I miss the times when I could cheer for a rainy day
Gentle tiny smooth rain is good.
Fucking rainstorms of pissing down fatass raindrops (which is all we had this summer) isn't good!

Fucking Dutch politicians and their love of symbolic political ideas. Currently article one of the Dutch constitution reads as follows (official translation):
"All persons in the Netherlands shall be treated equally in equal circumstances. Discrimination based on religion, belief, political opinion, race, gender or any other grounds whatsoever shall not be permitted."
Now they (a majority of political parties) also want to include a reference to sexual preference in a perfectly fine constitutional right. Would it change anything? No, it would not. It would not change a damn thing because the list of explicitly referred to 'reasons' for discrimination is not exhaustive. The article is not limited to only those instances, but forbids discrimination based on any reason.*
Changing this would be a waste of precious time, and thus money. But more importantly, this suggestion makes symbolic politics interfere with our constitution and our constitutional rights. I find it offense that such an important document which grants such important rights has become a tool for scoring cheap political points. Ridiculous.
*Legitimate limits on constitutional rights such as the one discussed notwithstanding.

What if I as a gay Dutch citizen would say I would appreciate a specific reference to sexual orientation? o.o

Re: The vent thread
Then I'd say that any concerns you have regarding discrimination based on sexual preference are already covered by this article. A specific reference to such a thing would amount to nothing and would have no use, absolutely no use at all.
The addition of such a reference is only good in symbolic terms, it's a feel good initiative. That's it. The constitution serves to grant us some of our most precious and important political and civil rights. While flawed the constitution is an extremely important document. As such we should not "play around" with it. This adds nothing and instead opens up the constitution to symbolic politics and the scoring of cheap political points. Nobody is served by that happening.
Of course you're free to have your opinion, I can understand the desire too, yet I've my views as well.

Re: The vent thread
Well discrimination on stupidity is the cornerstone of any company.
so it would be pretty bad to put laws against discrimination on that xD
Because lets be honest, the ratio of CEO's suffering from Down Syndrome is far to low to be socially representative, hence we need to put in some affirmative actions, to counter this discrimination!

An former classmate of mine was refused to enter a club in Amsterdam because he's black. WTF! They told him 'we don't like black people with rasta's here'. In f-ing Amsterdam... Come on!
And in before I hear 'some guys always play the discrimination card' I KNOW him. He was my classmate back in the days when people indeed played the discrimination card for the silliest reasons. But G. never did. He's always been an easy-going, relaxed and friendly guy. I've never heard him say he felt discriminated. So it's got to be really bad for him to say he was.

Re: The vent thread
My parents have been pushing me for weeks now to go on holiday, and now that I finally have a destination and a plan, they refuse to even hear me out.
Simply because I met these people on the internet should not have to mean that they're all paedophiles.
The overprotective nature of my mother, and her inability to comprehend that I am indeed growing up faster than my basement dwelling brother is truly getting on my nerves.
Advice on how to convince your parents that you will not disappear in the slave and/or sex market?

Make it so that they get in touch with the people you're gonna meet. E-mail, phone, etc. OR ifthey are also younger. A parent of said people.
First time I went away to visit people of the internet my parents (I was 16 at the time) demanded to get in mail contact with someone who'd be there that was over 18 and had a "serious" email adress. So not a hotmail.com or anything like that but telia.com etc.
Where they asked for adress, phonenumber, etc and all that.
So, they'll know where you'll be, be able toget in touch with "someone more adult" and all that.

It's better if they meet the person you're meeting too. When I went to the cinema with Vendelin/Aderah, my mum came along to make sure she was cool, and now she's fine with me meeting her and any Winterblade (like Shae) because they're "friends of this person".
Or you could just lie and say you met them while you were there, like I did when I met Selene x'D We were in The Hague and I went wondering off by myself, and said "look who I just met right this moment!"

It's quite difficult to take my parents to Norway, since I'd be staying over a mate's place for a week!

Due to go to the Orthodontics today. My bike is out of fuel, and I have no bus fare. And then when I phone the orthodontics to reschedule, it turns out my appointment was actually an hour ago and I have to pay £21 fine

Perhaps you should try crucifying yourself and then walk in?
I always thought such dress codes were very silly.. I mean okay if you want to go in naked or in your speedo, but shorts, really? I don't think MC JC would be so prude to think that's inappropriate.
