Re: The "other game thread"
Wow.. had a quick go of it last night and the keybindings are insane. forward, left, right and backward is 2 4 6 8 on the numpad arrow keys. To open up the main menu it is the - numpad key. Zoom in zoom out is , . and all sorts of crazy stuff like that. You can tell it was created for the consoles too. Here's an example of how to engage something in a fight. Find an enemy>Highlight>Double click>Click attack on the dropdown menu>Get in range>click the Magic option on the dropdown menu>Go through four different catagories to find the spell or attack you want. Then if you don't have any healing spells or abilities after a fight either run to an outpost or type /heal and slowly heal back to full health.
I am enjoying it however. It's quite a charming and well-crafted game. The graphics, for a 2002 game, are surprisingly still not an eyesore. Not amazing but it's 3D with nice spell effects, nice armour models and weapons and character designs. Only poor part is obviously the dodgy texture work.
Quests don't have massive yellow exclamation marks over the NPC's head either. You talk to people in town and some will point you to someone else who has quests. So like "Do you see that guy over there in the white robes, I heard him asking for some help." Which I think is a nice touch. Then there's the Mission system that tries to be a cohesive storyline. Linear and direct with cutscenes and all that, like a true final fantasy game. The quests can probably be seen as side-quests.
It's actually the only MMORPG I've played so far that feels like it tries to hold true to the RPG expectations. Anyway, I'm going to shut up now because I know nobody is going to read this or care if they do. Sadly, this game isn't League of Legends.

I tried to play that a while back, but it just kept breaking on me. :@ I was looking forward to taking it for a spin as well.

We need a separate League of Legends thread...
Also, placed a spray of Pinkie Pie outside BLU base in TF2. Cue 2 hours of one guys eternal rage and horror.

It was for the greater good. That's the way I roll.
Through just pressing "t" on a wall I effectively incapacitated one of their team, and he ended up becoming a distraction for his teammates.

Even if you were on my team, I'd have banned you from the game. xD Those freaky little stick dog-animals anger me. Grow a real pony.

And that's why I did it.
Ponies make people abnormally angry.
I dont troll very much, honest ^___^;; the guy was being a douche and berating this one guy on his team who was doing way better than the accused, so I sentenced him to torture.

In other news, I really want this for some reason:
Dear Esther Steam-page
Entirely story-based. Very interested to see how it is. Plus, amazed at how well it uses the source engine, most realistic-looking game using it to date.

I could get the original, a free half life 2 mod, but it looks graphically awful in comparison.
HOW CAN I NOT HAVE £6.99?!!

Re: The "other game thread"
ME3 demo impressions;
They promised us new customization for males (longer hair, beards). Nothing.
The acting is slightly akward.
Console port graphic quality, too much focus on faces - clothes look shit.
Still don't like Ashley's new look.
Insanity is pretty hard. Really.
Good fucking god you stick to everything when you need to run away and to nothing when you need to get in cover. Rebind either run or take cover to a new key <.>
Wrex has the hots for Liara?
Mordin still doesn't have the right voice.
Sound's somewhat buggy (demo issue?)
While not especially amazing, the MP section of the demo is actually pretty solid - even if the text messaging is broken as of current. Its your standard shoot 'm waves, gaining xp to spec out the traditional (now fancier) ME2 talent tree and credits to buy bags that give a chance at weapon/mods/avatar species (class limited).

I think it's all just a demo issue. Remember why it's a demo and not the final product. It's not ready yet. Have faith!

I played DA2 Demo, it was horrific. So was the game.
I played Kingdoms of Amalur demo, it was decent but the game turned out to be decent and (fun)
I played Crusader Kings 2 demo and instatly pre-ordered.
I think there is pretty good reason why most companies don't even release demos anymore so people have to buy a pig in a sack.

Re: The "other game thread"
My friend, who is a massive ME fan, played the demo last night. He says it was utterly shit. They removed the 'hacking' that they had in ME 1 and 2, the game so far is basically 'press-space-to-win'. He can't complain on the story, compared to ME 1 that had awefull fight-mechanics and where the quests on diffrent worlds were just "go there, talk, kill" or "go there, search, kill."
Im not going to place my own opinion until I actually play it though, I tend not to play demo's/beta's since it might ruin my will to try the game.
On another note; GW2 is so hyped. Im incredibly hyped for it, but the game is waaaaaay to hyped. People are so hyped that, Im afraid that the game wont be able to live up to peoples expectation. No game could live up to this many peoples hype and expectation.
And if it does live up to the hype? Then, Im going to lock myself in my room, with a ton of tissue boxes.

Re: The "other game thread"
Eowale, about GW2. Comfort yourself with that you can try it for 50 hours stretched out over three months and not pay more than you did for Skyrim. But you'll be playing with your friends (hopefully). Maybe even less than one did for Skyrim.
As for DA2 being horrific. I disagree, yes the combat was sorta lackluster but storywise I found it in general better than DA:Orgins. Since the first was... so clyche "heros tale" that I'm sick off.

Re: The "other game thread"
I never played Skyrim. I don't like singleplayer RPG's at all. The only singleplayer RPG game I've played is Mass Effect. Though, that depends if I count away Warcraft 3 (Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne), Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty: MW2 and MW3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3.
Yes, I'll play with my pals. I have about.. twenty people that are going to try it (and most will RP aswell).

A difference has to be created between RPG's and games that only have character building (creating and improving) features.

The reason why there are RPGs, and games with RPG elements.
Most modern shooters are the latter in that you have levels and get upgrades depending on use.

It's singleplayer nontheless. And those games I usually just finish the singleplayer once and then play Multiplayer.

You only listed one RPG there. Do you honesty think CoD of BF are RPG games? >.<
The fact that they have RPG weapons doesn't make them RPG games! XP

Re: The "other game thread"
RPG's I've played are
Off the top of my head. As you can see I never really got into the genre until I bought a 360. My dad got me into Final Fantasy games and that is when I played 7 and 9 then I bought 10 and 10-2 for myself and went on from there ^_^
- Spoiler:
- Dragon Quest,
Dragon Age 1 + 2,
Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 10-2, 11, 12, 13, 13-2,
Edlerscrolls 4 + 5,
Blue Dragon,
Two Worlds,
Too Human,
Star Ocean TLH,
Lost Odyssey (My favourite - Highly reccomend),
Pokemon blue, gold, crystal, emerald, white and ranger,
Fable 1, 2, 3,
Mass Effect 1, 2,
Risen,
Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Re: The "other game thread"
Must say I absolutely loved lost odyssey, the dreams were really fun to read, and the game just FELT like you could make more of a connection to the characters than the usual over the top spikey haired buster sword wielding Market... Though Queen Ming, has a special place in my heart.
Also been rocking the Persona series myself.
Gotta say they're a strange genre blend, but really quite enjoyable, all the more so as I'm following the anime of Persona 4.
