Not really ... the only nutrient that comes to mind is maybe creatine? But your body makes its own supply of that and it's only really that important if you're a body builder
And vegetarian means you just don't eat any animal meat (like fish, beef, chicken) but being vegan means you can't have cheese. And I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE cheese lover, love love love cheese immensely but it's an easy sacrifice to make once you realize the damage your causing to the environment and the cows themselves too :( only hard part about being vegan is the expense I'd say ... I'm not sure how expensive all the vegan alternatives are in Europe, but it's so expensive here (mainly cause the only vegan company here is Alpro and it's all shipped from the UK... I think)
Plus soy milk tastes SO much better than cow's milk. Cow's milk is pretty gross cause honestly if you think about it, cow's milk is meant for baby calves not humans so it's KINDA like drinking breastmilk ewww

On the heart and breathing, it can easily just be stress, i've had fucked up breathing for years and years on end, visited so many doctors, no reason was found ever, so it was tracked back to stress.
And i've got something i think the doctor called a nervous heart (not sure)
But yeah, that's stress related too.
Note that it can be both physical and mental stress.
Thanks Ave for your input but I dunno maybe it's stress maybe it's not. It's ironic though cause I started exercise to help me deal with stress and now it's just causing me more stress pfff
And baby brains are also tasty but you don't see me eating them now do you?!?

Vegetarianism fulfils all the requirements for a healthy life, more so than a diet consisting of meat. Heart disease, various forms of cancer and alzheimers/dementia are all much lower frequency in vegetarians and vegans than meat-eaters.
When balanced correctly, it is far healthy than its carnivore equivalent.
Thats just the health side of things. don't even get me started on the ethical aspects.

Red meat also has a lot of links to heart disease. Spinach, on the other hand, which is just as rich in iron, does not.Monrena wrote:and red meat gives a lot of iron which is good for the blood and oxygen supply and the cardiovascular system in general

I'm sceptical about that, to my meager knowledge most plants don't have animal hormones.Monrena wrote:

If the whole world one day turned completely vegetarian, I wonder how long it would take to process all the left over meat-animals.

It doesn't really give you breasts and they don't contain animal hormones, but chemicals that can mimic animal hormones (estrogen mainly, I believe?). My mom told me she sometimes tells her menopausal patients to drink more soy milk because apparently it can help alleviate the "symptoms" :o
And who knows how long it would take, but the whole world wouldn't turn vegetarian all at once :p it'd probably be a gradual shift from a meat-dependent diet to a more plant-based one and as the demand for meat slowly decreases, the beef producers would react accordingly probably and start breeding fewer and fewer cows

Here's to hoping I get that college placement, the course I applied for is extremely competitive ;_; I fear I'm not 'trendy' and 'cosmetic' enough to be picked out of the usual pretties that apply, as I've seen the people they take in.
Is she taking your money because you live there so as if you're paying rent or something? Either way, bummer man really hope the art college thing pulls through for you!!!!
I'd always imagine you'd do something more animal-related though

Would also mean that any... races/species/types of animals held for meat would either die out or become endangered (mommy I want to go to the zoo again, I wan to see the cows!). Atleast global warming would be helped a bit.
And I suppose I don't care if it's animalistic or plant as long as my nacho's taste like nacho's, the burgers like burgers and my orange soda like orange soda.

$@*(% FUCK ME I hate people like that so much I think I'm the only one in the world who actually GAINED weight after becoming vegan ... I blame that delicious alpro soy pudding though mmm god it's good
But ya once I got my act together and started eating properly, * felt so much healthier and energetic honestly but that's just my own personal experience and probably doesn't say much.
Honestly I don't like some people's attitudes where the say "it's my business what I eat, not yours" because technically it is my business ... heavy meat eaters put a huge strain on the environment and the ethical implications are also staggering so ya ...

Oh ya I know about how insanely competition it is but there are plenty of other animal-related courses besides vet medicine, no? Like a friend of mine wanted to do vet medicine but didn't get the grades at AS level so she applied to vet nursing I think. And I thought uni was free for Scottish people? o_o

It's still very expensive due to... "donations".
I've tried so many things, I have the experience for it all, but I lack professional experience. As in.. They don't give a bugger that I've probably had more experience than the employers, there's nothing on paper to back it up.

Your boss should be the one backing it up, actually.
Or that's how it works in Sweden.

What are you serious?? Why does it have to be on paper? Don't you just write about it on the UCAS form and that's it? Get one of your bosses to write up a reference for you and done finish, no?
Either way though, bummer man :( it really sucks and the system is very unfair. So many people here at my school bs'd their way through their UCAS personal statements and obviously the uni's can't verify any of it and they all get in based on their false merits pfff it's ridiculous.

Yes I have that. But the animal-based jobs around here are usually exotic breeds. Which I've owned or handled, but it wasn't a real 'job', so it's nothing.
Hell, I've had lemurs swinging from arms and monkeys nicking crisps out my pockets and I bet they can't say they've handled a tiger? No they can't. \o/

Exercise doesn't always help stress, it depends on how you view it, how you do it and how you view yourself etc etc and maybe you're straining yourself thus stressing your body.
I don't think you wrote it, but what is it you feel about your heart?

As long as you don't believe it's ok to treat the things you eat like shit. And eat things in moderation (apart from sometimes - cos blowouts can be fun!). And care where your food (any food, meat or not) comes from...
There should be no problem, if you're a nut muncher, or a bone chewer. Or something in between.
BUT PLEASE DON'T SAY YOU'RE VEGETARIAN IF YOU EAT FISH (or even worse, chicken).
Because it's stupid. And fish aren't vegetables.

That may be true for the health implications, but ethically... no. Humans have the autonomy to decide between eating a bean and eating animal flesh, we have the ability to live a perfectly healthy life without causing harm to other sentient creatures; choosing the diet that involves taking the life of other sentient creatures therefore, is ethically wrong, whether its done from greed or convenience or both.grufftoof wrote:As long as you don't believe it's ok to treat the things you eat like shit. I don't think you wrote it, but what is it you feel about your heart?
Hmm maybe. I did think that perhaps all the problems were because of over exertion but I don't think that's the case cause I'd get random attacks throughout the day sometimes. Usually I get really really bad chest pains (near my heart) when I exercise. I have a heart rate monitor I wear around my chest and sometimes my heart rate would go up to 200 bpm and if I don't quickly slow down and stop and try to calm myself I pass out. Usually though what happens when I exercise nowadays is I get like a really horrible feeling of tightness around my chest and I start to wheeze and cough
Sometimes though these things might happen to me if I just like walk up a flight of stairs or something. One time I walked up two flight of stairs and was very close to passing out right after. It's weird though cause sometimes it'd be fine and other times it'd be really bad. Like today I went for a run, no problem at all (felt a little bit lightheated but probably cause of the horrible heat)

Your ethics, maybe. Mine, no.
I see nothing wrong in eating the flesh of an animal. So long as that animal has lived well, and died (as) well (as can be).
We have the autonomy to do a lot of things. We also have choice. And conciousness.
Be aware of how your actions affect yourself, other things and especially other people and the world around us, yes. That's what I would ask for, and then I'd leave the choice to people. But keep it as a choice.
And I, for one, enjoy meat and vegetables. I enjoy cheese and wine. And pie and peas. You get the idea. I enjoy food and drink. However, I am aware where meat comes from. Cows don't come packaged in blue polystyrene. Burgers aren't don't just appear magically. Chickens don't go on trees.
It'd be groovy if more people knew where meat came from. And didn't eat unless they knew. Informed choice. Rather than "meals must contain meat". Which is a stupid, stupid idea - and born from poor education mainly. If everyone could get out there and see/rear/kill/butcher their own meat? That would probably, in my mind, be best. But it's not gonna happen anytime in our life.
Until then, eat sensibly, with choice, and with a conscience. That doesn't mean (to me) forgo meat. No more than it means eat only the fruits or vegetables that fall naturally to the earth.
