I dont see what the big deal is ... most of those "green" products are still far better alternatives in most cases

Amaryl wrote:Well firstly saying carbon debt is silly.
it should be carbondioxide debt, since carbon is bloody neutral, unless fusion or splitting happens...
And i'm just getting bored about people throwing buzz words like renewable, and substainable and biological and green about, and a lot of people buy into the hoax of the word, while not understanding what the feck it means... (though you're pretty on the ball )
and most of the debt numbers are seriously under-estimated...
Monrena wrote:Was there any need for thatcodesending poast? That was extreamly rude. I gave you the definition for what you asked. If you have ever picked up a scientific paper and read it then you would know this. As for the co2 thing if were going to do this properly CO2 is the proper scientific term and also start Reading some enviromental journals. Scientists around the world have spent well over 50 years colecting data with regards to CO2 hardly a hoxe and calling it such is a big insult to all these scient as you are efecuivly accusing them of falsifying data. One of the biggest hates in the scientific community. If you dissagree then show me FACTS and links disprooving this data that has been so painstakenly collected and anolised!!! And think beffor you reply and it's actualy closer to 7 years that wind farms pay off there CO2 debt from construction. And I use all words in there propped place there. Don't like it. Leave the topic to die!!
read the bolded part of my first quote, before you get so upset. I haven't accused you of being unkowning. on the bloody contrary. I have no need to insult you or say to other people that they should die. Lol.
i'm saying that things are under analysed and mis-represented. addionally, CO2 debt and CO2 Neutrality is for stickers and products, the one that you see on bio-fuel companies, airliners, bio-degradable equipment, etc etc etc etc etc. Isn't calculated by Scientist, its calculated by the companies making them, is wholefully dependant and subjective.
Additionally, The Big environmental institutes in the UK and US have their objectivity sorely questioned as the Wiki-cables show. Not that the data collection has been tampered with, but that the representation and the statistics are Purposefully swayed to the side where the money comes from.
The proper atom number for Carbon Is C
CO2 is carbon dioxide, so the term Carbon-debt is a wrong term. since no carbon magically appears or dissapears. and even fossile fuels are Carbon Neutral. That's what I said.
Could you quote the windmill article? Otherwise i'll go through the calculations tomorrow, when i have access to my online libraries. and double check the data.

I'd do a google scholar search for the correct hit, and go through the variables in the calculations and say: this and this and this and this wasn't calculated try again. >.> mostly
Edit: since at home I can only view abstract, but from work, i can access all the full articles... >.>

I think it's a bad couple of years to come for environmentalists.
There's a lot of others issues that will get priority. It's always been a backseat issue but I imagine it will become even more so.

well like organic fruits and vegetables, no pesticides and no chemicall fertilisers means a cleaner water supply and no soil pollution amongst other things
also becomming vegeterian means less land and water is being spent on food
and it also means you stop slaughtering poor innocent cows :( END THE VIOLENCE!!!!

Re: The vent thread
it doubles the amount of farming ground needed though. More farming ground means more dead rodents and the like through harvesting, means more land clearings, means more dead animals means more damage to the eco system, means more irrigation needs, means more need of piping and tubing and machinery... etc, etc...Shaelyssa wrote:

!
and i'm not sure if that equates to a cleaner water supply...

Re: The vent thread
well no solution is perfect
and pestitices and chemical fertilisers wash away into the underground water storage thing that eventually filters into rivers and streams iirc?

Re: The vent thread
Totally separate.. I'm annoyed at how fast bookies move!
A football forum I host and administrate became aware of a market that must have been priced up by someone who did NO research, and we all went to make a fair bit of cash from it. Sadly the bastards noticed an unusual betting pattern within 5 minutes of us noticing and suspended the bet that was stupidly priced.
Damn bastards stopping me getting nan easy £160.

do bare in mind that for well over 2000 years this was the primary method of farming beffor the 1930's when chemicals started entering use by farmers and yes 1 cow does do more damage to the enviroment per squair meeter than traditional farming but i still eat burgers!!
