A question concerning computers..
Evening! I recently ordered a new computer: an iMac. It should be here in a couple of days, so no more laggy Fawn from then on.
What I was wondering, can I transfer files from windows PC's to OSX Macs just as easily as from PC to PC? I've done it before using the network and the 'sharing files' option.. However, idk if it works the same with PC to Mac.
I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff, honestly, but I'd imagine its different because of different formatting types per OS etc.
On top: can I transfer my WoW game aswell? I don't have the first three discs, only Cata, and don't feel like DLing the entire load. However I have -no- idea how to go at this.
Also; is it possible to keep my addons' settings saved and not lose TRP info / GHI items?
Thanks in advance. Hope someone can help me.

First off, Mac isnt a good gaming pc :3
Secondly you should be able to save exported addon files on an external harddrive and place it over.. the wow game aswell but youre better off simply Downloading it from thier site, its much quicker than the discs and maybe even transfering it around.

Re: A question concerning computers..
First of all congratulations on your purchase.
And yes, since Blizzard make their games to work for both systems, there shouldn't be a problem. Enjoy!
As for other files. It depends on what they are. But worst case you can set up a part of your hard drive to run in Boot Camp, meaning Windows Mode, and transfer them there. I would only advice you to do that if you REALLY need those files though, and there turns out to be no other way. Because if you're only playing WoW, you will never have any other reason to run Boot Camp anyway.
About the addons, I think that will be a bit harder. But if you transfer the whole game over and that works, your addons should be brought over as well. Be prepared for the worst though.

Re: A question concerning computers..
For installing the game, I recommend to download it like the others. It proved the most comfortable way to me, at least.
Transferring your addons is as simply as copying your addons folder to your mac (do keep out the Blizzard files). Tranferring the data of your addons (the flag rsp descriptions, GHI, game settings) is as simple as copying your WTF folder from the PC game folder to the Mac game folder.
To copy the rest of your files, it's a bit tricky. YES, you can get Windows and Mac to talk to each other through ethernet, which makes a simple UTP cable (preferably cross cable) the easiest way to connect them. But my experience also showed this tends to be a tricky thing. Some general pointers, provided there is no other network connection active (or you'll run a security risk... ehh.. for the Windows machine)
- Turn off the firewalls
- Turn on file sharing on windows: make sure at least 1 folder is shared
- Turn on file sharing on Mac. By default it will share the public folder and drop box.
- Try to find the Mac on the Windows machine (it tends to go easier this way) and drop anything you want to save in the drop box.
If that didn't do the trick, contact us again
