This basically. Except they're in a dictatorous phase right now and the only canon RP happening aside from sit in the camp and drink tea is when the GMs decide to advance the storyline.

Re: Future wish List for Wow
Perhaps not so much what I want for wow, in a way I'm not even sure I'd enjoy it, but some things that on ocassion has crossed my mind. Not very realistic at all, just a plain "I wonder what things would be if":
1. That Elwynn forest is the size of Northrend and the rest of the world scaled accordingly (goldshire alone being the size of Stormwind and Stormwind the size of... dragon blight? more perhaps). With many small villages, keeps, ruins, mines and caverns and whatnot added to fill the space. With a number of transportations to help move about. But some areas being inaccesible by the fast transportation system and that you'll have to move towards and explore on your own.
2. That the phasing is changed into a chapter structure. That each "levelling"-bracket has it's own chapter (later brackets being inaccesible until you unlock them) with a number of "bookmarks" in them. The chapters represent the entire zone and all it's phases, the "bookmarks".
As you progress you unlock new ones that update the zone accordingly, but at any point you can go back to a previous bookmark or chapter. To help your friends, experience it again or whatnot (and perhaps being automatically "adjusted" to the max level of that bracket).
As you pass from one chapter to the next new bits of the world "unlocks" but you could also return to old zones and see how they change with every new chapter.
The penultimate chapter is the current raid content. It's the "current" status in the world. The final one being the rp/w-pvp chapter, were there's no quests and the only thing that happens is what the players make happen themselves.

Ethereals and Naga (Maybe some kind of scaled Elven/Humanoid form, so mounting isn't so awkward? Poor horses.)
Oh! And some kind of player housing, along with the ability to further customize your character. In all honestly I'd just rather less humanoid looking races to play, suppose the Horde fufills that.

Third faction. Not neutral race like pandaren, but actual third faction. Not just ordinary third faction like horde and alliance, make it the EVIL faction.
Then break down language barrier so all players can learn to understand each other for the sake of RP (this is one of the things that made me want to play SWTOR even more, they're only going to enforce language barrier for OOC channels, you'll still be able to see the /s /y /e of enemy players and understand wtf they're saying)

I'm playing vanilla WoW on a private server now that's set to 1.12 but with all the instance content and personally confirming it's not just nostalgia saying that vanilla was better. Despite the bugs I'm having more fun playing there doing 5 man content and gearing for raids than I had in wrath or cata (alright, playing arena in wrath was on par with doing 5 mans, they won't cut it compared to ZG and MC though when those come along).
1. Make instances much longer but with optional bosses and possibility to skip some rooms by being clever or such, but have them take generally 1h to finish.
2. Turn raids back to 40 man and make the environments bigger along with bigger mobs to give them more of an "epic" feel. Making epic gear "harder" to get and having fewer epics drop per person in the raid will give the player feel better about it once they get one.
3. Remove heroic mode and make boss difficulty get higher with every boss. It's exciting to kill a boss for the first time, not to kill that boss again but on a harder difficulty.
Those three are my main wishes for WoW but I'd also like having to have all your party members run to the instances unless you of course had a warlock to summon, along with many other wishes to turn this game back to its vanilla stage. Call me QQ-er, masochistic or elitist all you'd like but know that I'm punished enough knowing I'll never get the "vanilla feel" back in any MMORPG because of how the trend's changed and how the industry standard is now set.
In the end of the day, an MMORPG is about progressing your character and when everything is easily handed to you the original sense of progress vanishes.

To be honest.
At the end of the day an MMORPG should be about having fun. Not progressing your character for progressing that charcters sake.
It should be playing because it is fun.

Who's saying I wasn't having more fun in vanilla wow than now? Who's saying a lot of other former players wouldn't agree with me?
The fun argument goes both ways, you know.

Re: Future wish List for Wow
I'm not meaning that. I mean how you seem to say it's only about character progression (what I'd be willing to vager 90% of the WoW populance plays for today, no matter the level. For the Skinner Box), not the fun in itself.
As for WoW, I've quit =P
