Religion? Meh. Seems too tedious for my taste. Not to mention I've probably done all of the seven deadly sins.. except maybe killing a human being.. Yes, next on my list.. *Cough*
Anyway. Not much of a vent but still..
Being left behind is equally bad as leaving. ;_;

You forgot Jainism psht ... one of my best friends is Hindu and the religion is so bizarre o_o but really interesting too. They have all these really cool stories and stuff.
Although afaik, Hinduism is a monotheistic religion it's just that their God had many different manifestations ... I think. My friend told me it's because like let's say if somebody finds it easier to relate and worship a female god, then there's a female manifestation of that god ... and different manifestations represent different qualities. Like my friend's "preferred" god is called Matta (short for something like Vayshnavi Matta I think? I dunno) and it's meant to bring courage and wisdom ... I think. it's a female goddess riding a lion!!!
We really don't have anything cool like that in Islam :( I think Mohamed rode a sort of Pegasus like horse to heaven and then back and he got to meet Moses and Jesus I think ... anyways

In essence, this is true; eastern philosophy thrives on contradictions like that (plurality in singularity, singularity in plurality). One of Hindiusms most famous (and notorious) symbols is a fine example of that.
The Godhead has many manifestations, though Krishna is probably the best known in the West (and to me)thanks to the popularity of the Bhagavad Gita.
Though of course my favorite Avatar of the Godhead has to be Ganesh, the divinity I based Thelos on:

I've actually never ever heard of Krishna before although that picture looks familiar and the name sounds familiar too ...
I did a quick google search and turns out my friend's prefered diety thing turned out to be called Vaishnavi (I once knew a girl called Vaishnavi o_O) although she has many different names one of them being Matta Revi?
turns out it's a tiger not a lion .... which makes more sense considering they don't have lions in India lol
My friend also told me that each of the things she's holding is meant to represent something but I don't remember now

I actually said that Buhdda didn't give a shit. When talking about Hundiusm, I'm mostly bluffing and/or pulling shit out of my ass. Everything I know from Hindiusm, I know from reading the Bhagavad Gita, and some Hare Krishna meetings I've been to. I really only know Theravada Buddhism, and to some extend, Daoism, because Lao Tze was one of the world's history biggest bros (Or Lao Tse, Laozi, or whichever other flavor you prefer.)
The thing about eastern religions and/or philosophies though that they dont not to actively besiege eachother. They overlap a lot, and when they do not, they don't tend to make a big deal out of it. Especially Hindiusm is notoriously forgiving. It basicly preaches that all religions are true. (again, at least according to my reading of the Gita) They're all manifestations of the Godhead to some degree. I mean the ammount of shit all these different philosopies and religions express with the words "Karma" and "Yoga" alone are enough to make your head spin.
Speaking of things meaning things...

Islam is too austere to have cool things, especially if its Wahhabi. The coolest think it has are the Jinn, and they're just adapted Arabic pagan folklore!Shaelyssa wrote:We really don't have anything cool like that in Islam I think Mohamed rode a sort of Pegasus like horse to heaven and then back and he got to meet Moses and Jesus I think ... anyways
Actually, the satanic verses are kinda cool... as is the notion that Gabriel almost beat up Mohammed when he first revealed himself.

I wouldn't know Kris :p
and oh ya hahah I remember that story ... Mohammed was meditating or something in some cave in the mountains and then Gabriel came down and ordered him to read and Mohammed was like "I dont know how" and Gabriel got mad and was like "Read!!! READ!!! READ!!!"
"READ in the name of your Lord who created, he who created man from 'alaq (dont know wtf that is ... mud/clay I think?)
READ in the name of your Lord most generous, he who taught man how to read and write
and taught man what he did not know"
... it sounds so much cooler in Arabic

Re: The vent thread
There are several verses written during Mohammed's ministry in which he was supposedly deceived by the devil. The verses state its okay to seek intercession from pre-Islamic Meccan gods. They were omitted from the Quran, obviously.Shaelyssa wrote:And wait what do you mean by satanic verses? the ones about Iblis or ... ?

Re: The vent thread
A bit the topic of being holebi and christian:
I was surprised of reading an interview with a Bishop in our country. One that I deeply admire. What he basically said in a small summary:
- Married men should be allowed to become priests.
- In the end, the man&woman relation will always remain important to the church, it was how it all started with Adam & Eve and how mankind reproduces. But love is also an important factor. If a church believes kindness and love are important values in this world, you cannot be against love on certain levels such as same sex.
I fear he just ruined his chance to become Cardinal of Belgium but he did gain a lot of respect from me. I hope there's good times in store for christianity in countries such as Belgium.

Bad choice of words there from my part.
But yes I am aware Catholics don't allow it when protestants do. It's also just something that needs to be changed on the level of Canon law from the Catholic church their part.
