They are not there to make you special. They are there because those groups have their own dedicated private forums (at least, most of them).

Leave the Horde group (and the Alliance group if you're in that one too). They override any other group colors

I haven't got a clue who mods the guard bit. Heck, it might have even been Mansfield, or potentially Darothar. Might be worth poking a mod about it if you're still wanting to actually be in the guard bit :p
