[A] Tuesday, 23rd of August, Opening of the library!

A bit late notice, but these last days made it hard to guess my availability.

Posters are hanging about Stormwind with the following notice:

Public opening of the Library and Book Shop
With the gracious permission of Lord Mistmantle and the Minister of Culture, the library at the Canals will be extending its services to the public, under the care of the Minister's Librarians.

These services will include:
- lending books,
- copying books, maps and written material
- safekeeping and protection of books as per client's desire.

This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Culture, to increase the sharing of knowledge and information. As such, a fair price is guaranteed for a high quality work.

Tuesday, the 23rd of August at eight bells, the library at the Canals will he opening their doors for the first time. Henceforth, the library will offer its services on a weekly basis from eight bells to nine bells, only on Tuesday.

So, in short, the library at the canals will be opened from 20:00 till 21:00 every Tuesday to offer some IC scribe and library services.

What services do we offer?
Copying Books
We will try to collect books, copy them and keep them on stored somewhere safe here on the forum. We will also keep track of the number of copies we have of a book, to keep up realistic limitations. These books can be handed in on:
- Forum, or sent to us through PM
- GHI
- TRP2

We offer the service to transition these books from one style to the other. For example from Forum to GHI. The TRP2 service might take some time still, since we are 'slow' with that addon

Storing and safeguarding books
We also offer to keep books safe from dust, humidity and fire! But also from unwanted readers.
Clients can decide who or under what terms a book may be copied, borrowed or sold. We ensure a fair play OOC, and RP it properly IC.

Borrowing or buying books
Aside from the books we are to keep in the dark, we'll also have public books which can be either borrowed or bought.

Awesome! I will try to motivate some members of the Chapter to go and hand in the books.

On other notes: do you accept scrolls, booklets, newspapers, journals?

And do you have the collection of all the in-game lore-books per chance?

And you should -totally- host a 'writing competition' to compile in-character essays on anything from magic to baldness. Having a stock of IC knowledge is fun when investigating stuff!

I have some books of my own and half a dozen of fairy tales in GHI format. I'll be adding more as I receive or make them. I'll make sure to post a list somewhere next week.

Well.. I should note I have but a modest collection to begin with, but I'll be working towards a public, and hopefully larger, list of books.
I will try to lure authors by offering an RP service and IC payment for their works, and perhaps even promote a book every week or two, or something.

Anyway, the ideas aren't few and the options aren't limited. From adding more spark to RP the completion of a book (booksale/signing session) to an intrigue laden gathering point for well protected books... From casual gathering point to a knowledge centre...
Who knows... perhaps there is a section for which I must ask the age of the customer. *cough*

The options are defined by the community as a whole but I will try to generate interest as my inspiration permits me!

I should note that I'm placing my initiative here under a larger plan that Julia, as Minister of Culture, launched. There is room for expansion, both in personel and the things we'll do... BUT... let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet! This is but the first week I'm opening shop and getting things settled.

Thank you all for coming! I'll be continuing to work on this throughout the week. Next Tuesday, I'll be closing 5-10 minutes earlier though... As it seems the path to the council takes me a bit longer than I expected.

It might Dreth. But obviously if it is deemed dangerous it won't be spread like public knowledge. In the end, JP's service falls under the directions of the Minister and the practical demands of Lord Mistmantle. This will impose some limitations on itself, other than JP's reluctance of such knowledge. That's the IC stance. OOCly I would want this library to be available for all kind of things, whichever the community wants it for.

If yes, some of Flitzi's books could be put there.. the ones not about getting to second base with Succubi (.. Someone please write a book with that title.)

Perhaps I could rework some things in to less dark analysations of religions.. Hmm..
