The Arcane Conclave - Bi-Monthly Meeting of the Magical Minds of the Alliance. (Stole your topic set-up Gahalla.. It was so neat!)



Intended session length:
1-2 hours, max.

What will we discuss?

-The Nature of Magic. Is it all the same? Or seperate entities?
-Shadow Magic and Fel magic. The differences and the dangers.
-The Control of Dalaran; does the Alliance owe them anything since neutrality?
-The Races of the Alliance. Who is truly more attuned?
-The Magical Sources of the Shattered Azeroth. Where must we focus?
-And many more!


What is this?

The Arcane Conclave is a bi-monthly meeting of the Magical users of the Alliance in which the use of arcane, the organizations designated to use the arcane and the people of the Alliance where magic is involved are discussed. This is an open meeting intended to incorporate all people of the Alliance from it's Greatest Archmagi to the Lowliest Commoner.

The meeting is designed to follow the format of the Magical leaders of the Alliance gathering for discussion with the allowance of normal citizens to come and watch and ask questions. It is a wonderful opportunity to kick off magical role play on the server inspired by Gahalla's Community of Light.

All are welcome and we encourage a good turn out!

Who may attend:
Anyone may attend and any organisation may have a representative. Lore organisations and the neutral point of view can be accepted if they have legitimate magical authority.

Currently as we have not carried out the first meeting we don't have 'regulars'. However if you would like to represent your organization please make it clear in this topic or the discussion topic and i'll add your guild to the list of confirmed. This is NOT an excuse to play some over-powered Lore Figure or Lore Organization.

The Conclave
The conclave consists of the chairman and the representatives. The point is to discuss arcane and magical matters and if it comes down to it vote about the enactment of decisions for the Magical Community of the Alliance. The chairman has no vote but the representatives have one each. Each organisation is responsible for the choosing of it's own representative and it is his or her duty to speak on the behalf of their organisation. This to easen the load as lots of people all speaking together would be difficult to follow. The representatives are expected to confer with their organisation about their wishes.

The Conclave has no authority over any matter bar what the representitives themselves command therefore any decisions taken by the conclave are limited to the agreement of the represented organizations and the community members who allow such to occur.

Rotating chairmanship
The chairman has no vote. But gets to delegate the word to representatives requesting it, members of the audience wishing to ask a question or for a decision and decide future topics for the duration of the term. The chairman sits for two months, three to four sessions, and then will have to be relected.

The election process works in that the representatives may nominee who they would like to serve as chairman, the nominees answer the nomination (accepting or declining it) and the representatives then vote for the accepted nominations. For the purposes of the first meeting Vezullia will chair it and then we'll elect a chairperson for the next two months. That process will be handled and voted for on the first agenda.

Stormwind - The Mage's Balcony, The Wedding Arch, the Mage Tower.
Ironforge - Hall of Mysteries
Stromgarde - The Tower of Arathor
Gilneas City - ?
The Exodar - The Crystal Hall
Dalaran - The Purple Parlour, The Silver Enclave.

More suggestions are welcome. The location will vary between meetings, to bring the rp across the world

Goals:
The goal of the Conclave is to have a permanent and recurring magical presence in the world where worries and opinions can be discussed as new patches come in and new lore developments occur. It's primary goal is also to develop magical rp and to spawn events where-ever possible.

Date and time: Friday. July 1st. 20:00 servertime.
Location: The Wedding Arch, Stormwind City
Chairman/woman: Professor Vezullia R. Astroloxia. (Election for Chairperson for the next three meetings will take place at the first meeting.)

Agenda: The topics for discussion will be;
-Exposed Magic; The Shattering's Hidden Treasures. "To Quell the Magic or Harness it."
General Consensus: To use the rifts with great caution. To be viewed as Magical Goldmines.

-War; Who do you heed the call of? King or Archmage?
Mixed views ranging from Loyalty to your People -> Magi should be free to do whatever they wish!

-The Ebon Blade; must they obide by the laws of Magic, or follow their own rules?


-Election; The Election of the Conclave's First Chairperson.

Agenda Discussion:

Magic and the Law

Drustai - Magic and Law go hand in hand. With power comes the need for regulation through specific laws.

Sophyra - Magical law should be limited to each nation. AS each nation as specific laws instead of universal laws the same should be for magic. Anything outside the borders of each nation would have no moral standing and would require independent income to sustain.

Geralda - Shares views of the previous speakers. Laws be they magical or not should be administered by individual nations.

Delidah - An independant body should be set up outside the nations to judge crimes of magic neutrally.

Magical Criminals:

Drustai - If magic is used to commit a crime that person has misused magic and commited said crime. There should be laws solely attributed to magic users. However these while being broken would break other laws. Consiquences for all must be faced.

Sophyra - A Magical Criminal is someone who stops someone progressing in magic, however no magic is a tool a kin to a knife. Assault with a knife is serious just as assault with magic is.

Geralda - A clear distinction must be made. For example in Ironforge those commiting crimes with magic face judgement by Elders and Librarians and not the courts however this happens when people -use- magic. They are a criminal plain and simple.

Delidah - A crime is a crime and should be judged the nations law regardless of the means by which the crime was commited. The 'misuse' of magic is a different issue and should be treated as such.

I think Sophyra will attend as an observer from S.I.C.A, but will not be a representative. Since that would mean admitting to be a pro-alliance faction! So she will just be there, peering, listening and asking complicated questions.

She's free to take part as a neutral party like the Kirin Tor will be.

The Dalaran Directive, and by that extension, the Kirin Tor, will be represented by Mailin Isastra Azuresong.

I would ask if it is possible to -not- have it that weekend? It's Midsummer's weekend and we actually still celebrate it in Sweden. I was planning on going away that weekend.
