Nah. This would only favour the most hardcore raiding guild. No rp'er would stand a chance

Why would any role-player want to own a frostmourne?

So they can show up during events, flash it around and then dissapear through a deathgate.

Pretty much this! I wouldn't want to see it in RP but I'd love to see one chosen player on each server being lucky enough to wield it.

True this makes sense however the model is lovely. Does not technically "have" to be frosty itself, I do not know if any other full sized weapons with that model

And then said player gets tired of WoW and we never see it again, as it has happened countless times before. Your point?

Last blizzcon. While it's nothing specific, they're not going to end the game any time soon, they're gonna milk the game as far as they possibly can.
I can't link a source as I don't -have- a source. However they've already copyrighted names which are more than likely upcoming expansions. One of those being the Emerald Dream.

There's still a whole lot they could push out of the franchise.

Confirmed might be the wrong word for it, but it's extremely likely it's going to be +3 expansions, unless the game finally dies somewhere along the way. But I have a hard time seeing WoW actually dying any time in the future, it'll probably keep going for another 10 years before it finally goes completely dead.

By that point only the most loyal folks and the people just simply sticking around because it ties together them with their online friends, that will be around. WoW's already in a decline, and it'll keep declining unless Blizzard re-releases the game at some point.

So your view is that it is better not to see it at all than to see it until a person quits (which could be never, which has happened more times than those countless times before!)?!

EDIT: http://tctechcrunch2011.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/blizzard-product-slate-leaked.jpg - I know this comes up time and time again but it is still a source of info. The dates are about a year out of schedule but that's just due to unforeseen circumstances but going by the information on this there is only one more expansion and tbh, with WoW on the decline and Titan their next project I think it all comes down to how well Titan does. If Titan does really well, WoW will go on the backburner and probably receive patch updates - not expansions - but if Titan flops, WoW will get the prime focus until they can create something new (probably a WoW2 if that happened). Many games have come close to being as good as WoW recently, some even having much better aspects, so in the next five years there will be a better game from another company. Blizzard won't want that to happen.

But either way, this'll go into a looong discussion so I suppose the safest thing to say is, who knows?!

There's only WoW xpac 5 on there because the slate was released during WLK which meant they were working on Cat AND MOP along with the concept for their fifth xpac. They were working THREE EXPACS (meaning SIX YEARS worth of development time following the prior trend) ahead.

Also, on WoW dying, it's going to take a long fucking while till the subject of WoW dying is even remotely relevant. Take a look at Star Wars Galaxies; They peaked in march 2004 at 250k subscribers, which made them the second largest MMO in terms of subscriber base. By the end of 2005, they were barely above 100k subs and the game STILL lasted another 5 years before being shut down. World of Warcraft currently has just shy of 10 million subscribers, 40 times more than the subscriber base of SWG at its PEAK, a game that survived for another 6-7 years AFTER reaching that peak, and still roughly 3 times more than the second largest report of a concurrent subscriber base as far as I know (Aion, 3.4mill players).

Sure, it's been in a decline since Cata, but after 3 years of decline it's -still- 3 times bigger than the second place. Honestly, if somebody speculated that WoW would thrive long enough that my grand children would get to play it while it was still relevant, I'd be inclined to believe them.

I think Ragnarok Online is holding on decently even outside of the Private Server region. But can't speak for sure.

Muz, RO is one of the biggest, if not the biggest Private Server MMO around.
WoW might be the biggest, not entirely sure, but I know RO is up there.

Then we have Everquest, Asheron's Call, and a whole lot of other MMOs.
Very few MMOs seem to actually completely die, at least of the more commercial ones.

I know RO is still huge in the private server area. Even if what I've seen on forums seem's to point that all skilled players abandoned the p-servers long ago. My wondering was if it was still decent among subscribers.

The question about the skilled players comes from a few weeks very recently spent on a private server that was, well, decent. Where me and a friend. Neither of us having played a minute for at least four years were instantly two of the best players on it.

It doesn't have subscribers anymore. The game's free to play now, as they just couldn't compete with the private servers. Barely anyone plays on the official servers tho, since the ratios are shit and you often get way better response from the GMs on private servers.

Make's sense.
And aye, I died a little inside when on ratemyserver I noticed that people count 15 times normal rates as "lowrate" today. I remember when that was almost seen as HIGH rate.
