anger Therapy".

I think this is a great idea, I em in the prison right now waiting to get out so it would be cool to be sent to the prison there instead and roleplay with other people, but for your sake I hope it is warded.

I would suggest a prison location that is open world honestly, could CLAIM it's part of the stockades tho.
As for warded. Martha, what kind of idiots wouldn't ward their own prison?

You could use one or several of the prisons in the WOTLK style Alliance keeps, such as Valiance keep. Those have very nifty prisons and for some reason a prison in the cold, harsh north where escaping means getting devoured by rabid nerbuian crypt fiends seems appealing to me.

Oh yeah, those are actually very nice, a bit tiny perhaps but nice.

Having been playing Skyrim for the last few days, I'll say that I really wish that Skyrim had a Online mode, where you could host your own world that people could join, (where as they download the mods you have when joining, so everyone's on equal terms). Being able to add/remove things from the world would be fucking awesome.
I imagine things like these would fit it so damn well.

Valliance keep would be incredibly easy to use, I could see that working. Still not counting the stockades out indefinately, but I reckon having other locations to use as well would be smart move.

As for Martha, I think the exact details about warding would be up to the Warden, but that there definately would be some in place for most people RPing a class.

Violet Hold was fun to use when Dru was locked up there. Was very different.

Sorry, what?
Since it'd still be under Alliance jurisdiction, or rather, Human jurisdiction, I can't see how you could choose "Either get executed or sit in another prison".

Prison doesn't work that way, and escaping from prison certainly wouldn't give you any freebies on choosing what prison you'd go to afterwards, you'd probably just go straight to the gallows.


And Drust, yeah. Violet Hold is quite different, but it's the only logical place where to put really powerful beings as it's controlled by really powerful mages.

That's a really nice idea. Unfortunately I don't have enough char slots to make another alt for this (altoholic....), but mayb e I could join in with a crossrealm char once in a while if I'm free.

Even though only 5 people can enter the instance, it doesn't stop people RPing in the outside section, and being invited to the group when they wish to 'enter' the cell.

The thing is tho, Feydor. If there's currently 5 inmates in there, you can't have a guard come by since the instance is full. 5 people is not a large number, infact it's far too small.

I'll take the feedback here as a yes to the interest-question, btw, and start by trying to set up a guild for it, and make 1-3 upcoming RP nights as calendar events.
