[A] House Helmsley

Greetings roleplayers of Defias Brotherhood. Once again it is time for the Helmsleys to sip expensive wine, prance around Stormwind in their red and gold, and host the occasional tournament, feast or WPvP campaign. If this sounds of interest to you, then read on, perhaps it is time for you to become a Helmsley, or someone in their service!

Who are these Helmsleys?

The Helmsleys, or rather, House Helmsley is a family of Stormwind nobility. The House goes back as far as the days of the Arathorian Empire, and as such, they are rather proud and ambitious. Though it might not hold as much land as it once did, House Helmsley is still immensely rich, and ever watchful for anything that may help improve its fortunes. The vast majority of Helmsleys are fair of skin and golden haired, though there have been a few cases of brown hair throughout their history.

Usually tall and broad shouldered, the male scions of House Helmsley tend to make excellent knights. As for the women, some have been known to be somewhat frail, and a fair few have died during childbirth as a result of this. On the other hand, many Helmsley women have been considered great beauties.





House Helmsley is ruled by Lord Gregor Helmsley, next in line is Sir William Helmsley, eldest son of Gregor’s brother Mortimer. Other near family members includes William’s sister Anna and Gregor’s brother Hearst and his sister Annabeth.. Family members are expected to attend matters of importance to the House, and sometimes represent the Lord in his absence. Members of House Helmsley are expected to behave as befits high nobility.

There are several pairs of shoes to be filled for the family, we are looking for someone to play Hearst, as well as Daniel, William and Anna’s younger brother and Isabelle, the widow of Roland.



Proud, fearless, and often intoxicated, the Knights of House Helmsley will stop at nothing to further
the glory of the house and their name. Best stay on the good side of these fine brutes.

Knights are noble, elite combatants who are awarded with quality armour, weapons and horses for their services, the most prestigious of whom may even hold land of their own. While their rewards are greater than those of the Men at Arms, they are also expected to be on a higher level both where skill at arms and noble etiquette is concerned. A knight sworn to House Helmsley should always strive to act in accordance with its values and in its best interest.

For knights we are only looking for one in particular, one Sir Logan, whom would have yellow as his personal colours.
Beyond that, any knight that may fulfill the above requirements would be considered!



The backbone of any House are the numbers they can rally for battle.
The men at arms will fight until they fall... as long as they get paid.

Along with the Knights, the Men at Arms are the muscles of House Helmsley. They do not have extravagant wages, but they have food and lodgings, as well as maintenance of weapons and armour, and some coin on the side. There is also potential for exceptional Men at Arms to advance to Knighthood through their deeds in the service of House Helmsley. Unlike the Knights however, the Men at Arms are often more lightly armoured, and can be archers, guardsmen and scouts, rather than just heavy cavalry or infantry, though many fall under the latter category as well.

There are no particular roles that need to be filled within this rank, though a Captain of the Guard may be promoted at some point if we get sufficient amounts of Men at Arms.



They pour the wine and empty the chamberpots. House Helmsley would not have gotten
far without a stagnant household with a can-do spirit. (and on record-low wages!)

The civilian employees of the House, these men and women perform the various menial tasks required to keep a successful household running. These positions include servants of various sorts, cooks, maids and perhaps young pages from other noble houses. Like the Men at Arms, they are given food, shelter and protection as payment for their services, as well as a small sum of coin.

There are no particular spots we need filled here, though a kitchen master/mistress and perhaps eventually a gamekeeper would be good. Other roles are still appreciated of course.

It is worth noting that the names of the specific characters we seek people to play have been reserved for these purposes, and will be provided when we find the people to play them.

What happened to the Helmsleys? Why don’t I recognize any names from earlier?

Lord Helmsley, whom rather few people were fortunate enough to encounter, is returning as before. The twins, whom the original Helmsley family were based around may reappear at some point, but for now it is enough to know that they have been disinherited and no longer have their lordly father’s favour. Hearst, of whom some may have heard is still out there, and may indeed appear someday soon. His son, or alleged bastard, Bret is not as fortunate, and has met his demise. I could go on but this should give a good enough idea of where the land lies. During the year or so that has passed, the Helmsleys have been securing lucrative mining prospects in Northrend.

On the OOC side of things, this project fell into inactivity as a result of me moving and being without a stable internet connection for about half a year. This is not likely to occur again in the next couple of years. If you have any questions regarding House Helmsley or our recruitment policy, feel free to respond here, or poke William or Nathan in-game. It is important to note that the specified characters above are far from the only ones we're looking for, we want people from all the above categories.

Curious to hear, as you've pre-defined some characters of the House like that, have you also defined what should they be like and so on, or is just just the names & relations?

We have certain ideas on it, but it would mostly be up to the person playing them as long as it makes sense I believe. Some of them have certain traits or qualities that we have thought out, but it is obviously open for discussion as well. Feel free to contact me regarding these special cases if you want more information.

One may be lucky and find someone willing to trade it for in-game things, or you can buy it on... I'm apparently not allowed to post sites, but it's a legitimate one anyway!

I currently have a Human Priestess called Evalinn that I have no current theme for, I wouldn't mind being part of the noble family itself? I'm quite comfortable in filling in any role however. Whisper me on her, Emberstone or (Horde) Vectoria! ^-^

If I don't misremember, you were along briefly for the previous Helmsley project near the end on some character, were you not? In any case, I'd be happy to discuss the possibilities, I'll be on for a while tonight.

I was indeed, Vasandra was my High elf Paladin I briefly used as a In-house medic for the house, but I had complications with my account (Hacked and half my charecter list stripped, sold and deleted.) When i finally got my account back, I had very little urge to level her further.

Understandable! Well, I'm ingame now, if you're able to hop on alliance?
