[A] Anethionean Lecture - "Why should we surrender to the Holy Light?"

"Why should we surrender to the Holy Light?"
Brothers and sisters under the Light,
We invite you to Northshire Abbey this coming Thursday on 14th of June at 20:15 to participate in a lecture to discuss this question. We will begin with a short explanation of one of the scripturally correct stances, after which time will be given to organized questions from the public and at last a free discussion.
The lecture is free, but you will be provided with an opportunity to donate to charity; all money gathered will be used solely for the purpose of acquiring new ink, paper, bindings and quills for the copying of the Book of Revelations.
The lecture is open to the followers of all legally-recognized religions and all races friendly to the Alliance; we however warn you that the teaching of Anethion is only truest for Humans.
Daily Prayers will be held at 20:00, right before the lecture.

Lecture itself will not last more than 15 minutes, and if you pre-write your questions waiting for your turn the organized question-session will be nice and snappy. (I am a fast typer!) So looking forward to some good RP that this will no doubt evoke!
This is not a mass or a sermon, but a more intellectual venue. This is your time to question the Anethionean faith without the fear of persecution! Remember that you can always convert to the One True Faith without joining the Chapter, so take your chance and embrace the inner fanatic!

Anethion was but a man, who received the teaching from the Holy Light!
*Gets chased away by angy Essalians proclaiming the Divine Nature of Anethion saying that he is of the same substance as the Holy Light...ends up running into angry Athanasians, proclaiming that Anethion was but a man and each must seek his own path to the Light.*

I might come, if available. Based on the title alone, I would probably have JP ask questions along these lines (so prep an epic answer):

You speak of surrendering to the Light. Does that not impose Light's will, judgement and punishment when not followed? Is the Light then an authority, submitting its followers?
The Church teaches to follow the Light. There is an important difference in this choice of words. The Church presents the Light as a guide, a path which a true heart and mind could follow consciously to cultivate the best of oneself. This very choice, this conscious choice, to follow the path of the Light is part of a man's faith and this very act of making a choice is to be attributed to his honor. It is not a one-time choice. It is a choice one makes before every act, or performing any duty for our Kingdom.
Do you not deprive followers of this choice, and the first step to any act of faith they may commit, when you preach submission? Do you still inspire followers to become the best they can become for their community, out of their own violition, and not because imposed ruling said so?
It would seem to be that the greatest accomplishment one could achieve is to be free. Free from all evil, doubt, oppression. Free to act in good will and with the strength to perform such. Free to follow one's own honor and that of one's King.

All these questions are obviously answered in the Lecture itself. It would be a poor thing to invite people to a lecture with a provocative title and NOT explain it!

No doubt you will explain them. But expect to be confronted with the difference between your religion and the teachings of the Church (because that's a good opportunity for both characters to emphasize their identity) and questioned in this difference!
